Joanna shivered at the hard tone in his voice. Then she closed her eyes, imagining.

“Then, I wanted to put my hand on the back of your neck and push you into the cake. There’d be cake and icing and whipping cream smeared from your face to your nipples.”

“Oh!”

“I’d hold you then, and let every one in the place who wanted a lick or a bite or a kiss to take one.”

“Mike!”

“I could have done it. I could even have auctioned you off to the highest bidder.”

Joanna blinked.

“Or let them all have a go at you.”

She swallowed. “My parents would have been appalled.”

“Well, there is that. That’s why I’m glad you didn’t change.”

“I’m still in my wedding dress.”

“Exactly. When we get to the motel, you’re going to blindfold yourself. Then I’m going to truss you up, just like I said.”

“Like we really are at the reception,” Joanna whispered.

“When you can’t move or escape, I’ll smear that cake all over you. Slowly. Rubbing it in and smearing it wide. Then I’ll eat it off, one lick at a time.”

“It’ll take all night.”

“Probably. Unless I have to spank you for being so sexy and take you first. The cake might have to be consumed in stages. I wonder if anyone in the neighboring rooms will get curious.”

Joanna exhaled and shivered, easily able to imagine the scene. In a tacky hotel room with thin walls, it would be just perfect. She swallowed, feeling herself get hot.

“I assume you’re wearing the gift I sent you.”

“Of course, Mike. The white kid leather corset that’s been keeping me from taking a deep breath all day.”

“I wanted you to remember that you were mine.”

“I am.”

“Then pull your veil over your face again,” Mike instructed and Joanna did as she was told. It fell to her waist in the front. Mike handed her a box, slipping it under the hem of the veil. “Now here’s your second wedding present.”

Joanna opened the box, her breath stopping when she saw the contents. “Silver nipple clamps lined with white fur.”

“Put them on yourself.”

Joanna swallowed and eased down the bodice of her dress, wincing as she put each clamp in place. She was tugging up the cups of the strapless dress when Mike interrupted.

“Look in the bottom of the box.”

“There’s a heavy silver chain,” Joanna whispered, staring at it in awe.

“Hook it to the clamps.”

She hesitated, knowing it would pull on her nipples in an excruciating blend of pleasure and pain.

“Now, Joanna.”

She did as instructed, catching her breath as the cold chain slid down the front of her dress.

“I really wanted to put those on you at the front of the church,” Mike said so calmly that she thought she’d heard him wrong. “I wanted to have you vow to be my possession forever, but I thought people would be shocked.”

“They would have been.”

“Then I wanted to bind you helpless, right in front of all of them.”

Joanna stared at him.

“I couldn’t decide if I should spank you and claim you at the front of the church, or wait until we were in the limo.”

“I can’t believe you were thinking this!”

“The minister would have loved to have held you down for me.”

“Mike!”

“Don’t you consider yourself lucky that you weren’t so humiliated.”

“Does this mean I owe you?”

“Take off your underwear,” he said in a stern tone, then dangled the chain holding one chastity belt key in front of her. “Unlock the belt and touch yourself. I want you wet and ready when we get to the motel.”

“Yes, Mike.”

“Oh, wait, there’s another gift for you in the glove compartment.”

Joanna opened the glove compartment. She found a new package of white cable ties, a vial of the arousing lubricant sold by the Plume, and an envelope. She looked at Mike.

“Open it.”

She opened the envelope and looked at the single word written on the card inside. It too her a moment to understand, then she smiled. “My safe word.”

“Exactly. Now, put lots of that lubricant on your puss, and hide the cable ties somewhere so they’ll be accessible. We’re five minutes away and I’m feeling impatient.”

“Yes, Mike,” Joanna whispered, her heart bursting with happiness.

That was nothing compared to what else she felt later that night, and it was only a taste of their shared future ahead.

Rex didn’t see the envelope Julius had left on his desk until the morning after the party. Michelle was still sleeping so he opened it quietly, not wanting to disturb her.

Then he had to sit down, he was so surprised by its contents. He could give her everything she wanted. He could make a partnership with her and take a chance on love and attraction lasting more than a few months.

They could create a future.

They had no illusions about each other even now, and he knew that would give their relationship a resiliency that would only grow. Rex chose to trust. He signed the document in triplicate, knowing that he was making the right choice, knowing that this adventure would be the greatest one of all.

Then he stood by the bed, watching Michelle sleep, a hard knot in his throat. Rex listened to his heart and believed in the future.

As if she’d heard him thinking, Michelle awakened then. She stretched luxuriously, smiling at Rex. When he sat on the edge of the bed, almost overwhelmed by emotion, she caught his hand. “Is something wrong?”

“No. I think everything’s right,” Rex said. Instead of handing her the envelope as he’d intended, he bent and captured her lips with his own. He tossed the envelope on the side table as they rolled back into bed together.

Even news like this could wait an hour or two when there was already so much to celebrate.
