“See
? That wasn’t so hard to say. ”

What
? ! Sabina waited for him to say something more. When he didn’t, she glared at Shaun and moved farther away from him. Shaun winked at her, stood, and said, “Go shower, and I put out some clothes. I have some in a bag in the bathroom. Once you’re ready, let’s go for a walk along the beach. It’s such a nice day. ”

Biting her tongue
, she nodded and stomped to the bathroom. She turned on the taps and got in the shower.

Men
. He really wasn’t going to say anything after she’d just told him she loved him, that she loved him more every day. Idiot.
She
was an idiot for loving him. Sabina had thought with him wanting to hear her say it, that he would say it back. She’d been excited that maybe he loved her. She stupidly thought that he might want her forever like she wanted him.

Sabina had never felt a connection to any other man
. She’d tried, dated a guy here or there, but nothing ever clicked like it did with Shaun. She loved how he looked after her. He even tried to cook for her. He didn’t expect her to fawn all over him like she’d seen other woman do. She listened to him tell her about his day, and she really enjoyed how he didn’t dumb it down. He listened to her and asked about her work and friends. Shaun seemed to be content to just snuggle sometimes. Sabina had thought he might love her back. But no, he wanted her to shower and go for a walk on the beach. What the hell? Fine. She’d walk along the beach but there would be some talking happening.

****

Shaun tried not to laugh at the fuming woman strolling next to him. He knew she wasn’t happy that he hadn’t said anything when she told him she loved him. They walked onto the sand and he reached for her hand, but she avoided him.

He wondered if he should just do what he wanted to do now or play a little while longer
. He peeked at her and she looked so cute all fired up. So he decided to play. “I have a short week this week. I was thinking of taking an extra day or two off and going camping on the weekend with some of my mates. What do you think?

Shaun bit his tongue as her fist clenched and she snarled
, “Great. I think that’s fantastic. I’ll go out with my friends. ”

“Really
? After what happened last night? ”

This time she did snarl
. “Especially after what happened last night. ” She narrowed her eyes. He shrugged and kept walking. This time he chuckled and she growled, “You’re not going to say anything. ”

“About what
? ”

Sabina stopped
, and if looks could kill, he’d be dead. “Argh. Okay, I don’t expect you to say it back, but at least say something about what I said this morning. ”

Shaun pulled her to him
. She pushed on his chest but he held her tight. “What? Like I love you, Sabina Ross, more than anything in the world? How I want to come home to you every night and sleep with you in my arms? Or I can’t live without you anymore? ” He reached into his pocket and pulled out a ring box. Shaun let go of her, got down on one knee in the sand, and opened the box. “Sabina Ross, I love you and don’t want to live without you for another day. Will you do me the honor of marrying me? ”

Her mouth agape
, she stared with wide eyes down at him. “Do you mean it? ” she whispered.

He glanced around the beach to see a couple of people looking their way
. “I mean every word honey. ”

Slowly she shut her mouth and nodded
. Tears slid down her cheeks and she reached for him to help him up. “Yes. I would love to marry you. ”

Shaun sighed in relief and slipped the white gold diamond ring on her finger
. He lifted her up and kissed her until they were panting for breath. “Thank you. You have made me the happiest man in the world. I love you, Sabina.

She brushed her lips over his
. “I love you, Shaun Griffeth, always and forever. ”
