With her belongings secure on her back, she took the first step and then another. Her thoughts were not of the receding soldiers as she left the barrier of the tree. Her attention was only on the ground ahead and the path to the desert, where her goal was to note every wonder, every detail, which she would share with Gavenas when she returned to him. Perhaps she would push toward the Black Sea and to the great ash caves. Determined, she planned much to share with Gavenas, both new lessons of dance and words when she returned.

For she did belong to him.
