Now, I know why I love you.  You take such good care of me.” Queen teased.

“
Yeah, whatever.  I got to get a dick in your life, because I'm not having you bounce that big ass around the dick in mine.  We're friends and all but I don't trust a stray cat around my man.”

“
I don't even believe you.  I'd never...”

Jade
quickly interrupts, “And you never will!”

Queen laughs. Her phone rings as the two of them head towards the dressing room. She looks at the display and instantly identifies it as Teddy.

“
Please don't tell me that is who I think it is.”

“
Yeah, I guess he knew we were talking about him.  Hold on, I got to get this.”

“
Don't you fucking dare answer that phone. Make that nigga wait, like he made you wait.”

Queen
ignores Jade's warning and clicks the phone on. “Hey what's up?”

“
So how's my girl doing?”

“
I don't know, wake her ass up and ask her?”

“
Ouch!  Somebody's mad at me.  What's wrong?  Tell Papa Bear all about it.” Teddy teases.

“
You know what?  I'm sorry that wasn't even necessary.  Everything is fine.”

“
Then why all the hostility and sarcasm?”

“
Look I said everything is okay, just forget about it.”

“
Where are you?”

“
I'm at the bridal shop with Jade.  She's picking up her wedding gown.”

“
Oh yeah, tell her congratulations and best wishes.”

“
So, I guess you're not coming to the wedding.”

“
I'm sorry, baby I'm not going to be able to get out of here in time.  But I ordered their wedding gift.  It should be delivered today.  I sent something for you too.”

“
Bear, the only thing I need is some me time with you.  But that seems to be the only thing you can't give me.” Queen complained.

“
Queen, I tried like hell to juggle my schedule to get there for the wedding.  Baby I can't do it without forfeiting a ten million dollar endorsement deal and risking getting sued for everything we have.  Come on cut me a little slack.  I know you're mad.  I know you're frustrated.  And I know that you're horny as hell, but try to talk to me not at me.  You know I miss you as much as you miss me.  Why don't you get on a plane after the wedding and come spend some time with me?”

“
Did you forget that I work for a living?”

“
No, I didn't forget that you work.  But you work because you want to work not because you need to.  I want you here with me.  You left me here.  I didn't leave you.  Come home, Queen.  I don't want to fight.  Hell, you know I'm not going to fight.  So tell me what you want me to do.  Do you want me to come to the wedding?  If so say so.  Fuck the ten million dollars. Hell, I'll move to Baltimore if you want me to. Just stop acting like I don't care about you.” 

There
is dead silence as Queen chokes back tears and clears her throat. “You know what?  I can't do this shit anymore.  No, I don't want you to move to Baltimore.  Hell, I don't even want you to come to the wedding.  I'm going by myself, but I swear, I'm not leaving alone.  And just so we have an understanding I am getting fucked this weekend.”

“
Queen, don't start that shit. Stop playing around.  I told you that I can't do it without losing this contract.  Why are you acting this way?  Look, what time is the wedding?”

“
What difference does it make? You can’t make it anyway.”

“
Just tell me.  I've still got a couple of things I'm trying.”

“
The wedding is at 7:00pm. But do you really think this is about you not being able to escort me to the damn wedding?  I know you're not naive enough to think that everything is okay between us.  Wow, you really don't give a fuck about me.  Do you?” 

Teddy
hears the stress in Queen’s voice and senses that she is crying.  He knew that their relationship had been shaky as hell to say the least, but he had been trying his best to keep Queen happy. Unfortunately, it didn’t seem to be working. Their relationship was unraveling quicker than a cheap, secondhand sweater.

His
voice begins to crack as he begged, “Don’t cry Queen.  You know that shit ain't true.  I love you.  I know I'm a fuck up.  I know I hurt you.  But don't say that I don't care.  Shit ain't right here without you.  Look, I'll be at the wedding.  This shit's not worth losing you.”

Queen
attempts to suppress her tears and does not respond. She couldn’t because she didn’t know what to say. She wanted out, but she didn’t know how to take the first step to leave. She loved him, but she didn’t want to live like this anymore. Still she couldn’t fathom life without him. Ripped apart by the emotions that she had bravely tried to hide for so long she said not a word.

“
Queen, are you still there?  Baby, say something…  Queen!”

“
Please don't come.  You're just going to make what I have to do harder on both of us.”

“
Don't play Queen.  I swear to God, don't even play like you're going to fuck somebody else.  I will fuck somebody up if I find out they slept with you.”

“
Oh don't worry, ain't nobody getting any sleep.  I got three months of shit to get off and ain't nobody getting any damn sleep tonight until I do.” 

