“I love you” The deathly whisper of Sullivan’s voice drew everyone’s attention.  Sky ran over and dropped to the floor in front of him.  Sullivan’s eyes were already weak as they stared up at Sky.

“No, stay with me, Sullivan.  Stay with me.  No, no…”  Sky’s voice was filled with heartache as he picked his mate up and rocked him back and forth.  “No, don’t leave me.  Please don’t leave me.”

Star and River dropped down beside their brother.  They put their hands over the wound and tried to heal him, but nothing was working.  “Why isn’t it working?”  Star shouted.  They could feel the pain pouring out of their brother.  His heart was breaking, and they could all feel his agony as he sobbed.

“Let me try.”  The king lowered himself beside Sullivan.  “Will you let me try?”  He asked Sky, but her brother was heartbroken.  He wouldn’t let go when Jonas tried to pull him away.

“Don’t touch him,” Sky’s voice became angry.  They’d never seen him act like this.  It broke everyone’s heart as he continued to cry in pain.

“Sky, let him help.”  Star’s voice was loud as she tried to reach her brother, with no luck.

“Help us!” she yelled at her mates, who bent down and pulled Sky backwards, allowing the king to pick Sullivan’s body up.  He bit down into his wrist, and when the blood started to flow he put it over Sullivan’s mouth.

“No, no, don’t touch him.”  Sky yelled out.  Jansen remembered what June had said last night.  Her son came to her in a dream and said to tell him that when we think all else has failed, someone will come, but we have to allow him to something that doesn’t seem possible.  Bringing someone back from the dead fit this situation.

“Let me help him, Sky.  I promise it will be okay.”  Jansen assured him.

Sullivan had been dead for about two minutes when the King’s blood dropped down his throat.  His body jerked, then gasped for air.  Everyone watched as Sullivan started coughing.  Slowly his eyes opened.

“Unbelievable.”  Reece responded.  All eyes watched as a man who had been dead was brought to life again by drinking the king’s blood.

“Let me go.  Let me go.”  Sky struggled until the king nodded and he was released.  He ran and dropped down in front of Sullivan.

“Hey baby,” Sullivan whispered.  Star and everyone else blew out the breath they’d been holding.

Sky smiled and whispered, “Are you okay?”

Sullivan pulled himself up.  The color had returned to his face and his wounds healed in front of their eyes.  “Wow!  How…”  Sullivan stared up at the King.  “No way.”

“It was his blood that saved you,” Sky told him.  “We tried but we couldn’t do it.”

“You’re Sindrid Abner,” Sullivan muttered, shocked.  His eyes widened as he stared up at him.

“Yes, I am, and who are you?” the king questioned.

Sullivan could barely spit his name out.  This was the king; he was here in person and had just saved his life.  “Sullivan…Sullivan Grayson.”

“You are the one who took the Book of Primal Elders?”

“Well, yes, technically. Yes. But I gave it to the Vampire’s Council so it would always be with your people.”  Sullivan didn’t know now if he’d done the right thing.

“Very good, but next time how about seeing me before you go giving stuff away that doesn’t belong to you?  The book is mine, but I will get it back,” the king announced, then stood up.  “Now, what do we do with you?”  Sindrid Abner glared at Regis.

Everyone turned around and stared at Regis Yulson.  “You know my rule, Regis,” the king said.

“Yes, but King Abner, I was only trying to keep the Powerful Three from falling into the wrong hands.  I only wanted to help—”

“Silence!” the king yelled.  “I sentence you to death, Regis Yulson.

“You can’t do this.  I’m one of your children.”  Regis’s voice cracked.

“I can, and I just did. You’ll never harm another again.”  The room fell silent as the king reached up and grabbed the Locket of Trenton off his neck, put it around his, and then motioned to his guards, who grabbed ahold of Regis and dragged him kicking and screaming out of the room.

“What about the others?”  One of the guards asked the king.

The King turned and stared at Regis’s guards.  “I release you all from Regis Yulson’s hold.  If you have families then go get them, but if I ever see you here again then you will be killed.”  All the guards quickly dropped their weapons and left out the door.  His voice alone released them from Regis’s hold.

Chapter 18

“What will they do with him?”  River asked, as they watched Regis being dragged out.

“No worries, little one, he’ll never harm another person again.  Now let’s sit down and talk.  We have some things to discuss about you three.”  The king didn’t wait for them, he just turned and walked toward the dining room.

“Let’s go get a drink.  I know I can use one,” Reece responded.

They all stepped over the bodies and followed the king into the dining room, where he sat at the largest table.  Larken and Larsen walked to the bar, grabbed some beer and liquor bottles, and brought them over for everyone.

Star watched as her brother stared at his mate as though he was going to disappear. What she was really worried about was whether they’d somehow lost their powers when they couldn’t bring Sullivan back from the dead.  Together they were supposed to be able to do that.

“Why couldn’t we bring Sullivan back?”  Star asked the king.

“Don’t know, little one.  Sometimes, the fates put obstacles in front of us and we never know why,” the king answered.

“Did we lose our power?”

