Dear Reader,

I do hope you enjoyed another visit to Rose Mountain, North Carolina. I’ve really fallen in love with the little town and wish it were an actual place! But it’s not, so I visit through my stories. Cal and Abby had a rough time there, especially Abby, facing her fears and her past. And Cal had to decide if he could trust a woman unwilling to share everything with him. Secrets separate, secrets can hurt, but sharing them can sometimes bring healing and peace. Abby finally decided she could share her secrets with Cal and in the end, she found she’d made the right decision. Cal had earned that trust with his gently pushy way and Abby benefited from it in the end.

I pray that if you’re struggling with something, some kind of fear, you’ll trust someone, share with someone who can help point you in the right direction in overcoming that fear.

God bless,

Lynette Eason

Questions for Discussion

  1. Abby was on the run from the man she thought wanted to harm her. She’d finally had enough and reached her breaking point. Do you have a breaking point? If so, what do you think that would be?
  2. Cal and his mother didn’t hesitate to take in Abby, a stranger, when she was sick and seemed to be in danger. Unfortunately, in this day and age, that seems to be a rare occurrence. What would you have done in Cal’s place?
  3. Cal’s quiet faith got to Abby. She realized he and his family had suffered their own tragedies in the loss of his father to a heart attack and a cousin to murder. What do you think about Cal’s faith? What do you think about Abby’s?
  4. Abby was so sure she knew who was after her. In the end, she was wrong. Were you surprised by the ending? If so, why? If not, why not?
  5. What was your favorite scene? Why?
  6. Who was your favorite character? Why?
  7. Have you read the other books in the Rose Mountain series? If not, do you think you might like to read them? They are
    Dark Obsession
    (a novella in the
    My Deadly Valentine
    anthology) and
    Agent Undercover.
  8. What do you think about Abby’s parents? Do you think they’ll soften toward her eventually?
  9. Have you ever been trapped at home because of heavy snow? How did it make you feel? Frightened? Or was it kind of fun? (I’m sure this can depend on your circumstances.)
  10. When it came right down to it, Abby “womaned up” and did what she had to do to help not only little Daniel Brody, but also Fiona. Has there been a time in your life where you’ve had to push aside your own fears to do something that had to be done?
  11. What do you think about Abby being willing to give up her lucrative medical practice to move to Rose Mountain? She really didn’t have to think twice. Would you give up something like that? Why or why not?
  12. Why do you like to read Romantic Suspense books?
  13. Cal’s faith meant a lot to him and he wanted to share it with Abby. He wasn’t afraid or ashamed to try to point her back toward God. Who was the last person you talked to about your faith? Was it easy or kind of hard?
  14. Even after the letter arrived accusing Abby of being a murderer, Cal didn’t stop believing in her. Why was his faith in her so strong? What would you have done? Kicked her out like Joseph? Or brought her back home?
  15. What do you think of Cal’s mother? Do you think she would be a good example to follow? Why or why not?