Teddy
is silent.  His voice wavers when it finally allows him to speak. “Queen don't do this to us.  I said I was sorry.  Two wrongs will never make shit right.  I'll be at the wedding and we'll work everything out.  Okay?”

Queen
ignores him as she watches the bridal attendant wrap up Jade's wedding gown. She knew that seeing Jade in that dress triggered memories of her wedding that should have, would have, could have been, but wasn’t. Why? Because she couldn't stop fucking around with Bear and look where that’s gotten her. Alone, horny and as mad as a bitch that’s where it got her. Nonetheless, she knew that this was not the time or the place to address this issue.  

“
Please answer me Queen.  Don't leave me hanging on like this.” 

Finally,
she wipes her eyes and clears her throat. “Look, just forget about it.  I'm okay.  We got some serious issues to address, but this is not the time, nor the place. We'll talk.”

“
Queen, you know that I'll come if you want me to. Just say the word.”

“
No I'm good.  Do what you got to do.  I'm just a little emotional because my girl is getting married.”

“
Queen, I promise, I'm going to do better with coming to see you.  I'm not trying to put money before you, but I got to make these moves while I'm still on fire.  You understand don't you? Hell if I could move to Baltimore with you I'd do that too. You know that right?”

“
Yeah.  Look I got to go.  I have a hair appointment and a bikini wax.”

“
Intrigued, Teddy clears his throat and jokes, “You know I love a clean work space so you might want to delay the wax.  I'll be flying in next Friday and Papa Bear plans to tear Mama Bear's ass up.”

“
Yeah, right.  I'll have the waxer shape it like an arrow so you can find your way.  I realize it's been a while.”  They both laughed.

“
It ain't been that damn long.  Keep talking shit you might see my ass tonight.”

“
I'll be impressed to see you next week, let alone tonight.  Look I better go.  I love you.”

“
Do you?”

“
You know I do.”

“
I don’t know… So, is Logic coming to the wedding?”

“
What? No! I told you he wasn’t coming weeks ago. What, you didn’t believe me?”

“
I just thought maybe things had changed. I mean the way you were talking and shit…”

“
Bear, Logic’s not coming and even if he was that’s over. Okay? I love you. Alright?”

“
I love you too Queen.  What time are you getting home?”

“
Probably around six.  Why?”

“
I got a surprise for you.  Call me when you get it.”

“
What is it?”

“
They call it a surprise I think.” Teddy laughed.

“
Smart ass!” Queen retaliated.

“
I love you Mye Queen.”

“
I love you too my King.”  Queen hangs up the phone and sighs.

Queen
was unusually quiet as they drove to the hair salon. Jade could see the tension in her face and instantly knew that something devious was being hatched in her friend’s mind. Jade knew all too well the fragile nature of the situation. On the one hand she wanted Queen to get some get back for all of Teddy’s not so discrete indiscretions. Still on the other hand she knew that Queen was coo- coo for Coca Puffs over that charismatic nigga. And she knew that Queen would be devastated if she did something that jeopardized their relationship and caused her to lose him. 

“
That nigga just smooth talked you out of it, didn't he?”

“
Hell no!  Somebody is getting crowned King for a day.”

“
Well, Chris has been waiting an awfully long time for a chance to please the Queen.” Jade joked.

“
Yeah, I know, too bad he's not on the menu.  I don't even want him to know a thing about this. It would destroy him.”

“
Why isn’t he on the menu?”

“
This is a one night only, no promises, no encores and no regrets thing.  My relationship with Chris is too delicate for that. He wants the whole pie and tonight I strictly serving hoe cakes.  He deserves so much more than I'm prepared to give tonight.”

“
Look I know that you're out for some get back.  But, just try not to hurt anybody in the process.”

“
I'm not going to hurt nobody but Bear.  You should have heard him when I told him that I was going to sleep with somebody else.”

“
Please don't tell me you told him that.  Queen, what if he shows up?  I bet he's coming tonight if he has to walk from Los Angeles.”

“
Oh fucking well!  Pay backs a bitch and tonight her name is Queen.”

“
Yeah, just the same I think we should abort the mission, just in case.”

“
Abort the mission my ass!  Hell with that shit!  I'm fired up now and my hormones are all fucked up, so I'm getting some dick tonight whether he comes or not. He might not come, but I’m coming tonight. You can count on that shit.”

“
Hormones or not, don't fuck up my wedding gift, from Mr. Big Bucks.”

“
Don’t worry, he said your gift will be here today. Besides, that doesn’t have anything to do with what happens between me and Bear. You know him better than that.”

