Slowly she walked out of her bedroom
, but glanced at her bed, it had finally been christened. Smiling to herself she closed the door and her eyes were drawn to the bathroom door. Just thinking about Stefan’s naked wet body made her panties damp. She figured that she would make some coffee while she waited for him to get out, she knew if she joined him she wouldn’t make it out of the apartment at all and they were out of condoms. She was on the pill just because she wanted to be safe, but she wanted to get to know him better before she had unprotected sex.

As she started the coffee she heard a door opened, she looked up and saw Stefan walk out of her steamy bathroom
with his black hair still wet. He turned toward her and smiled. “I left you some water,” he said as he walked toward her, and she felt her heart race as he looked at her as if he wanted to devour her.

She had to hold her breath when he stepped closer to her. He was truly too beautiful to be
there shirtless in her kitchen. Gently he ran the tips of his fingers down her cheek and to her collar bone. “I…made you some coffee.” She bit her bottom lip as he lowered his sweet lips to hers.

“Coffee is good,” h
e said against her mouth and she wanted to pull him into a deep passionate kiss, but he stepped away from her reach.

She was screaming inside, but on the outside she
just walked past him into the now steamy bathroom. After a five minute shower she was blow drying her hair. Her hair was normally straight, but she didn’t like to leave the house with a wet head. It was something her grandmother would always tell her. She glanced at herself in the mirror and smiled. She knew she looked amazing in the dress and she loved it. She’d seen a similar dress on her favorite TV show,
True Blood
, and she knew she needed to find one. It took her a month, but she did and she never regretted buying it.

She walked out of the bathroom without looking at the kitchen
. She felt him staring at her and she loved it. She walked to her closet to grab her red wedge shoes that tied on the ankle.

“You look fucking amazing.”

She smiled as she turned around to face the man she had dreamt about for months. “Why thank you, kind sir.” She walked to the bed and sat down to put her shoes on.

H
e sat on the floor in front of her and took one of her shoes in his hand and glanced up at her. “Can I put them on you?”

S
he nodded. No one had ever offered to put her shoes on before. She looked down when she felt his lips on her skin. He laid a tender kiss on her ankle bone and then did the same thing to the other side. Unhurriedly he placed the shoe on her left foot and tied the shoe around her ankle. She trembled as his fingertips gazed her skin. He repeated the same thing on her other foot, and when he was done he looked up at her and smiled, but his eyes were darker with passion.

“That was nice,
” she said and he chuckled.

“Yes nice.” H
e shook his head, which caused his hair to move and she wanted to run her fingers through it. “Where is your phone? I want to add my number in it.”

She got
off of the bed and crossed the room to her purse. She had tossed it on the floor the night before. She reached inside and pulled out her
iPhone Five
. She turned around and handed it to him. He took it and the screen turned on as he swiped his finger across it.

He
punched in a few numbers and handed her phone back to her. “Now you have my number. Call me so I have yours.”

She did and
the Doctor Who theme song started to play. She arched her eyebrows at him. “Doctor Who fan?”

He laughed, and shrugged. “I don’t kn
ow what you’re talking about.” He winked at her. “I need to go, but I will see you later.” he leaned in toward her and she welcomed his kiss.

She sighed as she watched him walk out of her bedroom
. She wanted to kick herself in the ass for thinking she wouldn’t fall head over heels for him. Grabbing her purse she headed out her front door heading to work.

Stefan walked out of the crappy apartment building. He had been to the building many times before, usually to arrest drug dealers or
prostitutes
. He hated the thought of his Noel living there. She should be somewhere nice and he knew after his background check, that her husband came from money. He wondered why she wasn’t living better, she deserve the very best. He walked to his black SUV and started it up.

With one last look at the apa
rtment building he drove toward the station and to his partner. He had never been so happy in his life that she had called in, or it would have been her that would have gotten out of the car to arrest Gretchen Elliott, the woman who had been lingering on his mind since Christmas. After their one night together he’d wanted more, but he didn’t want to be the one to ask for it. They’d agreed that what they would share would only be for one night, and nothing more. But when he’d seen her again, he felt his heart leap, and he knew that it was destiny.

The short
, blonde haired vixen had been his angel when he’d needed someone, after his break up with Amy. He’d just wanted someone to get lost in and he’d found a website. The site was open to men and woman who wanted to have a good time with no strings attached, and when he’d read ‘Noel’s’ profile he knew he had to meet her. When he saw her, he couldn’t believe his eyes, she was breath-taking. Now she wanted him just for sex, just a fuck buddy. He wanted more, but didn’t want to sound needy. He wanted to be with her, and would do almost anything to get what he wanted.

He knew it was crazy for him to want what
he wanted from her without truly knowing her, but there was something about her. The way she reacted when he touched her, it was as if she was made for him. As he pulled into the station he saw his partner. She was waiting for him with some coffee.

He slowly got o
ut of his car and walked toward her. She beamed at him and a part of his heart broke again over her. She was very attractive with her long, dark-black hair and bright green eyes. They’d gone to the police academy together and he’d been pleased when they were assigned as partners. Until one night they took their friendship to the next level, and had sex. After a few months of sleeping together, He’d told her he loved her, and she’d told him she loved him too. But after about six months, she’d started pulling away, being secretive and lying to him. He’d followed her to a hotel and found her in someone else’s arms. That was when he’d ended it. She’d said if it was too hard to work with her, she would ask for a new partner. But he hadn’t let her. He’d told her they were still friends after all, and he trusted her with his life. He never told her he knew about the other man.

