“All you have to do is be yourself and you’re amazing at that.”

She smiled up at him, noticing for the first time that her tears had stopped. “That’s all?”

“That, and trust me. If I tell you something is bad for you, trust me. Let me protect you.”

Georgia nodded slowly. She thought she could do that.

“Now, about the lying…”

“Uh-oh.”

Uh-oh
is right, little girl,” he scolded, staring down at her in a way that made her belly flip.

She couldn’t tell if she was more scared or excited. She had a feeling that being with Sam would always be a heady mixture of the two.

“Why didn’t you just tell me how you were feeling? I would have understood. I would have given you space.”

“I don’t know. I just… freaked, I guess.”

“Hmm.” How did he make his voice sound so accepting and scolding all at once? It was a mystery. “That’s understandable, but then you had a
lot
of time to think about it and it took you over three days to come clean. That’s the part that makes it unacceptable. You understand that, don’t you?”

“I know,” she mumbled.

“Excuse me, young lady?”

“I know,” she said again, louder, glancing up at him and skittering her eyes away again as she added, “Daddy.”

Sam gave her a sudden, unexpected squeeze. “That’s a good girl.”

Georgia couldn’t help but glow under his praise. That was a mystery, too—how he could keep her on her toes but feeling cherished every moment. The man was a marvel.

“So, what are we going to do about this?”

“I… I guess you’re going to punish me,” she said in a small, little girl voice.

“Yes, honey, I’m going to punish you. But first, I think you need a hug.”

She gratefully relaxed into the shelter of his arms, clinging to him for dear life and wishing that it might never end.

Gran had looked so surprised to see Georgia waltz in the door holding hands with Sam that Georgia had almost been able to forget the red, sore bottom she hid beneath her shorts. If she was going to keep getting spanked, she needed to wear longer shorts, darn it! How embarrassing would it be for someone to see her branded? Even a partial handprint would be enough for someone to get the picture.

“I’ll just set another plate for dinner,” the old woman had said, her brisk tone denying the eager surprise that had shown in her face only moments ago.

She’d had to bite her lip, hard, to stifle the gasp that arose to her lips when she sat down. The chairs were hard wood, but each sported a cheery blue gingham cushion. Except that tonight she felt like the princess and the pea—at least, her ass did. That wood seemed to reach out and bite her tender cheeks as though there was no cushion at all.

It felt dirty, almost, to be sitting here at his grandmother’s table passing the peas and making polite chitchat after all the things Sam had just done to her. She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, but if he had any similar misgivings, he didn’t show it.

“So, Georgia. What brings you over this evening?”

“Um…”
Well, Gran, since you asked, I actually came so that your grandson could spank the living daylights out of my butt, but not before he made me brush my tongue with soap paste for lying. Since you asked.
But she didn’t want to give the old woman a heart attack! Best to keep her answers short and sweet. “Sam and I had things to d-discuss.” Great, now she was blushing. Fantastic.

“This is terrific meatloaf, Gran.”

“Well, thank you, dear. I’m glad you like it.”

Georgia glanced up at Sam just long enough to send him a grateful smile. He winked back at her. Was he thinking about it, too? Was he remembering how his hand had felt as he’d punished her bare cheeks? It had been such a shock to her to hear that this time he would be spanking her without any clothing covering her backside at all. She’d felt embarrassed and childlike as she’d gone over his knee for, as he’d said, a much-deserved reminder to tell the truth.

“If you’d just come to me earlier,” he’d scolded in that calm, reasonable voice of his, “we could have avoided this.”

Damn it all,
why
hadn’t she come to him earlier? Why had she been so stubborn and prideful and scared? It seemed so silly now, tucked under his arm as he began swatting her poor cheeks. Of course, nearly from the first stinging spank, she remembered why. She’d wanted to avoid
this
—crying out and twisting in his embrace as she tried to work her way free. She didn’t even know why she bothered; it was always to no avail. She supposed that maybe it was just part of this spanking dance they did when she was in trouble and he was meting out hard-handed discipline.

And boy, had it been hard-handed. Her bottom burned and ached, chafing against the wood she shouldn’t even be able to feel. But she could and that was all that mattered.

“Sam sure knows how to spank.”

Georgia’s head snapped up as she stared wide-eyed at Gran, her mouth agape. “What?”

“I said, Sam’s just like Hank. That was my late husband, dear. His grandfather.”

“I… see.” She glanced at Sam just in time to see him duck his head, his face creased with muffled laughter. So he knew exactly what she’d thought she’d heard.

“Yes, my Hank was one-of-a-kind. A true gentleman. Of course, being a gentleman wasn’t nearly so rare in
my
day, but anyhow, he could be slow to the punch, too.”

“I… I’m sorry?”

“What I mean, dear,” she leaned across the table and took Georgia’s hand, staring at her as though it was just the two of them sitting there, “is that sometimes, you have to wait a while for the good ones to get their heads on straight and come out and say what they want. But they
are
worth the wait.”

“Oh, well… I… yes, ma’am.” She squeezed Gran’s hand and then turned to look at Sam. “Yes, I know.” And she meant it—he was well worth all of it—even if it meant taking the punishments she earned. Meeting Sam’s eyes, she flushed as she remembered, and wondered if he was thinking about her well-spanked bottom that caused her to squirm in the hard chair, too.

Sam let her stay in his embrace and listen to the comforting thump of his heart until long after she’d calmed down. Maybe, she thought, he needed the closeness with her as much as she needed it with him. She hadn’t truly realized how much she’d missed him until the moment that he pulled her into his embrace and she found herself inhaling his familiar, musky aftershave.

When he released her, she could feel his regret. Whether it was because he missed having her in his arms already, or because of what they both knew was coming next, she didn’t know.

