Red Lips on a White Glass

Red Lips on a White Glass:
The Art of Wine

-A red cab parked beside me – not a taxi, but a Sauvignon. I called for another. Traces of Ruby Woo stained the glass. I could smell the vintage on her top lip. Her skin was dark, but her lips were red. Her heels were dark, but her bottoms were red. The room was dark, but the lights were red. The perfect moment...

I demanded to have her whether in public or in private. She was sensational like that. Dripping legs, beautiful body, natural tones and a taste that made the lips jealous of the tongue with a trip to ecstasy that justified each affair. I’d grip her by the neck, as she so desired. Her arrival was my starting point. The climax was foreplay. She joined me for dinners and dialogue until becoming more involved. We were members of the Mile High Club–we flew first class together. When we’d land, she’d accompany me on yachts.

On dry land, she’d ride with me, and if I got pulled over, she’d be one to get me in trouble. She was dangerous. I was addicted. She was gorgeous and distracting. I had enough. My limit had been reached, but she kept finding her way back into my hands. I called it quits and pushed her off. She filed for abuse.

Wine is a woman.

And like a woman, wine is beautifully complex. To sip great grapes stirs an emotion inside of you, no matter if you’re wearing a cocktail dress at a dinner party or cloaked in a robe at home on the couch with no makeup on – a glass of red, white or blush will make any woman blush. Wine makes you feel sexy. It appeals to your five senses and conjures beautiful imagery. It serves as a conversational lubricant while animating the shy, and turning the verbose into the contemplative. This art in a glass tastes damn good, too.

But wine can be intimidating. There’s so much to learn. Several universities are beginning to offer courses on the subject. What is it that has culture enthusiasts so enthralled? I’ve enlisted the help of my good friend, Jaye Price, wine educator and manager of “The Wine Shoe” in Atlanta, Georgia to find out. Grab a glass and pay attention. I humbly present to you,
The Art of Wine
:

In simple theory, wine is fermented grape juice. What makes it an art form is the details. Over many millennia, it’s been used in several religious sacraments. It’s experienced development in so many ways throughout the centuries in parts of the world. What makes the art of wine cool is to see how people truly appreciate it just like any other form of art: performance art, musical art or visual art. Wine is a reflection of a particular community, culture, region and style. It’s reflective of the climate, the lifestyle and the cuisines. When you go to a wine tasting, you’re traveling the world.
