I anxiously look over at Roxy, who looks upset, then gives me a half-hearted smile. I know she is proud of me but doesn’t like to see me hurt.

“Awesome fight Kade, you know if surfing doesn’t work out, you can come to boxing,” the Rock’s coach says to me.

“No thanks. I’m gonna stick to surfing,” I chuckle and shake my head.

I grab a quick shower and have first aid patch me up. They give me three pain relief tablets too. I need them after what I just went through.

As I make my way out of the tunnel, Roxy comes running up to me and jumps into my arms. “Oh, Kade look at you. Bloody hell, does it hurt?” she queries me all concerned.

“Just a little,” I tell a white lie so she feels better about the way I look. She is the most beautiful girl on the planet to me, without a doubt. I find myself gazing at her, mesmerising her blue eyes as they find mine, and we kiss sweetly. My heart is still thumping hard in my chest from the boxing match. I take her in gazing at her pretty face.

“You know part of me was fighting for your honour Roxy?” I felt like I couldn’t let her down. “I want to be your knight in shining armour in more ways than one, baby,” I add.

“You are my knight in shining armour each and every day. You made me proud today baby, and you did it for a wonderful cause, not just for the fighting part. But I forbid you from ever fighting like that again!” Her stern and angry voice that makes me chuckle.

“Yes mam, no more boxing for me,” I agree, in more ways than one. I can’t remember the last time my body ached like this.

I gently place Roxy down and even after almost ten months together my knees still go a little weak when we embrace and kiss deeply. My breath stops and catches in my throat.

I see Roxy’s pupils dilate and her eyes smoulder with intensity, then as if trying to kill me, she licks her lips and bites down on her lower lip.

“I need you naked and on top of me, gorgeous girl,” I whisper into her ear. The lust in her eyes is burning into me. I wonder if she is aroused and wet from seeing me working hard in the ring.

She smirks as if she can read my dirty mind. “Let’s go home. I have saved a few moves for the bedroom, baby.” I squeeze her hand and can think of nothing more perfect than climbing into bed with my goddess.

Chapter 13

Girl Power

Roxy

––––––––

“G
irls’ night, Rox. No arguments. I’m just not sure where to go for once in my life,” Jemma announces grinning as she strolls in one afternoon after work. I guess with all of the baby talks, Kade’s charity fight, and my work being so unappealing to me right now, it really does sound like a tempting offer.

“What if we travel interstate and make a weekend of it? I’ve got it! Gold Coast, Roxy! Party time!” I smile then shrug my shoulders, agreeing that it could be fun.

Correction will be fun!

“I am excited Rox, just going to jump on my laptop to see what I can find. Oh and text the other girls to see who is free for next weekend on such short notice.”

“A girls’ weekend sounds perfect,” I reply to her. It is perfect timing, the closer we come to getting the paternity test results, the tenser I feel. I’m totally stressed and a maybe a little confused.

Well, not confused about my feelings for Kade, or about the fact that I will be by his side through whatever life throws our way. But confused and wondering just how much time Kade might actually be spending with Stacey and the baby.

I’m in it for the long haul, so I will try and take each day as it comes. I gave up on us once before and I won’t do that again, I never imagined having to share him with a baby that isn’t mine, but if it’s part of him I know I would love it, no doubt in my mind.

“W
e are all booked for this weekend. We’re staying at The Outrigger in Surfers Paradise with an ocean view room, how awesome does that sound Rox? Friday night dinner at the resort’s al a carte restaurant and a few drinks,” Jemma reads out the itinerary she organised and emailed Tia and Louise the minor details.

“On Saturday I think a bit of shopping in the morning and lunch followed by a much needed pamper day,” she states smiling. “Pamper package includes; facial, pedicure, massage and champagne all in the motel. I am so friggin’ excited, Rox. Then wait for this; on Saturday night, we are doing an epic club crawl, three awesome nightclubs and VIP entry. We can dance our butts off, Rox,” she excitedly tells me, and it makes me smile. Dancing with Jemma is just the therapy I need.

“Late breakfast Sunday, fly home at two pm and be home by five, Sydney time. You happy with all of the above, chicky babe?” she questions me playfully.

“Yep, all happy, totally looking forward to it,” I respond grinning just thinking of the mischief that we may get into.

T
he Queensland humidity is stifling. I’m glad I have lots of cool outfits. Friday night dinner is delicious and such a laugh. We had the funniest waiter; he had bright blue hair and was an absolute crack up. This day has been sensational.

“I am so relaxed right now, Jem,” I mumble while we are both getting our massages.

“Me too, hope I don’t fall asleep and fart.” I laugh out loud at her hilarious statement.

“God, I hope you don’t fart, either,” I come back with a giggle, and in turn, she cackles. I’m sure the masseuse must think we are high on something.