“
Did he say what it was?”

“
As a matter of fact he did. He said it was what they call it?  Oh yeah, he said it was a surprise!”

“
Very funny Slappy Nappy. Let’s get you to Lady Di so she can work a miracle on this mop you call hair.  I can't believe this shit.  It's the day before my wedding and I got to turn your rag muffin ass into Cinderella.  Oh but it is going to be so worth it to see Teddy's face when he finds out that you let somebody else scratch his cat.”

“
I don't know about all of that.  Bear is going to lose his damn mind if he finds out.”

“
So, you're not going to tell him?”

“
Hell to the no!  Why would I?  I already told him that it was going to happen.  I don't have to give him a blow by blow.  This is strictly a - don't ask, don't tell mission. And Bear don’t need to know a damn thing about it.”

“
Say whatever you want, but Teddy Davine's got class, flash and a whole lot of surplus, damn cash.  Look at you riding around in a brand new, custom Mercedes Benz.”

“
That he does and he's slings a big old dick too.  Now, tell me how the hell am I supposed to replace a man like that.”

“
Nobody said that you had to replace him.  You just have to spank his ass and make him behave.  Don't fuck this up for me.  I'm going to need a friend that's a Millionaire.”

“
What are you talking about?” Queen asked a little puzzled.

“
The multimillion dollar alimony and child support settlement you'll get once you divorce Teddy.”

“
Whatever! , I'm already a millionaire.”

“
What? How much do you have?”

Queen
hesitantly holds up five fingers.

“
Bitch, where the hell did you get five million dollars? And why is this the first time I’m hearing about it?”

“
Bear gave it to me.  Just in case something happens to him.”

“
What the fuck? Oh my Lord!  Trick, have you lost your damn mind cheating on this man?  Abort the mission.  I say again abort the damn mission!”

“
Bitch, you're the reason there even is a mission.  I can't do that.  I love Bear but I can't let him think he can fuck over me at will because he has money.  Fuck that!  I want him and I want him behaved, so I gotta tax that ass.”

“
I know what I said but in retrospect, girl it ain't worth it.  You need to just take your ass home, go in your room, lock the door and fly a few more solo flights or some shit.  Girl, just give him to Jesus or something.  Jesus can straighten him out.  But whatever you do don't fuck this up.  Why didn't you tell me Teddy was taking care of business like this?”

“
Uhhh.. Because, it really ain't any of your damn business.  Matter fact this shit doesn't leave this car.  So keep your yak shut.  You know that he's good to me.  He just got all fucked up in the head when Paul was killed. We both did.  It's almost like he can't feel anything unless he's fucking, or playing football.” 

Jade
turns serious for a second. “Ask him to go into counseling with you.  God knows both of you have more issues than Time Magazine.”

“
Things have never been this bad, Jade.  He just keeps buying shit for me like that makes his bullshit okay. That's how I got this new car. And don't get me started on the jewelry. I keep most of it a safe deposit box at the bank. I'm too damn afraid to even try to wear it.” 

Unexpectedly
they are interrupted by the ring of Jade's cell phone. Jade looks at the display and realizes that it is Dorian. “Hold on it's my Pooh Bear.  ‘Hey, what are you up to today? Do you miss me?’” She asks unaware that Dorian was screaming hysterically. “Dorian what’s wrong?  Baby, you gotta calm down and tell me what's going on.”

Queen
can hear the muffled sounds of Dorian screaming. “Is everything okay?”

“
Hell if I know, I can't understand a word he's saying except, "Oh my God, I can't believe this shit.”

Queen,
quickly pulls the car over and parks. “Let me talk to him.” 

Jade
gives her the phone.”Here maybe he’ll tell you what’s going on.”

“
Dorian, it’s Queen. What's wrong?”

“
Queen?  Oh my God you won't believe what happened,” he screamed.

“
Dorian try to calm down and tell us what's going on.  Jade is freaking out here.”

“
I’m trying… Check this out… This man came to the door and asked if I was Dorian Swan.”

“
Hold on let me put you on speaker phone so that Jade can hear.” Queen maneuvers through the phone's menu until Dorian could be heard on the speaker phone. 

Jade
grips the seat for dear life in anticipation. “Baby is everything okay?”

“
Yeah,
yeah, yeah. I'm great.”

“
Okay go ahead Dorian.”

