It

rude
how
we
just
left
her
there.”
She
looked
back
over
her
shoulder
at
the
wo

still watching
them
with
a
confused,
outraged
look
on
her
face.

“No,
we

to
the

arket.
We
couldn’t
have
talked
to
her
a

J
ager said.

Meeka
couldn’t
stop
looking
back
at
the
wo

an.
“Perhaps
we
s
hould
go
back
to
see
if
her pet
is
ok

I
can’t
believe
y

it,
Pad

y

Meeka
excla

“The
thing
was
biting

Meeka
stopped.

I’m
not
sure
if
I
want
to
go
to
the

tore
through
Jager’s
s

chest.

H

can
it
be
to
get
her

He
bit
his
tongue,
causing
blood
to
pool
in
his

His

the
rage boiling
in
his
veins.
His
sto

at
the
thought
of
having
to
be
nice
to
the
little bitch.

Fuck!
I’ve
got
to
make
this
better
and
convince
her
everything
is
okay.
I’d
better
think
of
a good
lie.

He
stopped
and looked into Meeka’s
e

es,
forcing tears
to for
m

an
easy
job. He
refused to
let
hi

until

then
he

“Whatever

He
wiped
his

“Pad

Meeka asked
softl

, bending down
to
look
her
in the
face.

Jager
could

at
this,
he
was
sure
of
it.
“It’s
just…well,
I
didn’t
want
to

but
I

His
small voice
w

and
he
pretended
to
wipe
away
tears.

“Oh,
Pad

I’m

I’d

Meeka

Resolute

she
grabbed Padd

and

walking
again.

Jager
sighed,
stupid

bleeding

They

Spotting
the flags

he
restrained

The

and
Thalius
were just
ahead.
His

J

Timing
was
going
to

vital.

Meeka

Quick,

and

Meeka

It
