“N
ow we move on to the ring part of the ceremony. Does the best man have the rings?” the minister asks Pete.

“Yes, here they are,” Pete replies handing them to the minister.

“Kade, repeat after me. With this ring I give you my heart, I promise from this day forward you shall not walk alone. May my heart be your shelter and my arms be your home.”

Kade gently places the ring on my finger.

“Roxy repeat after me. With this ring I give you my heart, I promise from this day forward you shall not walk alone. May my heart be your shelter and my arms be your home.”

I place the ring carefully onto Kade’s finger.

“Kade, do you take Roxy to be your wife, to cherish in friendship and love, to trust and honour her through the good times and the bad, in sickness and in health for as long as you both shall live?”

“I do,” Kade replies smiling and looking deep into my eyes, his hands holding mine softly.

“Roxy, do you take Kade to be your husband, to cherish in friendship and love, to trust and honour him through the good times and the bad, in sickness and in health for as long as you both shall live?”

“I do,” I reply smiling widely as I give myself to Kade today and always.

“I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride,” the celebrant announces.

Kade dives in to kiss me, caressing my face lovingly. It is such a warm, meaningful kiss and our first one as husband and wife.

“Woohoo!” the guests cheer and clap. G
od it is a sensational feeling.

“Get a room!” I hear Jemma call out, and the crowd laugh.

“You are now my wife, Roxy,” Kade whispers to me and kisses me softly again as I smile, my cheeks hurt from grinning so much already.

We sign the book with Jemma and Pete and we get some stunning silhouette photos by sunset, with the waves breaking in the background and water spraying off the rocks.

W
e take our seats the caterers are serving appetizers of mini quiches, minted lamb skewers and toasted bruschetta.

Our bridal table is just gorgeous with fairy lights behind it on a lattice stand. It is beautifully decorated with a floral table centrepiece of coral and candelabra, and a single starfish sits in each bouquet at the guests tables.

The chair covers are white silk organza with aqua ribbon. The napkins are aqua with a white ribbon and the caterers set up the cute little photo frames with shells that Jemma and I made with each guests name and a thank you note.

I cannot fault a God damn thing.

All of the guests take their seats for the formal events to start.

“Ladies and gentlemen, let’s give a warm cheer for our newlywed couple Kade and Roxy Thomas,” the host for the night states and everyone cheers and claps as Kade and I stand, and he raises my hand up in the air in victory.

The song “Celebrate” by Kool and the Gang plays, as that is what we are doing, celebrating our marriage to one another.

“The best man and maid of honour, Pete and Jemma, give them a loud welcome,” he tells us through the microphone.

After we enjoy our entrees of chicken Florentine and crab cakes, it’s time for the part that most people get bored with.

“Just keep your speech short and sweet, Kade,” I tell him even though he isn’t the first speaker.

“Hope everyone enjoyed their entrees, now it’s time for the speeches, and first up is the best man, Pete,” the emcee announces to us.

Pete

“To start, I’d just like to say how beautiful Roxy looks today, very elegant, and Jemma you scrubbed up okay too,” he jokes as they seem to stir each other. “No, honestly you both look beautiful,” he states correcting his last statement.

“What can I say about my best mate, Kado? Well
,
honestly, he is the best bloke I have ever met without a doubt, he is loyal, trustworthy and has been there for my wife Emma and myself through thick and thin,” Pete states honestly.

“I could see just how smitten he was with Roxy from the moment they met, he had found his soul mate and I guarantee you Roxy, you could not find a better husband if you searched the world. I wish you both the best in life. Your journey together has just begun and I know you will still be deeply in love when you are old and grey.”

“A toast to the gorgeous couple. Love you both and have a wonderful life together,” Pete says and I have tears running down my cheeks. We are both so grateful to have Pete in our lives without a doubt.

Kade high fives his mate, typical male behaviour.

“Next up we have the maid of honour Jemma to say a few words.”

Jemma

“Young, wild, and free perfectly describes my best friend Roxy around five years ago. Today she is a mature woman who I admire and respect. You are my role model Roxy, my best friend, and such an inspiration,” she confesses sweetly to me.

“Roxy and Kade have such a wonderful connection; I see the way they look at each other, and its true love. I don’t need to wish them good luck in their marriage as I have no doubt they will be together forever, so instead I wish them love, happiness, and hot steamy sex! Sorry Denise, block your ears!” Jemma announces and our guests cheer as I blush a shade of pink, but still giggle at her admission. Did I expect anything else?

“To Roxy and Kade,” Jemma cheers as she holds her champagne glass up for a toast, and then has a sip. She runs over and embraces me and we both have a cry and laugh.

“The next speech is from the groom himself, Kade,” the emcee announces.

Kade’s Speech

“Thank you to Pete and Jemma, for your kind words and everything you have done for Roxy and I this past week and since we have known you guys. A big thank you to everyone here today, I crazily decided that we would get married in a week, but hey we pulled it off. Thank you all for coming at short notice.”

“To my gorgeous, stunning, beautiful wife, Roxy. I’d just like to say, that I am the God damn luckiest man in the entire universe, not only because you are my wife, but because I get to spend forever with you,” I state to Roxy honestly as she smiles through the tears falling down her cheeks.

“We stumbled along the way but now here we are well grounded, feet planted firmly and soon we will have a castle where we can live together, and start a family as soon as possible,” I announce and she cries. I actually said it, I want kids now.

