Layton laughed. “Damn, sounds like he knew his shit. What town was he from in Texas?”

I snapped my eyes open, and my heart started pounding.

Oh my God. The man I remembered looked exactly like…Layton.

“Um…Llano. He was from Llano.”

I was looking at Layton, and his smile faded. He stopped the truck, put it in park, and looked at me.

“What was his name?”

My chest started moving up and down. “Fast-Track Jack. I mean, his name was Jack, but that’s what the guys at the track called him.”

I watched as all the color drained from Layton’s face.

“Layton…”

He turned and looked straight ahead. We sat there for a good five minutes in silence.

“I know now why he had to leave.”

I shook my head, confused. “Your dad? You know why he left you and Mike?”

He looked back at me and smiled slightly. “He had to leave me in order for you to find me.”

I felt tears building in my eyes. “Oh, Layton.”

I unbuckled my seat belt and crawled over onto his lap. My lips found his, and I ran my fingers through his hair as he moved his hand up my dress.

“Whitley, my father led you to me.” His kisses quickly turned more passionate.

I felt him moving his seat back as I pulled my lips from his.

“Layton…Oh God…Layton,” I whispered.

I watched him unbuckle his pants, and I sat up slightly, so he could pull them down and expose himself to me. I lifted my dress and pushed my panties over, so I could sit down on him.

“Oh. My. God,” I said as I sank down onto him, feeling him fill my body.

I didn’t even want to move. I just wanted to feel him inside me. I was so damn sore from all the sex, but I didn’t care.

“God, Whit…baby, I need you to move.”

I slowly started moving up and down, feeling him go in and out of my body. He pulled down the top of my dress and buried his face into my chest as I threw my head back.

“Baby, are you sore?” He placed kiss after kiss along my neck and chest.

“It’s okay…feels so good,” I said in between pants.

I couldn’t get enough of him. I wanted him to be buried so deep inside me. I felt myself trying to go faster and harder. I needed more of him.

I was totally blaming this behavior on Courtney and that damn erotica book she’d had me read.

“God, Layton…I can’t get enough of you! I need you…so…much.”

“Faster, baby…go faster,” he said, breathing deeply.

I moved as fast as I could, feeling his dick pounding into me. Each movement was better than the last. I started to feel that familiar build-up, and I prepared myself for another intense orgasm.

“Oh God, Layton…I’m about to come!”

Wait—is that a horn honking?

“Whit…”

I started going faster.

Fuck, he’s hitting something.

“Um…Whit…”

There’s the horn again.

Layton grabbed my hips and stopped me from moving.

I snapped my eyes open and looked at him. “Layton! I was just about to come!”

He smiled the cutest damn smile ever. “Whitley…Reed’s behind us.”

I looked up and out Layton’s back window.

Oh. My. God.
“Where’s the closest rock?” I whispered.

I flew off of Layton and into the passenger seat as he pulled his pants up and started laughing.

“Holy shit! I just had public sex!” I whispered.

He laughed harder. “Baby, he can’t hear you. Why are you whispering?”

I looked over and hit him on the shoulder. “I’m never going to be able to look at Reed again.” I let out a gasp. “What if he tells Courtney?”

Layton put the truck into drive and started driving. He rolled down his window, stuck out his hand, and gave a wave.

“Why in the hell would he tell Courtney?”

I shook my head to clear my thoughts. “Damn you, Courtney, and damn that book! It’s that stupid book’s fault. It turned me into a horny-horn dog!”

Layton looked at me and smiled. “Well, I’d kind of like to think it’s me, babe, that’s turned you into a—what did you call it? A horny-horn dog?”

I looked over at the man that drove me crazy and insane. “Oh, trust me, it’s your damn fault, too!”

I glanced over at Whitley as the blush on her cheeks got deeper by the second.

Good Lord, I’ve never wanted someone so much in my life.

I can’t believe it was my dad who had led her here, led her to me, just when I needed her more than the air I breathe.

As we got closer to the track, I could see her moving around in her seat. I reached over, grabbed her hand, and brought it up to my lips.

“Whit, don’t worry. He probably didn’t even see what we were doing,” I said with a slight smile.

I knew damn well that Reed had seen everything though.

“Do you think?” she asked with the cutest damn look on her face.

I wanted so damn bad for her to finish what she’d started a few minutes ago.

“Yeah. He didn’t see anything. Don’t worry.” I smiled and gave her a wink. “Here we are!” I pulled up and parked behind Lucky’s horse trailer.

“I still can’t believe you have a damn track on your property,” Whitley said.

“It’s not very big, but it gives the horses the practice they need when they’re here.”

I jumped out of the truck and jogged around to open up her door as Reed was pulling up. I glanced over at him, and I could tell by the smile on his face that he knew exactly what we had been up to.

I helped Whitley out and took her hand. We started to make our way over toward Lucky and my new horse.

“Is that the horse you bought in Kentucky?” Whitley walked up to the bay Thoroughbred horse I’d bought just a few days ago. “Oh my gosh, he’s beautiful, Layton! I love bay horses. They’re my favorite. What is he? About sixteen hands? He looks fast as hell.”

Well, I’ll be damned. The girl knows her horses, too. She’s so damn perfect in every way.

I smiled as I glanced over toward Lucky, who was trying to hold back a grin. I knew he instantly loved Whitley.

Beautiful and smart, too.

She was moving her hand up and down each leg and checking out every part of him.

