“You should get your rest...you had quite a fright...”

“But isn't that what you're here for? To keep me safe? To take care of me?”

She leaned closer to him and gave him just a peck. His jaw dropped.

“Yes,” he groaned.

“I need you right now. Like before. Can you do that again?”

“I could do better,” he said with a devious smile.

Better? There was better than that?

He kissed her forehead sweetly, then swept lower, his kisses growing in ferocity as he made his way down. When he got to her collarbone, they were rough against her hot flesh. His hands swerved over her fidgeting hips, keeping them in place for him to love.

She was shaking uncontrollably before he got to her thighs. He bit her left upper thigh, then slowly pulled her dress down. Her pussy was wet, tightening, aching for him. Her clit was throbbing.

And he hadn't even touched her there yet.

After inhaling, his grin doubled in size. “You are irresistible, aren't you?”

Nico pulled down her dress all the way. She didn't wiggle at first, which wasn't right, she really
did
want this. But a sudden nervousness had overtaken her. In a panic, she sat on her elbows, watching as Nico's smug grin turned into an expression of focused devotion. He pulled down her thong, revealing her needy, waiting pussy.

He breathed out, then sucked past his teeth. He lowered himself between her thighs. That sudden panic broke over her. Her muscles seized up and she thought she'd feint.

The first lick could've had her through the roof. She found herself still on her elbows, though. “Wait,” the word shot out of her mouth before she could stop it.

“It might be a little too late for that, don't you think?” he asked, his breath still warm and making her wetter.

What was wrong with her?

Here was the perfect man willing to protect her. The perfect lover. Yet she was filled with panic and uncertainty.

“Kiss me again,” she said.

Why did she feel so weak?

Nico obliged eagerly. He gave her some fluttering kisses.

When he was through, she was panting, swaying her hips, trying to rub against the long bar of his hard cock.

He dove down between her thighs again. This time, he caged them there. Then he licked with a single long swipe. The tip of his tongue caressed her clit for a few extra seconds, teasing her playfully.

“Do you want me to wait now?”

She quickly shook her head no.

Cass had been afraid, which had nothing to do with Nico. She hoped he knew that. It had to do with
her.

She
didn’t trust
herself.
She didn't think herself strong enough to survive this. Or good enough to love or be loved. Cass was a virgin for a long time in her life, avoiding any type of close connection with a man, because that could lead to her being hurt.

She might try to project a strong exterior, but the truth was, inside, Cass never thought herself good enough.

Either she was starting to believe, or Nico's kissing had distracted her for long enough.

When he licked, flicked, and swirled his tongue around her pussy, that was all that mattered—those beautiful motions, that amazing way that he wrote upon her skin, leaving notes that she would remember forever.

Cass would get nothing out of life until she would thrust herself upon it openly, without worrying about the consequences.

And that's exactly what she did that night. With
a lot
of help from Nico.

His tongue reached inside her, pushing her thighs wider. His tongue fucked her, stroking inside her, building that fire until it erupted, the bridge of his nose still rubbing against her clit.

Never, did he let go of her.

“I'm....I'm...Ooh.”

“Come for me, beautiful. Come,” he called out, his lips slippery with her juices, his tongue flashing over her clit...

Just as she was thrusting off her elbows, he put two fingers inside her and rubbed.

“Oh My God!”

She sucked in, every muscle clenching, then releasing all at once as her orgasm struck. Steamrolled, her screams dropped to a whisper as she lay flat, pulse racing, body singing.

He kissed her thighs jumping with excitement.

There was no way she was going to sleep very long tonight. Now she was far too excited.

Nico licked his lips. Heat rushed to her cheeks.

He crawled up beside her.

“Now, what did you interrupt me to tell me?”

She was so happy she could cry.

“Nothing. I was just feeling...a little self-conscious. A little undeserving.”

“Undeserving? You've done so much for yourself.”

“Not when it comes to romance. Or falling in love.”

Nico kissed her ear. Her leg kicked. She’d thought it useless. “Don't worry, I'll take care of that.”

“It sounds like you're going to be taking care of a lot of things for me,” Cass remarked, then looked over her shoulder at Nico's extremely obvious hard on. “Now let me take care of something for you.”

Feeling more capable than ever, she dropped down to please her mate.

T
he kaleidoscope
of New York City lights flashed by him. Nico didn't usually like this city...there were far too many people for his liking.

Tonight, he wasn't that offended.

A swarm of people under the skyscrapers didn't make him feel claustrophobic like before.

That's what months of being with Cass had done to him. He knew if he didn't meet her, he'd be looking at the mass with distain.

He'd opened up a lot.

The fans were back on his side. But that’s not what really mattered. Nico loved the game. The cheering, the booing, that was secondary now. He was merely doing what he loved.

Now he hoped he'd be able to do what he really loved tonight.