“So here is a toast to my beautiful bride; to making happy memories, having fun along the way, and spending eternity in each other’s arms.”

Roxy is a blubbering mess when I pull her in tightly for the most meaningful embrace I have ever had in my existence. This right here, right now is pure blissful heaven. Life doesn’t get any better than this.

“I love you, Mr. Thomas, now and forever,” she whispers into my ear, with no emotion spared. My heart now belongs to Roxy, but more than that she has also captured my soul. It’s deep, intense, and true.

Roxy

T
he waiters start to bring out the delicious smelling main meals. There is roast rump of beef with horseradish and thyme roasted potatoes and a creamy morel sauce or wild garlic crusted breast of chicken, spring onions, steamed broccoli and carrots.

“This food is heaven. The rump is melting in my mouth, Rox,” Kade announces to me
. Of course, it’s a comment about food.

“The chicken is delicious, too,” I reply as I enjoy the flavours of garlic and onion.

As the waiters start to clear away the plates from the tables, the emcee makes another announcement. “It is now time for Kade and Roxy to light the candle and cut the cake.”

We stand as Kade reaches his hand out for mine, to cut the cake that I designed myself.

I thought I would give it a go; being great with pen and paper, I sketched my outline and contacted a local cake shop to make it for me.

It is white in colour, three tiers with waves iced around the edging in aqua. The icing is a white chocolate ganache, and the cake flavours are chocolate mud cake, caramel mud cake, and fruit cake for tradition. The top layer is decorated with seashells, starfish and a cute little surfer, and of course, a bride in a white dress.

“A Sky Full of Stars” by Coldplay, starts to play as we hold the knife together and cut into our wedding cake. My wish is to live happily ever after. We then light the candle as a symbol of our love.

The song “Amazing” by Bruno Mars cuts in and starts to play, as I lovingly pull Kade onto the dance floor for our first dance as husband and wife.

“‘Cus girl you’re amazing, just the way you are,” he serenades to me sounding nothing like Bruno Mars.

We mould nicely into each other’s arms, as we sway to the beautiful lyrics, a memorable moment, there have been so many today...

Now that the formalities of the night are over, I am going to have plenty to drink. After all the preparation leading up to today, it’s time to enjoy ourselves and unwind.

As if the Gods above were listening the DJ stars playing some more upbeat and pop music, perfect for the dance floor. First up is “Shake it off” by Taylor Swift.

Jemma reads my mind and grabs my hand leading me out to the dance floor that now has strobe lights flashing. Dancing in my tight fitted silk wedding dress definitely has its challenges. The movement is restricted and if I bent down I am sure it would rip. I am also avoiding anyone with red wine, not the best stain that I want on my dress.

I signal to Emma and Ebony to come and dance, as my mum offers to watch Crystal. We have a nice little circle of girls dancing; Kade’s mum comes over and dances next to Ebony. I am ecstatic that she came today.

“I Wanna Dance with Somebody” by Whitney Houston is the next song played. I am loving the mixture of eras playing tonight. I feel hands on my hips then soft kisses on my neck, as I continue to sway to the music, knowing just who the mystery person is.

“Hey wifey,” he whispers playfully into my ear. I smile widely,

“Hey hubby,” I whisper back to him as I hold onto his hands that have now wrapped around my waist.

“Believe” by Cher starts to play, and I turn around to face Kade. We dance and let loose for the next thirty minutes, then head to the bar for another round of drinks.

We have cake placed at our table, so that is a priority as I stop to taste the amazing cake.

“Mmm, oh man that is delicious cake Jem,” I announce to her while moaning in between mouthfuls.
Note to self, diet starts Monday.

Then I hear “Oh Mickey, You’re so Fine, You’re so Fine You Blow my Mind” come on. “Roxy, we gotta dance to Mickey,” Jemma declares as we hurriedly finish our cake and wash it down with champagne.

Obviously the DJ is feeling the 80’s vibe right this minute as the next two songs are “Funky Town” and “Red Wine.” The last song for us to dance to is a brand new one by Bruno Mars “Uptown Funk” so we dance until the end and I hug the girls, as the lights start to come on.

“Would everyone form a circle around the gazebo, for the final goodbyes of the evening,” the emcee announces.

The song I thought would be absolutely perfect for this starts to play. “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by Queen pretty much sums it all up nicely.

We hug and say our goodbyes to Mum and Phil, Mum is emotional. “Oh Roxy, I love you so much, sweetie,” she announces hugging me tightly. Phil shakes Kade’s hand and kisses my cheek.

Next in line is Jeremy and Seline. “Hey Jez, thanks for coming Bro, enjoy that Aussie tour when it starts next week,” I state to him and hug Seline. “You look so beautiful Roxy, we are so glad to see you happy and content,” she tells me.

Then it’s Dad, and to think I was telling people I didn’t have a father a few years ago. “Bye Roxy, you were sensational today, sweetheart,” my loving father tells me smiling widely. I cuddle him and I am so grateful that he is back in my life.

“What did I ever do without you, Dad?” I confess to him, so ecstatic to have him back as my father.

“I love you, Roxy, and I’m proud of you,” he adds now making me cry.

“Kade, congrats to you both. Thank you for taking good care of my little girl,” he tells Kade as they shake hands, then Dad gives him a manly hug.
