Some ghost groups say they don’t use psychics and sensitives, but that’s a mistake. You can’t have a paranormal experience without the human element, otherwise you’re just talking about energy and energy can be a lot of different things. You have to have the psychic to relay the experience and the human mind to find the meaning in it. The best technology we have for detecting the paranormal is still the human mind, so I hope to see ghost groups and parapsychologists work together more to find the answers we all seek.

Paranormal research is very much based in the field, and we need to transfer the data to lab experiments in a controlled environment to draw definite conclusions about the results. Everyone is focused on these experiences in the field, which is fun and important, but they do not hold up to science. We need to transfer our experiments and findings to a lab where we can show reliability and repeatability.

The greatest possible outcome of paranormal research is to develop a technology that can observe events that happened in the past. The idea is that we eventually develop a machine that functions like a pair of goggles that lets us see into the past, which I think is actually all around us now. Most ghostly phenomena seems to be the recreation of something that happened a long time ago. If we can understand how this works and adapt that knowledge to a technology that can allow us to see how that works, it will revolutionize
all
aspects of mankind. It will affect how we view ourselves and our personalities, and will have profound impacts on our privacy and who we are.

The big picture is this: Every event that has happened in the past is still present. It is all around us and resonates at a frequency that we cannot transform into a visible frequency. But somehow the environment does it. The past and its energy are held in the present somehow by Mother Nature, which we humans are a part of. I believe the past is accessible at any moment in time. Past, present, and future could be happening at the exact same time. We are fairly certain that the environment can record past events. We just can’t tap into that mechanism yet. If we could, then everything that has ever happened would be there to be observed. It’s the ultimate goal of paranormal investigation.

Imprint theory is the first big step we should delve into. I believe it is correct in theorizing emotional events leave an imprint on the field of the universe. I’ve seen it. After that we should try to understand the conscious nature of life in general. Does something remain outside of the physical shell of what we live in (the traditional concept of ghosts)? The traditional viewpoint of humans containing a spirit that corresponds to the physical body is legitimate to me. Once we exist solely in that energy form away from our bodies, maybe we can interact with other spirits in a way that we don’t understand yet. Therefore the next logical step is to determine whether or not humans can exist out of the body alone and in what capacity. We are made up of a physical body and an energy body and need to determine how the separation between the physical body and the energy body works.

The paranormal field should have no future. None at all. Allow me to explain.

My first major book
PSIence: How New Discoveries in Quantum Physics and New Science May Explain the Existence of Paranormal Phenomena
, published several years ago, became the “bible” for many in the field seeking answers outside the box. Subsequent books, such as
The Resonance Key
written with Larry Flaxman, my partner in ParaExplorers, continued the exploration outside the box by focusing on potential mechanisms and causes for paranormal events, such as sound, acoustics, resonance and frequency, the power of belief and intention, the observer effect and consciousness, collective expectation, human physiology, and the role of the brain as receiver and perceiver.

What the hell did all this have to do with ghosts, ESP and aliens, many asked? Well, until we understood our own reality, we might never understand the “alternate” reality of the paranormal.

Instead, the focus remained on “ghost hunting,” “UFO chasing,” and “monster questing,” all of which have their rightful and important place in putting the pieces of the paranormal puzzle together. But these activities focus only on effects—data such as EVP, photos, images, recordings, etc. So today, we have thousands of pieces of “effects” to look at, yet few causes for those effects. Let’s be honest. Do we really need more EVP? More thermal images? More pictures of orbs and shadow figures? Don’t we have enough by now to be able to extrapolate some hypotheses and theories from?

Without some brainpower focused on the causes, the effects become meaningless. The field cannot survive without attention to causes, despite all the great media interest it has merited and the growing number of groups out there hunting and collecting effects. And that means sitting down and coming up with theories, ideas, concepts, THOUGHTS . . . not quite as fun as a good ghost hunt, but necessary to complete the puzzle.

Where should we look for those causes? From quantum and theoretical physics, to seismology, biology, human physiology, and neurology (among other fields), the world of science provides necessary clues to the common denominators behind the origin and manifestation of paranormal phenomena. The study of human consciousness may also hold a key to understanding our own role in paranormal events. As the quantum world tells us, the presence of an “observer” is critical to the outcome of an experiment. What is the one common denominator present in any paranormal investigation or event? Us!

And when we begin to examine our own potential role (physiological and psychological) as either conduits or instigators (or both), of these events, we might finally “get it.”

We once had no understanding of gravity, of the weak and strong nuclear forces, of DNA, of many things we now deem as factual. If we put our collective brainpower behind the causes and not just the effects, the paranormal will one day become obsolete. It will become normal.

We will finally get it. No future required.