Yeah, it was a bit childish, but he was horny. Cass and Nico had been away for a whole three days. They'd been together every day for a while. Being away from her, he missed her, and he didn't know a better way to cure that than a passionate fuck.

My, she'd turned his life upside down. That curvy girl, riding him, bucking on the end of him, her hips shaking and her eyes rolling in the back of her head as she screamed out how much she loved him…

If he wasn't careful, he was going to bust in his pants like a young dragon.

"Sir, we'll be there in a minute," the driver said over the intercom.

Nico pressed the talk button. "Thank you."

Just the sight of her could get him rock hard.

He was still into her as much as the first day they met. Actually, even more.

Nico leaned back, closed his eyes, and let out a long breath as he thought about being inside her again.

She was going to be speaking on National News Tonight. It was almost a year since she spoke the first time.

He'd better watch out, or she might become more popular than him. He laughed at the thought; it wasn't a bad one.

"We're here, sir," the taxi driver said.

"One minute please." Or several. He didn't know how long it would take to clear his head.

He was crazy about this girl.

It seemed that Jae had forgotten about her. Once he knew that Nico had claimed her, he didn't dare start another war. They would be meeting at the Championship Game anyway, he was sure, where they’d fight for the MVP ring.

Knowing how dragons were, there were many bets on who would get it. The red or the silver dragon. This was going to be one hell of a game.

He headed out of the limo and into the news building. The top floor was where he’d meet his mate.

He found her beside the camera lights, looking stunning, like a classic movie star. She had the glamour and the class of one.

"You look stunning, Cassandra," he said.

"Oh, Cassandra. You're using Cassandra. That must mean you're serious today," she said. The girl patting her with last minute makeup scurried away.

Cass came to greet him with a big hug.

She squeezed his junk. "Or it means you want something."

"I'm sure you're my fated mate. It's like you can read my mind."

"That's what you say, anyway. How do I look?"

She spun around in her black dress that accentuated her curves. There was a keyhole opening on her chest, showing off one of her best physical assets—those lovely breasts.

His erection started again. This woman would not let up on him.

He grabbed her shapely hips. He pressed his erection against the soft curve of her stomach.

And Nico would not let up on her.

"We can't do this here. I'm about to go live in front of the nation. Instead, you're more worried about getting off."

Nico ran his fingers higher up to the next arousing curve, her bust.

She froze. Even though there were many walking around them, she didn't stop him. Her cheeks were fiery red.

"You're going to have me walking on camera a mess."

"And who do you think they'll think made you a mess? They'll all be talking about how you just rode the dragon..."

Chuckling, she started to push him away. Nico didn't like them breaking apart but he could understand it.

"I just wanted to show you how much I missed you."

"Oh, you proved your point," she said, staring down at his bulge. "Now go hide yourself. I don't want others looking at that. This is the worst place for a celebrity bad boy to be with a boner, you're in a TV studio!"

"Yeah, yeah, if I'm going to be walking by you all the time, they're going to have to get used to seeing me aroused."

She gulped.

"Good luck, beautiful," he said, giving her a soft, quick kiss. Then he turned around, heading for the exit.

"I'll be waiting in the limo for you afterward."

On his way, he thought about Jae again—the best way to kill any arousal.

In the back of his mind, he always knew the red dragon would strike again. He always wondered if Jae had something to do with his parents' death as well.

Jae was only a child, though, he thought to himself, the elevator ring awaking him of his paranoid delusion. Dragons didn't trust much. Biologically, he was prone to this, so he needed to keep that in mind.

His parents had died that night as well. Poisoned, in their own home. Their treasure was also stolen afterwards. It had been as equally hard on him.

As he hopped into the limo, Nico decided that he should let those thoughts rest.

This was a new chapter in his life.

And now that he was behind some darkened windows, in the privacy of his own limo, he went back to fantasizing about Cass.

Her sweet curves, her fuckable body, her lips wrapped around his cock...

The TV in the limo showed him his delectable mate. She talked about her new book, a shifter medical book, less technical and more fun. She was making shifters more accessible to the common person, by telling them all cool stories about their abilities.

They’d all been right. She was brilliant.

Interview over, Cass in the limo, he wasted no time in taking her.

It started with him worshipping her body all over with his tongue. Then it was Cass sucking him off so they wouldn't have to fuck in the back. Except that didn't work.

He lasted.

He needed to be inside of her.

His dragon roared to claim all of her, to create an offspring. Not many dragons met their fated mates like this, so for his dragon to, it was beginning to get unruly.

Nico unbuckled his belt. He unzipped and his cock pushed out, full and hard. There was no one who could see them. The driver was blocked out with a locked privacy screen.

He picked her up and straddled her across his lap. She sank down onto his cock, right on down to his balls slowly. His groan probably shook the city.

Cass rocked on him. Slow. It was painful for him. He wanted all of her, but he remained patient, until she shuddered, her thighs and arms trembling too much.