“No, the fates just choose me to bring him back to your brother.  I do think that you need help in knowing what you can and can’t do with your powers.  You see, together you will be considered the three most powerful paranormals in the world.  You’re here to keep one group from being more powerful than the other.  History has proven time and time again that there should never be a one-party government.  Too much power in one person’s hands isn’t good for any of us. The fates have chosen for you three to be the governing party, so to speak.  What you do with your power is up to you, but if you need help, I’ll be around to do that.  I feel like I’m needed here where you are just in case someone else gets a little power hungry.  Plus, I can help you with your training.  Is this okay with all of you?”

“You got my vote,” Sky announced.  He sounded happy, which made everyone turn and smile.

“You have mine, but I can’t speak for my mates.”  Reece turned and looked at River and Jonas.

River looked up at Reece and put her hand on his face.  “I go where my mates go.”

Jonas grabbed River’s hand. “You’re bleeding.”  The hole was still gaping open as blood dripped off her arm.

Star and Sky ran over; they both bent down and placed their hands over the wound.  Immediately, they all glowed.  River glanced down and the wound was mended like it was never there.

“We have so much to learn.  I think you have all of our votes,” Reece spoke.

Everyone in the group nodded their head in agreement as the king’s guards walked in without Regis Yulson.  One guard came and stood to the side of Sindrid and nodded to him.

“Do you mind if my guards have something to drink?”  Sindrid asked.

“Of course not.”  Larken got up and went behind the bar, bringing out more bottles of beer for the guards, then looked out the window toward the convention center.  “I almost forgot about the Valentines’ Dance.  Happy Valentine’s Day, my love.”  Larken kissed his mate and then smiled when Larsen kissed Ash.

“Valentine’s Day.  I forgot that today is what they call Valentine’s Day,” Sindrid muttered.

“We have a Valentine’s Dance for all the packs and Reece’s people, and other paranormals, to see if they can find their mates.  We have a great success with the dances,” Larken commented.

Star could see the sad look in the king’s eyes when Larken spoke of mates.  She couldn’t help herself; she knew his mate was coming to him soon.  She reached out and patted his hand.  “Your mate is coming soon.  I feel it.”

“Me too,” Sky and River both said at the same time.

The king smiled but shook his head.  “I don’t think I’m supposed to have a mate.  It has been a long time, and nothing has come of it.”

“Yes, she is coming.”  Star had no idea why she felt that way; she just knew.

“I’ve always dreamed of having a mate, but unfortunately it hasn’t happened.  I will keep my eyes open.”  Sindrid winked, then smiled at her.

“Why don’t we clear up the mess in the front lobby and then get ourselves cleaned up and go to the Valentine’s Dance.  I think we all need a break, and some dancing wouldn’t hurt either.  It would be our honor, King Abner, if you would join us tonight for some fun, and then come back here as my guest for as long as you want.  I have a penthouse on the top floor that has three bedrooms in it for you and some of your guards.  We can find more rooms for the rest of them,” Larken suggested.

“Thank you.  I’ll gladly pay you until I can have my home built here.  I think it’s time for my wandering days to end, and for me put down some roots here.  That is what Ne-ma suggested to me.  She said my life was here now.”  Sindrid shrugged.  “Maybe she’s right.”

“Great news.  If you’ll follow me I can show you to your rooms.  I have some staff who can come in and help with the cleaning.”  Larken leaned over and kissed his mate.

“Thank you for your help.”  Jansen looked down and blew out his breath.  “I don’t know what we would have done if you hadn’t shown up.”

Sindrid got up from the table and stood in front of Jansen.  “I think Regis would have died, because all the Powerful Three needed to do was grasp each other’s hands, and the power you generated together would have blown him up along with his men.  You see, the power is within all of you, but together it becomes something nobody ever wants to see. And it would have probably blown the whole roof and side of the building off too.”  He pointed at her eyes.  “I see that your body has already started to change.  Your eyes are violet now.”

Star ran over to the mirror and looked.  Just like the king said, her eyes were violet.  Her mates came up behind her and smiled at her in the mirror.

“Beautiful as always,” Jansen commented.

She turned around and hugged them, swallowing past the huge lump in her throat.  “I never want to be without you again,” Star said softly.  She was scared that the world would be looking to them for answers, and she had none to give.  Life had changed for her within the last month, but now every paranormal nation would be looking to them to make sure the balance between good and evil would work out, but how, she couldn’t tell.

“You never will be alone again.  Let’s go take a hot bath,” Banks suggested moving his eyebrows up and down in a joking manner.

“Okay.”  Star smiled.  Even though she was scared, she was happy too.

Jansen drove them all back to the cabin to rest for a few minutes and then get ready to go to the party.  It had already started, but these dances went on all night long.  They had some time to rest before they went to the convention center.

“You look tired, my love.”  Jansen’s voice was soft as he spoke to Star.

“I am, to be honest; and scared.  What the king said is bothering me.  He pretty much said that we would have to keep the peace between everyone.  How?  How do I do that, when I can’t even find that between us sometimes?”

Lightly, Jansen skimmed his fingers over her face.  She closed her eyes to his touch.  Her mates soothed her like nobody could.  Her adrenaline dropped the moment he touched her skin.  His touch brought every emotion to the surface, as the fear of what had almost taken place broke free.  Hot tears streamed down her face until she couldn’t stand it anymore and fell into his arms.

