“When I bite you, my body will transfer to you a small amount of my DNA. I will also take a small amount of yours. I will link to you and you will link to me. My DNA will allow your body to prepare to carry my child.”

“Will it be different from a normal child?”

“No, maybe a little bigger, but nothing you could not handle.”

“How do you even know if we can have a child together?”

“Nicolas studied every inhabited world we came across to see which would be the most compatible with us. Your world had the highest rating of them all. That is why we settled on earth.”

“Why do you never say the name of your planet or what your people are called?”

“I have heard your people say names have power. They are correct. We are programmed that if we say the native name of our world, the original programming they planted in our DNA tries to come to the surface.”

“They brainwashed you?”

“They didn’t want to lose us. They felt that if we were to be allowed to roam the galaxy, we would become a menace. They didn’t want to have to figure out how to stop their ultimate fighters.”

“But they let you go.”

“Let, may be the wrong word. We went.”

Yum, she really did love the bad ass look on him. Too bad she hadn’t chosen that gazebo after all.

“I take it that the leaving story will wait for another day.”

He nodded. “Have you thought of children?”

She nodded her head. She had a big lump in her throat as she pictured a brown skin girl with vivid green eyes. She blinked fast to keep the tears at bay. She could see having a child with him.

“My bite wouldn’t hurt.”

She looked into his eyes. His animal had come out and she could see the light playing off of his eyes. He licked his lips. She was sure he wanted to bite her.

Chapter Twenty-four

He leaned over and kissed her. His tongue met hers and curved around exploring her mouth. Making her feel special laying on the grass in front of the fountain.

Someone walked by and whistled. Another person called out get a room and then laughed. He pulled back, giving her some breathing space.

“When you kiss me, I forget where I am.”

“That is how it should be.” He gave her a smile that melted her insides.

“Comments like that make me think you’re human.”

Laughing, he smacked her on the ass and copped a feel.

“Yep, totally human.” She laughed. She was enjoying teasing him.

“What did you pack for us to eat?”

“Nothing fancy. Since we slept through breakfast, I went with lunch.” She took out several thick sandwiches and bottles of water. She had noticed that they didn’t drink soda, although occasionally they may drink alcohol.

She watched as he ate. His sharp teeth tearing into the food, his throat moving as he swallowed. Everything he did seemed to fascinate her.

“How will you know when you find the woman you want to mate with?”

She sat on the blanket looking around. The point was actually a point. There was a part that jutted out into the water like the tip of a triangle with two of the three sides being surrounded by water.

On one side there was the Monongahela River and on the other side was the Allegheny River and the two met to form the Ohio River. She absolutely loved it. She had always thought Pittsburgh was special because of it.

Aran stood up and packed the basket, then he reached for her hand. They walked to the fountain where he flicked water at her, causing her to laugh and run away.

She stood with the fountain behind her and the Ohio in front of her, enjoying the beautiful day. He wrapped his arms around her and held her securely carving out their own space among the crowd of visitors.

“I will know, because I will never want to leave her side. I will crave her, her scent, her touch, her. I will want to be the best for her. I will see her with my child long before she carries my seed. She will like the feel of my touch. She will take with pleasure my thrust. She will own my heart.”

“That’s beautiful.”

“Not as beautiful as you are doll. I want to bite you. I want to mate with you and my beast wants you too. We are a package deal.”

“Your beast does not scare me. I know he would protect me with his life. What if you decide to leave the earth?”

“I would go nowhere without you and I wouldn’t go unless you agreed.”

“What if I woke up one day and I no longer wanted to be with you? What would you do to me?”

“I would become what you needed.”

“For me?”

“Yes, doll. For you.”

She turned in his arms and laid her head on his chest. Closing her eyes she allowed the dream of a life with him to live in her heart. He had made one of her dreams come true. She found herself wanting him even more.

She went up on her tiptoes and kissed him. Not a passionate I want to strip you kiss, but a soft, my heart cares for you, kiss. She couldn’t love him yet. It was just too soon. But she could love him, of that she was sure.

“Let’s go home.”

They walked past the fountain again, enjoying the huge spike of water shooting into the air.

They stopped to gather their supplies and headed out of the park. One minute they were walking out laughing, the next his body was covering her as parts of the ground exploded with dirt and grass around her.

People around them screamed and tried to look for cover in the open space.

“Did someone just shoot at us?”

He took her hand and hurried her long. She was running to keep up with his long strides.

“We have to stop and see if anyone needs help. Someone may have been hit.”

“No one was hit.”

“How do you know?”

“I didn’t smell blood.”

He wasted no time getting her to the car.

“What if we are followed?”

“We won’t be. You can’t see it because you’re inside, but we make sure all of our vehicles are equipped with a piece of equipment that allows us to become invisible on the road.”

“Accidents?”

“Don’t worry. There won’t be any.”

“Do you think it’s the same person who threatened me?”

“Yes.”

“What I don’t understand is why he missed.”

“What do you mean?’

“He had a clear shot at us. He had to be on one of the buildings close to a block away. He sighted us perfectly, and had a weapon capable of going the distance. Yet he missed both of us, not even a nick. Why?”

“The last time he called, he said it was my fault that he had to kill me. If only I had gone away like I was supposed to do.”

“Did you find anything more in your investigations?”

“Brad was framed. I am sure of that. Mr. Harris, my boss had some problems when he was younger, but after meeting the woman he would marry he changed. He got his act together. The rest of them all have something to hide, but not anything to alarm me, except for Lars.”

“It’s like he doesn’t exist, he is so clean. That worries me. It feels wrong.”

“Let’s get Hale on him, also. Between the two of you, we will find out what is going on.” She found herself sitting straighter. Pride. She felt pride in the fact that he trusted her.

They walked into the house to find it full.