He took over, powering into Cass, thrusting her to his shoulders, where she remained as he swung his hips, angling his cock to slam into her.

Nico kept going until she came.

Then it was time to get his.

It didn't take long, not long at all, to come for his fated mate. Cass hopped off at the last second, swallowing him instead.

They were disheveled, breathing hard in the back seat by the time the limo drove away.

C
ass tossed
her book upon the stack of books she had piled around her. She was using Coach's office to do some research. So many books might frighten another person. To her, this was paradise.

She was getting to a fantastic subject that she couldn't stop reading, about shifters kept in captivity and experimented upon before there were laws against that, but this was the Championship Game, which meant she would be needed at all hours to prepare.

In five minutes she was due for an interview.

They were all interested in her romance with Nico. What did she have planned for the future? Did she see a wedding? A family? Cass wished she had an answer to any of those questions.

While this whirlwind romance was wonderful, she wondered where they were headed. Nico kept his lips shut about it, and she didn't really want to break the subject. He'd called her his fated mate before, which made her swoon, but what did that mean, exactly?

Was there some sort of ritual?

She checked many books to try to find out more about dragons, but they were annoyingly mysterious. The forum posts she read were pretty generic too.

There wasn't enough information on them, so Cass started to scribble notes whenever she had a chance. Maybe someday her notes would create a foundation for others to learn from. Someday a girl in this situation could use some notes on how to handle their dragon man.

Until then, she was just as clueless as everyone else.

She needed to be by his side, needed to support him. The rest of the chatter could wait for later.

She was sure that he loved him. Cass felt that overwhelming, lifting love inside her. He was very good at expressing that.

Their last night together, Class clawing the sheets and howling for joy as he rammed into her, sending her to new heights, it all came back to her happily.

After this season was over, she'd invite him to go back home. He'd meet her parents. That might be embarrassing because she was sure her dad would never stop asking questions, but she loved her parents. She was sure that they would like Nico too.

They always wanted someone to support her. And most of all, someone who could make her smile, who could make her enjoy life.

That was something she'd been missing for so long.

With an upbeat step, Cass left the office to seek out her next interview.

The players had to be exhausted before they got to the field. It was such a spectacle. She felt for them.

As she walked past the crowds backstage, many of whom were the friends and families of loved ones, she saw a young mother and a child holding hands. The girl was cute, too cute, with a big bow on her and giant eyes that looked anime-like.

"Hi," she said and waved.

"Hi," Cass said.

Her mother stopped in her tracks. "Oh my—" she shouted, once she realized who she was. "My daughter adores you."

Cass didn't know she could feel humility in front of a three-year-old, but here she was. How did the three-year-old even know who she was?

"You da best."

"Why thank you!" Cass said, half a question, half exasperation. What made her so special?

Cass stood there dumbfounded until the kid decided their conversation was over. She was obviously the one in control here.

"Come on, Mom," she said as they headed off down the hallway in the opposite direction.

A hero? What did she do? It was Nico who had saved her. She was no hero. A hero for rushing over when a child fell? That wasn't a hero, that was just someone panicking, following their gut.

Cass shrugged as she headed further, still thinking about the little girl and her mom.

Would Nico marry her? She was growing frustrated with the questioning. Most shifters adopted that custom. Some even had it in their societies. Of course, most didn't believe in going to a wedding chapel in a white dress. Some had elaborate ceremonies that put ordinary human ones to shame.

With little info, she had to assume she wouldn’t be married, at least not traditionally. He’d been very quiet about it.

But mating? With the wildness in him, it probably meant he'd want a baby. A family.

She sighed again. Dragons were complicated.

Shifters were already complicated enough. But dragons.

Dragons were really trouble. Some would say not worth the trouble.

Too bad for Cass, she fell in love with one, and he was her world now. She was hedging all her bets on this relationship.

Nico would protect her, but would he understand that she wanted a family, a stable place to settle down? He was a warrior going to a different battle ground each week.

Cass couldn't ask him to give that up. But she also couldn't deny what she wanted.

Once outside, in the humid Arizona heat, she looked around to try to find the camera crew. Many of the press were still broadcasting outside of the stadium.

She spotted the SSPN flag and began to walk across the street towards them. The parking lot was cordoned off with tons of security. It had been months since she heard from Jae.

It seemed that the attack that she repelled had made him change his mind. And being with Nico, she had forgotten about it. Now she felt safe.

She passed by the space of two cars, families walking in the other direction, a throng of people all pumped up and some already intoxicated to see the huge game.

A hand slipped across her lips and yanked her against a parked vehicle.

Cass looked straight into the devil's eyes once again. She whimpered against him, even struck him in the chest with her knee, but it didn't leave a dent. He didn't even flinch.

His nails jabbed her wrists as he whispered, "If you want something done, you've got to do it yourself."

She tried to bite his hand, tried to scream, but he was too strong. Jae used his shifter strength against her while keeping her pinned to the car.
