EPILOGUE

Sal and I eloped. We hopped aboard Nick’s private plane to Europe where we went to Italy, visited the Vatican, toured Rome, floated in Venice and saw Pompeii.

We spent a week in France and a long weekend in Monaco. We ate fabulous food, stayed in beautiful suites, and saw as many historical sites and museums as possible.

While in England, we toured London and took pictures at Stonehenge, then visited many castles.

No one was at all mad that we slipped away like thieves in the night. Well, maybe Toby–but he was happy staying with Pop. They knew we were together and happy and that’s really all that mattered. We were gone for two months. We called everyone weekly just to check in.

By the time we got home, I was going on six months in my pregnancy and my belly was a nice little bump protruding out under all my shirts. Sal told me it was the sexiest thing he’d ever seen, but Celine and I had a blast buying me maternity clothes.

I also noticed since the coma, I wasn’t plagued with dreams. Or fear. For whatever reason, they just ceased. Sal and I saw Dr. Brooks a few more times and talked to him about it. We all agreed they had stopped because Sal and I, after centuries, had gotten to our destiny and were finally joined as one.

In those months, Sal’s brother Joe, who was enjoying fatherhood, had called a few times and talked to Sal about helping on the winery expansion project. Sal would be a shareholder in the business and he liked that idea.

Sal and I discussed the offer and agreed we were ready to live in Napa Valley. Soon, plans were put to paper. Pop was excited to live in the cottage on Joe and Mary’s property and construction on our house just up the road from them was starting. We were excited and ready to start our new life in Napa. Pop was delighted to know he’d be getting to know his two grandchildren, too.

I couldn’t believe what a difference a year could make. I’d come full circle. I had been alone with no love and no family–now, I was married to someone who adored me, a baby was on the way, and I’d inherited a wonderful family that was going to live and grow with each other.

Some days I’d wake up and ask Sal if it was all a dream, was this all real? Would I wake and be alone again?

He’d just smile and give me kisses, rub my belly, and over and over reassure me I was not dreaming.

On September 21
st
at approximately 2am, I gave birth to a beautiful 6lb. 9oz. baby girl.

Sal coached me and held my hand. He cut the cord and was the first to hold her.

When he finally brought her to me, he placed her gingerly in my arms and kissed the top of her head where sprigs of dark curls poked out from under her little pink cap.

He leaned over and brushed his lips lightly over mine and told me he loved me.

A nurse standing nearby asked us what we were going to name her. I glanced at Sal and he nodded.

“Sophia,” I smiled. “Her name is Sophia.”

Robin H. Soprano was born and raised in Essex county New Jersey. She now lives in Flagler County Florida with her husband. An animal lover, she writes or reads with her loyal dog always at her feet or by her side.

After many years as hairstylist she needed a life change.

On a restless night a few years back she woke and could not get back to sleep. A tiny voice in her head said; “write a book.” She thought she was going crazy. But her love for story telling and reading was too big to ignore. 

She started to write, and with the advice of a friend found a class in her community. How to Write a Book in Thirty Days. She was very surprised to see she was on the right track and the inspiration from Michael Ray King’s program was just the push and direction she needed to keep going.

She has other projects in the works and looks forward to producing many more books to share.