“Sixteen on the dot. And yes, he’s fast as hell.” I walked up and put my hands on my new baby boy.

“What’s his name?” Whitley asked with a smile.

I smiled. “Blazin’ Dreams.”

Whitley turned back and pulled his face down to hers. If I hadn’t known any better, I would say they were both looking into each other’s souls.

“Blaze. I like that name. It fits you.” She moved her hand up and down between his eyes.

My heart swelled up about ten times its normal size, watching her with Blaze.

Christ almighty, this girl is too good to be true. Now, if she ends up knowing her shit about cattle, I’m going to marry her tomorrow.

I hadn’t even noticed Reed walking up.

“You must have a magical touch. I’ve never seen a horse so calm before,” Reed said, smiling at Whitley.

Whitley threw her head up and looked over at Reed, who winked at her. Her cheeks instantly turned red.

She slowly let a smile play across her face. “It’s all in the hands. The more gentle and attentive, the more you get from them.”

Reed’s smile dropped, and I busted out laughing. I walked up, took her into my arms, and turned her to face me.

“Do you want to see what a fifty-thousand-dollar racehorse feels like between your legs?”

Whitley glanced down at the dress she was wearing. Then, she looked at my boots.

“Can I wear your boots?” she asked with a slight smile.

Fuck yeah. I love her more and more.

Whitley ended up riding Blaze all the way back to the stables. Lucky had decided to keep him at my ranch instead of taking him to his place. That was fine by me. Whitley had instantly fallen in love with Blaze, and I wanted to keep that smile on her face for as long as I could.

I pulled up, parked, and jumped out of my truck. I just leaned against it, watching Whitley take care of Blaze. She had the saddle off in no time flat. I watched as she brushed out his coat and then picked up each foot and picked out his hooves. I was getting turned-on more and more from just watching her with the horse. I couldn’t wait to give her the surprise I had gotten her.

She took Blaze by the lead rope and walked him around for a bit before handing him off to Mitch, but not before she had given Blaze a good hug and scratch behind his ears.

“Jesus, dude, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you look at a girl like the way you’re looking at Whitley. And I know for a fact that it has nothing to do with what I drove up on.” Reed punched me lightly on my left arm.

I smiled, but I couldn’t pull my eyes off of her. She had made her way into the stables, and I was guessing she wanted to see the other horses. Once she rounded the corner and was out of my sight, I turned to look at Reed.

Fuck.
I’ve never in my life felt like this, Reed. I mean…” I let out a small laugh and shook my head.

Reed smiled and slapped my back. “Well, damn, it’s about fucking time, dude, about fucking time.”

I knew the grin on my face was goofy as hell. I wanted to shout how much I loved her from the top of the world.

“I love her, Reed.”

He snapped his head and looked at me. “What? Layton, y’all hardly know each other. I mean, I get that you’re probably having mind-blowing sex, which, by the way, is great for you but sucks for me since I can’t even remember the last fucking time I had sex—”

“Reed.”

“Oh, right. But love, Layton? Are you sure?”

I glanced back at the stables and watched as Whitley walked toward us with a huge smile on her face.

“I’ve never been more sure of anything in my entire life.”

“Then, I’m happy for you, Layton. I just want you to be happy.” Reed pushed off my truck and kicked the dirt.

I smiled as she got closer to us.

“Oh my God, you have a beautiful buckskin filly in there that Mitch said was a gift for someone.”

I smiled and nodded. “Surprise.”

Whitley looked at me funny and tilted her head.

This past week, she had told me that she always wanted a buckskin, so she could name it Tinker Bell and give it the barn name of Tink.

“Layton…you didn’t…” She had a shocked look on her face.

I let out a laugh and nodded. “What can I say? Blaze seemed to be in love with that filly. I couldn’t very well part them, now, could I?”

Whitley threw her hands up to her mouth.

“She’s yours, baby.”

Whitley ran, jumped into my arms as she wrapped her legs around me, and kissed the shit out of me. She pulled back and put her lips up to my ear. “I’m not letting you give me a horse as a gift.”

I smiled at her. “I won the bet. I get to do whatever I want.”

She chuckled as I slowly let her slide down my body.

She crinkled her nose up at me and giggled. “Can I name her Tinker Bell?”

I threw my head back and laughed.

Reed said, “Tinker Bell? Holy shit, that poor horse.”

I nodded and pulled her to me again. I leaned down and gently kissed her. “Are you mad at me?” I asked.

She shook her head and gave me a look that just about knocked me down to the ground. “I love you, cowboy,” she whispered.

“I love you too, Whit.” I looked over at Reed. “Pontoon party?” I asked.

Reed smiled. “Ah, hell yeah!”

Whitley started laughing as Reed walked up to her, grabbed her, and spun her around. He put her down, and she looked over at me.

“Hell yes! Turns out CG stands for country girl! Get your party on, Whit. We’re gonna show you how the country folk do it!” Then, Reed yelled over at Mitch, “Mitch! Pontoon party!”

Mitch smiled and gave a thumbs-up.

Whitley started laughing harder, and then she looked at me, confused.

“You in the mood for a party?” I asked her with a wink.

She slowly nodded as she walked up to me. I grabbed her and pulled her up against me.

“What should I wear for this…pontoon party?”

I moved my lips over toward her ear. “I don’t care what you wear…as long as I can get it off of you fast.”

She snapped her eyes up to mine, and the look she was giving me caused my heart to skip a beat. I grinned as she raised her eyebrows up at me.