“Hey
, Amy,” he said as he smiled at her.

S
he bit her bottom lip in response to him and he wondered if it was time to ask for a new partner, maybe a man. “Hey I brought you your favorite coffee,” she said as she held out the coffee cup and he gladly took it.

“Thanks,” he replied and they both walked to
the station together.

Chapter Five

After an easy day at work, Gretchen sat at the bar waiting on her best friend to meet her. Mickey’s bar was smoky and crowded as usual for Saturday night, but she’d figured it would be, Mickey’s was pretty popular. The regular Saturday night bartender waited on her and he knew what Gretchen wanted. She allowed herself one drink when she was driving and most of the time she didn’t finish it before she was asking for a Coke.

She thought back over her day, and recalled that she had
n’t been happy when her boss showed her the newspaper. Her arrest was on the front page, she was livid that Robert would do that to her.

“You’re here!”

She
turned to see Laura sit next to her. “Of course I am. I told you I would be, didn’t I?” Gretchen smiled at her friend.

“Yes
, but I thought you might be handcuffed to your bed or something.” Laura winked and waved her hand to get the bartender’s attention. She ordered her drink, a strawberry daiquiri and Gretchen ordered a Coke. “Start talking,” Laura ordered, and Gretchen grinned.

“There isn’t much to tell,
” she lied and knew her best friend wouldn’t believe her.

“If you don’t start talking
, I’m going to kick your ass.”

Gretchen laughed and knew Laura wasn’t joking. “Fine I decided Stefan and I will be friends with benefits.”

Laura did something she had never done before, she went silent.

The bartender se
t down her strawberry daiquiri and then handed Gretchen her Coke.

F
inally, Laura opened her mouth. “Sweetie, I don’t think that is a good idea, you’ll get hurt.”

Gretchen knew she was right, she would get hurt
, but it was the only way she could have Stefan and she wasn’t going to lose him again, at least not anytime soon. She sighed, and turned her attention to her drink. “I know, but I want more time with him. Plus look how my last relationship turned out. I just want to have fun while I can, and make as many memories as I can with him.”

Laura took her hands in hers. “Sweetie
, you deserve to be happy forever, not just for a short time.”

S
he knew that, but Stefan had already said he wasn’t the forever kind of guy, and she didn’t want to pressure him into anything. “I know and maybe someday I will find the one I will spend my life with. But right now I want Stefan and I am taking what I can get.”

Laura squeezed her hands around Gretchen’s and nodded.
“Fine, but I will be here when you need me.”

Gretchen smil
ed warmly at her dearest friend. She knew that no matter what happened in her life, she would always have Laura by her side. “I am so happy you don’t hate me, I know I wasn’t the best friend you needed when I was with Rob. But now I promise you, I will make it up to you.” She reached for her cold Coke, and Laura turned to her.

“Well if Claus has any cop friends he wants to introduce me to, I wouldn’t mind.”
She winked.

Gre
tchen laughed and shook her head. “I’ll ask for you.”

The rest of the night was
uneventful, but her mind kept wandering to Stefan and what he was doing. She was the one who wanted to be just friends, but she was scared he would leave her again. Now that she’d found him again, she didn’t want to lose him. She said good night to Laura at about elven-thirty, and walked to her car. She had left her phone in her car because she wanted to give her friend one-hundred percent of her attention and her fingers trembled in hope that a certain officer had left a message.

There was one, and it was from her soon to be ex.
We need to talk without lawyers please meet me.
She chose to ignore him and call the man that was on her mind.

Gretchen felt her chest ache and not from Robert
, but from not hearing from Stefan. She would have thought he would have called her or texted her by now. Then she thought about him putting himself in danger. He was, after all, a police officer and that frightened her. She pulled up her contacts and scrolled down to the S’s to find Stefan’s number. She needed to know he was okay. She pressed on his name and brought her phone to her ear.

It rang only twice before she heard
a deep voice, “Gretchen?” The way he said her name caused her heart to race.

“Hey…umm…how are you?” S
he had never been at a loss for words before. She usually always had herself together. But he made her feel like a school girl, maybe it was because she had only been with Robert before him.

Stefan
’s warm chuckle filled her ear, and made a shiver run down her body settling at her pussy, causing her to cross her legs to relieve some of the pressure. “I’m sitting at home. Where are you?”

She could imagine
him arching his dark eyebrows at her, she bit her bottom lip. “I’m just heading home. Laura wanted to meet at a bar for a drink.”

“So
you are drinking and driving?”

S
he smiled, if she didn’t know better, she could have sworn she heard anger in his voice.

“Do you really think I would call someo
ne who arrested me yesterday, and tell him I was driving drunk? I had one drink and then I had soda after that.” Now she was mad, she couldn’t believe he thought she would be so stupid as to drink and drive.

Stefan sighed. “I’m sorry I shouldn’t have accused you.”

Closing her eyes she grinned in her dark car. “Would you like to come over? Or if you want I can come to you?” She bit her lip again waiting for him to answer.

“Umm…not tonight, but I can come over after I get off tomorrow.”

She felt her heart drop. She knew that Laura was right, being friends with him and having sex was going to be hard on her. She knew she wanted more from him and he obviously didn’t. “Okay. Well then, call me to let me know.” She was about to hang up until she heard him mumble something.
