It took some maneuvering to fit her dress into the back of the limousine so they could go to the reception. They did it with laughter as they were showered with rice.
Adam settled her against him, holding her hand. “Mrs. Sara Black. I like the sound of that.”
She relaxed against him. “I love the ring.”
“I enjoyed the search to find it. You like the one you bought me?”
Sara got a good look at it before she slipped it on his finger. A solid plain gold band. It suited him quite well. “Who helped you pick it out?”
“Dave.”
“I can’t believe I never had a clue all the fuss these last two weeks was about us.”
Adam tugged a curl. “Arrangements kept you busy?”
“It was exhausting. Thank goodness I didn’t know it was for us, or I would have been a nervous wreck.”
“I was afraid you would say no.”
Sara leaned back and considered him. “I love you, Adam. I’m just sorry I come with so much baggage.”
He brushed her hair back. “I’m not worried about it. You don’t need to be either. We’ll take it one day at a time. Just enjoy today.”
“Do I get to feed you cake?”
Adam grinned. “And let you mess up this new tux? We’ll take some with us on the plane.”
“We’re taking the jet? Where are we going?” She hadn’t thought about the honeymoon. She wasn’t packed for it.
“Somewhere private.”
Sara laughed softly. “So far it sounds excellent.”
“It will be,” Adam promised. “Don’t worry, those shopping bags Ellen has been carting home are for you.”
“You’re serious?”
He smiled. “Yes.”
Their arrival at the reception as a married couple sent quite a surprised murmur through the crowd. They mingled, making their way through the room.
Adam eventually pulled her onto the dance floor. Sara was more than willing to stay cocooned in his arms and let the talk drift around them.
After a few dances, though, she leaned close to his ear. “How long before we can escape?”
He chuckled. “I thought the bride always liked to linger.”
“Not this one. I want to give my roses to Mary Beth and slip away.” She linked her hands behind his neck, smiling. “I haven’t seen much of you in the last few weeks. I don’t want to share.”
Adam kissed her softly. “Good point. Come on.”
Sara laughed and followed his lead. She was going to love following this man for a lifetime. The future had never promised so much joy.

Dear Reader,
Thank you for reading
Danger in the Shadows. As
an author, I fell in love with Adam and Sara and the story they had to tell. Getting to share their story with you is a pleasure.
Each book is a journey, an opportunity to learn something new about God. This story brought the words from Isaiah 41:10 to life. “Fear not” are two powerful words. Hearing those words is a comfort I have come to treasure.
If that were the only lesson I learned while writing this story, it would have been enough. It was only the first. I also learned God likes to surprise us with joy. He makes love show up in the most amazing places and under the most unlikely circumstances.
God cares about us when we are afraid.
He is bigger than our biggest fears.
He surprises us with joy
He is the One who says, “Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.” Take Him at His word and let Him lift your burdens.
As always, I love to hear from my readers. Feel free to write me:
