Three Years Later

I’m sitting out in my backyard in the beautiful summer sun. I’m reading my latest book on my Kindle and enjoying the gorgeous weather. I hear a high-pitched squeal and I look over to Ella, my beautiful baby girl running away from her daddy who’s pretending to be a monster. Ella is two, and Joshua and I were overjoyed when I was pregnant again. He fussed over me all the time and took great care of me. Joshua sold my apartment and his and bought us a place in Harrow near my Aunt Sylvia. It’s a three bedroom house with a backyard and a front yard and I absolutely love it.

Aunt Sylvia loves us being so close and I couldn’t be happier. Joshua takes a lot more time off from Lynn Publishing, but Madison is proving to be an asset and runs the business quite well while Joshua works from home. Sienna’s is going really well too. Joshua offered me the position of Manager there and I was there for a year before Ella came along. Now I’m a stay at home mummy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m never bored with little Ella. She is truly precious.

After everything that happened three years ago, I can’t believe we have got to this point. Derek was sent to prison and is doing time. He will be away for a very long time. The police found Tammy’s body at an unknown apartment. She had committed suicide and left a note saying that life wasn’t for her anymore. I couldn’t get my head around it when I found out, but I had Joshua to lean on and we both got through it together. Joshua’s mother was apologetic when she heard what had happened. She cried a lot and I forgave her. I didn’t want to be the bitch that couldn’t forgive.

Danielle has graduated from Oxford University and is painting and exhibiting her work in many art museums. Tracy is doing amazingly in Los Angeles. Some of her designs have been used in high-end fashion shows and she is seeing someone she says is
‘the one.’
I sure hope so.

Karl is in and out whenever he likes. He turns up unexpectedly from time to time, but it’s good for Joshua because before he never saw him much with all the work he was doing. It’s great that Joshua has more time to enjoy life.

I smile at seeing Joshua throwing Ella in the air. She’s giggling uncontrollably. I get up and run over to them before they see me and I wrap my arms around them both.

“Good God woman, you scared me.” He grins and gives me a peck on the lips.

“How’s my little girl?” I tickle her tiny belly and nuzzle her cheek.

“I think she’s getting a bit tired. I will go and put her down for a nap.” He turns toward the house and makes it up the steps to the porch before turning around.

He smiles and shouts out, “Love you Mrs. Lynn.” He smirks and walks inside our house. I never get bored at hearing that. Yes, we got married a couple of years ago and it was the best day of my life, apart from having Ella.

Tracy managed to come back from Los Angeles to be my Maid of Honour and Karl was Joshua’s Best Man. I had Danielle as my bridesmaid too. I thought there was a spark of attraction between Tracy and Karl. They disappeared for ages at our reception, but nothing seemed to come of it. Now I can’t get her to talk about it. Very weird.

Mine and Joshua’s love has been a complicated one and at times I never imagined I would be this happy. I love him so much, and I’m glad it’s him and me against the world.

He’s my life, my world and I wouldn’t change a thing.

He is mine!

D.M. Midgley lives in England, UK and is married with two children. At the moment, she is a stay at home mum whilst her son is still at nursery.

She has been a blogger for about a year and a half and used to admin for ‘Magic Within The Pages’ but in January 2015 she decided to go it alone and set up her own page called ‘Late Night Books and Reviews.’ She loves helping out authors and is really enjoying promoting them on her page. She also Beta reads for a couple of authors and is always happy doing their reviews.

She loves reading and remembers the first book she read on her Kindle was ‘Little Women’ and as a kid she loved reading Disney stories, her favourite was ‘Peter Pan.’

The idea for her debut novel, ‘A Complicated Love’ came about rather abruptly one night in a dream. She wasn't sure whether she could get it down on paper; however with much-needed support by her author friends she has gained motivation and confidence to write her novel. This has greatly helped her inspiration and self-belief to grow.

You can follow her on facebook and keep up to date with the latest information about her future projects.