Nope, just friendship.

Saturday night we are all dressed up to hit the town. I’m wearing my new olive coloured jumpsuit with my mesh chain black necklet, bangles and matching heels. My hair is up in a high bun, no point in even attempting the straight look when the heat is so muggy and sticky.

Gemma is looking exquisite as always wearing her tight white pantsuit, immaculate makeup and hair. “Check out my YSL leopard print purse from today’s shopping expedition. Isn’t it perfect with this suit?” she questions rhetorically as she is the fashion guru, after all.

“Looking hot Rox, my dear. Louise and Tia you babes both look awesome too,” Jemma compliments Tia in her three-quarter black and grey leopard print dress and black strappy heels while Louise is in a white skirt with purple silk halter neck top with wedge heels.

We ordered an easy dinner of Caesar salads before we left, saves us time and fills our stomachs for the many drinks I am sure we will be consuming.

The first pub we meander into is called Joe’s Bar. It’s quiet and a great place to start, so we place our orders of vodka and orange juice and sit chatting and enjoying each other’s company.

The funky looking band sets up around eight. It’s a rock band, nothing hardcore, and I can’t help but realise just how good The Electric Beat are in comparison.

“We need to leave for Cosmo’s in fifteen ladies so we can get the VIP entry,” Jemma states to us as we finish up our drinks.

Cosmo’s is a gorgeous little bar. The ceiling lights are light pink and dimly lit, creating an entrancing ambience. This is my kind of place; I can just tell the music will be good.

After our fifth round of drinks, we are up and dancing. I throw my hands up in the air, dancing to one of the hottest songs right now, “I’m an Albatraoz.” The beat is rocking and addictive, and my body is grooving to the naughty lyrics.

“Woo!” Jemma screams at the chorus as the four of us relive our frequent weekends of dancing and partying.
Just without the drugs. I am so glad that the other girls have finally stopped now, too. When it starts to take over your life, you know it is a bad thing
.

Two slimy looking guys come over and try to join our dancing circle.

“Sorry guys, engaged, taken, and lesbians,” Jemma tells them as they look to us and then to Tia and Louise sussing out Jemma’s statement. It’s priceless; guys love lesbians.

“Fuck you, bitch. I ain't no lesbo,” Tia remarks joking to Jemma when the guys disappear to try hitting on another few girls.

I laugh loudly and hysterically. I can’t stop and think I might wet myself because I am laughing so hard.

“Oh, Jemma, that was gold,” I say to her and proceed to high five her. Tia and Louise are much like Jem and myself and love a good fucking penis.

The night ends in a messy way as we expected. All four of us are giggling, falling over, and on our adventure home, I stand in front of Jemma in a garden so that she can pee.

Best night ever!

Chapter 14

Should I be Worried?

Kade

––––––––

R
oxy excitedly went away on a girls’ weekend, and it makes me sick to my stomach. Did she leave because she’s freaking out about me being the father to Stacey’s baby?

Well, of course, she fucking is. If it was the other way around, I swear I would have lost it by now. She is mine, and I wouldn’t share her with anyone. The thought of her having a baby with another guy just tears my heart up.
I can’t lose her. The thought is enough to give me a panic attack. My life is nothing without her. I remember the numbness all too well.

Getting the tattoo of her name was a gesture of my love; it has to be enough, right? I would propose to her tomorrow to show her that I’m dead serious, but I don’t want her to think I’m doing it because of the baby. There are a million other reasons why I want to propose to her.

I will show her one day how committed to her I am. I will give it my all, our relationship, because when I left her before, I was fragile and this time I will never give up on us because giving up is a weakness. There is always one more chance to try to succeed. I have been given another chance with Roxy, and this time our love will reach its full potential.

I escape to the beach for a long, mind clearing surf.

I paddle out, and then quicken my strokes, paddling harder to try to increase my speed. I splash the cool refreshing water on my face to cease the thoughts in my head.
It does the trick.
I miss my girl, and it’s only been one day. Damn, the passion and sexy times we have are the ultimate.

I see a big wave coming, rolling in along the whitewash; it’s calling me, so I head to it as fast as my forearms will take me. The burn hits and my ribs ache, but I won’t give up. Giving up is not an option. I reach my wave and stand, feet spread, and it’s a nice size. I ride the swirl of the wave.

I feel free, weightless, and not bombarded with bullshit. I breathe in the salty fresh air; it fills my lungs and calms me with each inhale. In with the positive thoughts, out with the negative.

I was no doubt born to surf.

Happy with my wave, I jump into the inviting ocean, splashing and enjoying the cold sensation on my skin. I never get sick of the refreshing feeling. I swim to the surface, finding my board and the smell of the fresh salt air.