“
Okay, so this man came to the door and asked if I was Dorian Swan.  I said yes.  Then he said ‘I am Jim Stein the General Manager of Charles Town Cadillacs and I have a Cadillac Escalade for Dorian and Jade Swan.’  I said there must be some kind of mistake because we didn't order an Escalade.  But he said, ‘There’s no mistake. The truck is a wedding gift from Teddy Bear Davine.’  So, I said we can't afford this.  He said, ‘Mr.  Davine has already paid for the truck, title, tags, and first year insurance.  Here are your keys, the registration is in the glove box and there is your new truck. Congratulations.’  Baby you got to see it.  Oh my God!  Oh my God! I can’t believe it!”

The
three of them begin to scream in unison.  Jade started beating the dash board and screaming and crying.  Queen sat back in total disbelief.  Overwhelmed with gratitude, she pulls out her cell and dials Teddy.  The phone rings and Teddy answers.

“
Yes, Mye Queen.”

“
You are so damn sweet.  Thank you so much for doing that for them.”

“
Oh, you must be talking about our wedding gift.  How do they like it?” 

Dorian
and Jade could be heard celebrating in the background. “Can't you hear them screaming and crying.  Dorian's on the cell and Jade's here with me in the car.  I called so that they could thank you, but I'm not sure if they can talk right now.”

“
That’s okay. Tell them that they are more than welcome.  I wish I could be there with you Queen to celebrate with them.  You know that, right?”

“
Yeah, I do.  Thanks baby.  You made this day very special for them.”

“
Hey tell Dorian to look in the armrest of the Caddy.  There should be another surprise in there for them.”

“
Hold on I'm going to put you on speaker phone.” Queen puts the phone on speaker and holds it up for Jade to hear.

“
Okay go ahead, Bear.”

“
Hey, Dorian, can you hear me?”

“
Dorian, hang up and I'll call you back on three way.”  Dorian clicks off and Queen’s manipulates her phone to get Teddy and Dorian on the same call.  Jade is doe eyed and literally in a state of shock. “Okay, go ahead Bear.

“
Hey man, what's up.  So you like the Kitty Katty or what?”

“
Oh my God!  Thank you, so much man.  From the bottom of my heart, thank you.  I'm overwhelmed.  Man this is way too much.  I don't know if we can accept it.”

“
You can and you will. Congratulations, you two deserve to be happy. So, look in the armrest, I have one more surprise for you. I had to pull a lot of stings to get them to put that wedding card inside.”

“
What wedding card.  I didn't see a card.  Well, actually I didn't look.”

“
Teddy, thank you so much.  I know I've been a bitch to you sometimes, well pretty much all the time, but I got to protect my girl.  You know we love you.  Thank you so much..” Jade interjected.

“
Don't worry about it.  I love you guys too. Dorian, get the card out of the armrest and open it.”

“
Okay, wait a minute.  Hang tight while I open it.  No fucking way.  Oh my God, Jade.  There's a cashier’s check for twenty five thousand dollars.”

“
Have fun on your honeymoon.”

“
Oh my God!  Teddy, what the hell?  You got to be shitting me.  Thank you, Jesus!  Thank you Jesus!” Jade exclaimed in glee. The two begin to scream in celebration all over again.

“
Man, your generosity is overwhelming.  I know we always been boys and shit, but there is no way that we were expecting something remotely like this.  Hey, if you ever need anything.  Don't hesitate to call.”

“
Just look out for my girl for me.  Queen needs good friends like you two around.  I just wanted to show you how much we appreciate your friendship.  So enjoy.  Hey Queen, let me holla at you.”

“
Okay, let me take you off speaker.  Hey, Dorian, I'm going to hang up and Jade will call you from her phone.”

“
Yeah, okay no problem.” 

Queen
fumbles with the phone as she gets out of the car, so that she could have some privacy. “Okay Bear.  What's up?”

“
I know you thought that the wedding wasn't important to me.  My schedule was just too screwed up and shit.  I really wanted to be there.  I love you and I miss the hell out of you.  You know that, right?”

“
I already told you it’s okay.  Don't keep beating yourself up over it.”

“
I know but… Have you been home yet?”

“
No, why?  Do I have an Escalade with a check in the arm rest waiting for me?” Queen joked.

“
No.  Why?  Do you want an Escalade?”

“
Hell, yeah! Well, if it's on the menu.  That Escalade XLT pickup truck would look good on me.” Queen laughed.

“
Well, maybe if you play nice this weekend we'll pick one up when I get there.”

“
Okay, so who do you want me to play with?”  Queen joked as Jade knocked on the car window and pointed at her watch indicating that they were going to be late. 

“
Keep being funny.  Be good this weekend or Papa Bear might have to spank you.”

“
I don't know, Mama Bear might like that shit.  Hey, I gotta go before I miss my hair appointment. I'll call you when I get home.” Queen explained as she got back in the car.