“How did they all get in?”

“We have access to each other’s homes. It is a safety measure.”

“As well as a brother measure, I bet.”

He smiled at her and nodded his head.

“You’re early.” Aran said to his brothers.

“We finished early and decided to reconvene here. We were about to send out a search party for the two of you. Leaving wasn’t a wise thing to do.” Sergey replied to Aran.

“You’re right. We were shot at today.”

Rena felt all the eyes turn to look at her. She fidgeted as if she had done something wrong.

“Are you ok?” They all asked her one after the other.

“I’m fine. We both are. Whoever fired missed.”

“Missed?” Niko looked puzzled.

Maybe they never missed. Accuracy could be encoded in their DNA.

“Where’s Dee?”

“She said she had something to do tonight and she would call you later.” Niko spat the words out as if they left a bad taste in his mouth.

Rena stared at him. There was definitely something happening between her best friend and Niko. She was going to find out what it was, even if she had to hold Dee hostage. She chuckled silently, Dee would either tell or be forced to sit through the movies she hated. They had devised that torture years ago to encourage each other to talk when things got too bad, or just too big to handle.

They had all wandered into the game room. They took seats on the various love seats. There were more than enough for them all to sit comfortably.

Rena sat on the center one with Aran’s arms around her.

“What do we know?” Aran asked his brothers and Dante.

“We know that someone has been threatening Rena.” Sergey stood and began pacing as he brought them all up to speed. “The threats seemed to begin when the two of you became acquainted, but I am not convinced they had anything to do with Aran in the beginning. I believe the two of you being together has become an added bonus.

We have had trouble with our contracts, and there have been several attacks on both our property and our employees. These began before Rena came into the picture.

The threats have now escalated in both cases and are becoming deadlier. We now have reason to believe one of our kind may be behind what is happening.”

“Hale, would you go with Rena and look into what she has found?” Aran said. “The two of you working together should allow for faster answers.”

Hale nodded and got up, following Rena out the room.

“Nicolas look over Aran and release him to fight.” Sergey addressed him. “We will need everybody we have.”

“Shirt off.” Aran laid on the couch and watched as Nicolas’s eyes changed and his bag appeared at his side.

The exam did not take long. “Your wounds are almost one hundred percent. We heal somewhat slower on this planet. I believe it is due to a lack of certain nutrients. I am already distilling what we need.”

“Can I fight?”

“Yes.” A smile crossed Aran’s face.

“That’s not an ‘I want to fight smile’.” Nicolas laughed at him. “You can do that also.” Nicolas’s smile saddened just for a minute.

Aran clapped his back in silent understanding. All of the brothers understood and would wait, believing it would happen for them.

Chapter Twenty-five

Rena stood in the shower, letting the cares from the day wash away. She and Hale had spent hours working on Lars Colum. He had shown her a sophisticated program he had that would slowly unravel anyone’s life.

When they had been sure he was the one they wanted to investigate, they had loaded every available bit of intelligence they had on him. Now it was a wait and see. Either he was their man or they would have to start over.

Starting over didn’t really feel like an option to her. She was beginning to suspect that someone besides the shooter wanted her dead. Soon, he would do it himself.

Getting out of the shower, she grabbed a towel and headed for the bedroom. She hoped the house was now empty. The brothers had stayed, offering silent support and loud arguments about what should be done next.

Aran was laying on the bed, looking sexy as hell. She only wanted one thing. Dropping the towel, she climbed over him until her body was on top of his. Legs planted on both sides of his torso, she leaned over for a kiss.

The kiss was nice and sweet. She had a destination in mind and didn’t want to waste a lot of time getting there.

She kissed down his throat until she met his chest. She took a little time to work her way down to his nipples. Mmm tasty. He ran his hands down her arms and through her hair as he let her have full reign.

She kissed down his torso, stopping when she felt the hair of his groin rub her chin.

“I want to taste you.” She looked up into his eyes that were flashing from male to animal and back again. “You will like it.”

She gave him a wicked smile before she slid down further, down allowing her mouth to be next to the tip of his cock. She opened her mouth and blew on it before allowing her tongue to dart out and flick over the head.

His body clenched as his breathing hitched. His eyes were glued to her watching as he licked his lips, his hips lifted from the bed.

Yummy. She needed more. She felt her sex clench in need. She wrapped her tongue around the head and went in for a nice long lick. Oh he tasted marvelous. She could become addicted to him. The taste, the smell.

The feelers on his cock caressed her tongue amplifying her pleasure and bombarding her with Aran’s pleasure. His need and desire slammed into her, making her gush between her legs, her own desire flowing.

His hands clenched the sheet as she took him into her mouth, her hands wrapping along the length of him. She worked her head down, taking in as much of him as possible as she worked her hands over his shaft.

She wanted more. She began to move her head up and down, getting as much of his thick shaft in as possible. The tickle of him against the roof of her mouth and her tongue had her letting out her own growl of satisfaction. His hand reached down and found her hair, clutching at her as he tried not to swing his hips up.

She sucked hard as she reached under him to touch his hanging sacs. She was in heaven. Her body was lit up from the inside out. Every time he cried out and called her name, she felt a spasm of pleasure in her sex.

She was doing this. She was making him want to lose control. She was the queen, the one in charge and he knew and accepted it. She felt powerful. She loved him for it.

She almost choked on his cock. Her rhythm was off now. Had she said the love word even to herself? It was impossible to love someone so soon. She knew that. It was a scientific fact, right?

She pulled back and licked him from base to tip allowing her eyes to meet his. She loved him. Forget science. When his body had covered hers the first time, she had known she was never letting him go.

She watched as the male and the beast fought for dominance until finally they compromised. They shared the body, so they could both have the woman. He reached down and pulled her up.