Jansen held her close, then motioned to Banks, who quickly started taking her clothes off.  He knew she was thinking that all the stress would be placed on her shoulders, but as one of her mates he would be helping her along the way and she needed to know that.

Banks had turned the water on in the bathtub and got in; he held his hands up as Jansen placed their crying mate into his arms.  He made quick work of his clothes then climbed in opposite of them.  He waited until she stopped crying before he spoke.

“I know you feel like the whole world is on your shoulders, but that’s not how it’s going to be.  We’re your mates, and as your mates we’ll be there to help you along the way in this journey.  What the king meant was that we would all do this together.”  Jansen picked up her foot and started massaging it.  She finally moaned and leaned back into Banks.  “Together, baby.”

Star opened her eyes and whispered, “Together.”

Banks eased his hands around and massaged her breasts.  His hard body pressed to hers.  All she wanted to do was feel her mates.  Nothing else mattered right now.  His hands felt so warm as they scraped against her nipples, then moved lower until she could feel Jansen’s finger slowly slide inside of her.

She gasped and her head fell back against his chest when the orgasm rushed forward and caught her off guard.  Star grabbed her mate’s legs and pushed out, grinding herself against Jansen’s hand.  Banks didn’t waste time with formalities; he picked her up and slid her on top of him.  “Ride me, baby.”  His raw words reverberated against her neck.

Slowly, she slid down until his size stopped her from going any further.  “Are you okay?”  Banks asked.

“Yes, but I need to move.”  Star lifted herself up then slowly lowered herself back down until all she could feel was pure pleasure.  The intensity of his teeth scraping against his mark drove her to move faster.  “Oh, that feels so good.  Do that again.”

Banks grabbed her by the hair and pulled her head to the side then scraped his teeth over his mark again.  “You like that, baby?”

Star could only nod until he bit down over, throwing her into another orgasm.  Her body wanted more, and she lifted herself up and down, going faster.

She wanted both of her mates.  She opened her eyes and watched as Jansen stroked his cock while he watched her and Banks together.  “Stand up,” she ordered her mate.  She wanted him too, and she was taking charge.

Jansen smiled at her demand, but stood up in front of her.  He was beautifully tanned everywhere.  No one could compare to her mates.  They were pieces of fine art, she thought as he stood tall in front of her.  She was beyond ready when she leaned forward and took him deep inside her mouth.  Pulling out, she licked the head of his cock like a sucker until it drove him crazy.  Grabbing her hair, Jansen slowly pushed himself inside of her throat driving her the way he liked it.  She didn’t realize just how much she liked it when they took charge.

“You like that, don’t you baby?”  Reaching down, she grasped Jansen’s balls then rubbed them until he grunted.  He couldn’t hold on any longer.  This woman knew exactly where to touch him when he release inside her mouth.

She continued to move up and down on Banks until he grabbed her around the waist and pounded inside of her.

“Yes, harder,” she begged.  She loved every minute of their lovemaking until they both came together, screaming out each other names.

Star relaxed as she leaned back against Banks.  Her body felt spent and sated for the first time in a long, long time.  It was her mates who’d made her feel like she was loved for the first time in her life.  She could barely keep her eyes open until Jansen got out.

“Do you want to go to the dance or stay home and rest?”  Jansen asked as he dried off.

“I want to go and celebrate.  We need to have some fun.  It’s been such a long time since I actually danced with a man.  Plus, I want to go to support Lilly.  She needs all of us there tonight.  For some reason I feel we should all be there.”

“I don’t dance,” Banks informed her.

“Tonight you can just move your feet and hold me, then.”  She twisted around, staring at him until he kissed her on the nose.  “Okay.  I can stand there and hold you.”

She and Jansen both laughed.

“I just need some food, and maybe some orange juice, and then I’ll feel like new,” she admitted in a soft voice.

“I’ll take care of the food and…”

“I know what to do with our mate,” Banks said, then got out and dried off then picked her up and sat her down on the side of the cabinet.  “Take care of her.”

Star smiled and rubbed her head against his chest.

“What are you doing?”  Banks asked.

“Making sure my scent is all over you.  I know what’s going to happen when those single women see you two.  I want them to know that you’re taken.”  Star continued to rub her scent all over him.  When she looked up, Banks had his eyes closed with a big smile on his face.

“Are we going to stay here long?”  Joseph asked the king.

“Yes, I’m tired of looking.  I feel this is where we’re needed the most.  The Powerful Three need our help, and I know the most about them.  Start looking for some land close to where they live.  I want to be near them in case they need me,” Sindrid answered.

“Yes, your majesty.”  Joseph quietly walked away.

Sindrid wondered if his guards were lonely.  They had to be, just like him.  They needed to find their mates too.  Freedom, Colorado was as good a place as anywhere, he thought.

Maybe the little one was right and his mate would be near.  It was a long shot, but he needed to be here with the Powerful Three anyway.  Regis Yulson was only the beginning.  They would be forever bombarded with powerful men wanting to use their power for their own greed.