“I want you to follow me.” Then, without waiting for a reply, he’d taken off a brisk pace that had her scurrying to keep up with him.

To her surprise, he’d led them to a shed a few yards away. The paint was faded, but otherwise it seemed to be sound. Still, it felt a bit creepy.

“Come on,” Sam encouraged without looking back at her, as though he could sense her hesitation. Then, still without looking back, he slid the door open and walked inside.

Taking a deep breath, she meekly followed him inside. Much to her surprise, the shed was much better inside than it was out. Instead of the dark, dank man-cave she’d half-expected, she found the concrete floor to be swept clean. There were no windows, save one on the back door, but it was light and airy nonetheless.

“Should I… should I close the door?”

“You can leave it open, if you like. There’s no one around for miles anyway.”

Still, Georgia didn’t like even the thought of someone hearing her getting spanked. She could clearly hear Sam chuckle as she shut the door anyway. When she turned around for another look, she noticed things she hadn’t seen before. For example, there was one wall lined with dangling belts. Well, one was a belt—long, thick, and shiny black. The others were different. On one, the leather was braided, and on the other, there were multiple thin strips of leather held together with a single hard knot. Just the sight of the fearsome trio made her swallow hard.

Then there was a line of wooden paddles hanging from hooks. They varied in size, each larger than the last. One was quite decorative, actually, painted a bright, shiny red and had a sunburst in its center.

“Do you use all these?”

“I haven’t used all of them, no. But I will, one day.”

She couldn’t help but shudder at the ‘one day’ remark. He meant on her. Of course, she could still back out—if ever there was a time, it was now. But then she turned and looked at him to see that he was watching her as well. His eyes softened as the sight of her, and something inside her went soft, too. The truth was, being with Sam gave her a rush of emotion unlike anything she’d ever felt before, even when she was going to be in trouble. Was she really willing to give that up, just because she was scared?

“We’ll take this little thing slowly,” he said, as though he could read her thoughts. “It will take you some time to get used to the rules and take me some time to learn how you like things, too. I don’t expect this to happen overnight.”

“Thank you.”

“Why is it wrong to lie, Georgia?” he asked, changing tack quickly.

“Um… because you want me to tell the truth?”

“That sounds like you’re asking me.”

“You want me to tell the truth, Sir,” she amended.

“That’s true, but not just to me, to everyone you come across. If you’re going to want to lie about something, you probably shouldn’t be doing it in the first place, right?”

“Yes, Sir.”

“And the most important thing to be honest about is your feelings. Why is that, baby?”

A warm sensation traveled throughout her body when he called her baby. “Because… you want to know how I feel? I mean, you do. You want to know.”

He gave her a small smile. “Yes, Georgia, I want to know. More than that, I need to know how you feel. If I don’t, I can’t do my job and take care of you and I take that job very seriously.” The way he held her eyes as he spoke made sure that she knew it.

“Well, you can take real good care of me right now and give me hugs and kisses instead of spanking me with one of those things.” She cast her eyes at what she was beginning to think of as his Wall of Punishment.

“I’d love to, but the thing is, I don’t think that’s what you really need right now.”

“Oh, I assure you, it really is.”

“What you need is to be reminded that naughty girls end up with sore bottoms.”

“But I already know that,” she whined, pouting for effect.

“Not well enough, apparently. So I think maybe a taste of the paddle would be a good idea today.”

Georgia couldn’t help but blanch. “Sam, you can’t be serious.”

“Oh, I never joke about paddles. You’ll learn that soon enough. But first, let’s make a stop by the sink.”

Her eyes followed where he was pointing and she saw that he did have a long wooden counter with a gleaming chrome sink in its center. There were three cabinets, too. What did those contain, she wondered? On second thought, maybe it was better not to know.

“What… what are we going to do over there?” she asked without moving.

“Little girls don’t question their daddies,” he scolded mildly. “They do as they’re told. Especially when they’re already in trouble.”

With a loud hmmph just as if she were indeed the little girl he accused her of being, she flounced over to the sink. Sam followed behind her at a slower pace and somehow, every single footfall that brought him closer made the ball in her belly tighten. She had no idea what was about to happen, but even so she somehow knew that she wouldn’t like it one bit.

When Sam reached her side, he lifted his arm and opened the cabinet directly above her head. Without a word to her, he pulled down a brand new toothbrush still in the box. Slowly, as though he knew that she was watching his every move, he opened it. Then, once he’d shaken it from its plastic covering, he pulled down an unopened box of Dove soap. As soon as his fingers had pried it from its package, a light, flowery scent filled the air.

What on Earth…

Then Sam turned on the faucet and as soon as water began pouring, he held the bar of soap underneath the running water. As she watched with avid eyes, she saw him pick up the bar of soap and begin to gently rub it across the bristles of the toothbrush.

Georgia’s eyes widened and she’d begun to back away before he’d even turned off the water. When he turned to her, his face calm and expectant, she shook her head.

“Georgia…”

“You can’t,” she protested over the warning in his voice. “I… I know I was bad, but… you just… can’t.”

“I can,” he replied. “You’re my little girl and I’m going to punish you as I see fit. You lied to me, and what’s more, you kept it from me for three days. So a little soap will help you remember to tell the truth the first time around. If you don’t know how you feel, tell me that. That’s better than misleading me, isn’t it?”

“Yes, but…”

“Come over here,” he ordered firmly.

Damn her silly, obedient legs, they followed his order straight away despite the fact that her brain was telling her to make a run for it and never look back!

“I’m going to go easy on you this time,” he said, his tone still firm, but kind. “This is just a warning. But next time you will not be so lucky. Understand?”

She nodded, feeling her eyes tear up at even the thought of putting that awful toothbrush in her mouth.
