“It’s a good thing you guys found out which way we are going, but now we need to get out of here, because there is a group of zombies coming this way.” Edmund said while grabbing Hana-yon’s hand.
I got up off the ground, and grabbed Paige’s hand. “Let’s go” I said. We all started running. Eventualy I let go of
Paige’s hand. I ran faster, like a track star. I kept on running and running.
BOOM!
I ran into a car, making a loud noise. I rubbed my head and then looked around. I saw zombies heading towards me. Then I remembered, I still had my staff in my hand. My head still hurt but, I got ready to fight.
Edmund slid down, and landed on his back.
This guy could do a lot of stuff with a messed up knee. I guess it was the adrenaline. I clicked the button on the staff.
It almost hit Edmund in the face. Hmph, oh well, after the way he treated me. I looked up from the ground, and I saw a figure fighting the zombies, along with another. Even though the street lights we’re on, I still didn’t see the faces, I just saw the bodies. One was fighting in the style that Aoi used. It must be Aoi! I ran toward the figure. When the person saw me they flung the staff in my direction.
I thought fast and ducked. When I stood up completely, I saw the person’s face.
The face was similar to Aoi’s,with the
same features, and everything.
“Kaelor?”she asked.
“Aoi!” I replied.
She gave me a two second hug. “Sorry, can’t talk. I gotta beat these zombies!” Aoi said, as she let her staff out and hit one that was behind me.
I shuddered and then quickly sprang into action. I had multiple thoughts running through my head. I kept wondering if I would make it out alive, or if someone would save us?
I was distracted by my thoughts, and eventually stopped swinging my staff. I caught myself drifting off in thought until a hand landed on me. I made a frightened shriek, and closed my eyes because I just knew it was a zombie. Then the zombie’s hand was off my shoulder. I really, really, don’t know what exactly happened, but all I know, is that Paige ended up in front of me.
“Now, what would you do without me?” she asked.
“Probably be walking corpse” I replied.
She nodded and then turned around to start fighting again. All I know is, I’m sick and tired of facing these stupid zombies. So I’m just gonna find somewhere to hide and sit out. I ran towards a car that was on the other side of the road.
“Hey! What do you think your doing?”
I heard someone ask. I still kept running, but I turned my head to get glimpse. It was Aoi. She was always on my case whenever, I ran away from something.
I kissed my teeth and kept running.
I stopped as I put my hands on the car.
I was breathing heavy. I slid my hands over the car. This car was expensive and popular. Everyone wanted it. “This is the car that unlock’s on demand. Maybe I could? No Obviously this isn’t going to work. I don’t know what the owners voice sounds like” I mumbled to myself. I slid my hands across the car, as I slowly tried to hide behind it.
I squatted low behind the car. I put my head up so that I could see what was going on. I smirked. I’ve got a better plan.
I hit the staff against the car and it made a loud bang.
Now all the zombies we’re headed towards me.
I quickly turned around and ran. I was running toward the building right behind me. I observed the place as I ran and quickly spotted a pole. I turned to the pole and held the staff out. My plan was to hit the pole and attract the zombies. As I passed the pole, I stuck my arm out so that the staff hit it. I stopped running, and turned around.
I saw more of them coming my way so I started running again. This time, I ran toward the road. I jumped off the side walk yelling, “Follow me guys!” as I kept running. I almost tripped on a pole. Since I slowed down, I picked it up and threw it toward the car down the road. I started running again not sure of exactly who was following me, but I didn’t care at this moment. All that mattered to me, was getting away from that area.
Looking ahead, the street was blocked off by a group of zombies coming down the
road. Then, I heard the sound of a truck. I saw headlights. Who is that? I wondered.
Then, the truck ran over the zombies, and kept on driving down the road. They must be headed to the highway.
I turned my head and saw some heads in the back of that truck as it drove away. “What in the world?” I mumbled to myself. Then I saw the zombies still coming this way. I quickly turned around. I was going to follow that truck. I passed Aoi a
nd Paige, who we’re behind me. They turned around and kept running too.
My legs were getting tired so, I slowed down a bit and jogged. I passed everyone else and they quickly turned around too. I sighed.
Chapter 5: Um, Hello?
After a while of running, I stopped right behind the stopped truck and began breathing hard as I moved slowly towards the driver’s side door while shivering. I pushed my body too hard. I only get this shaky feeling when I push my body too hard.
I began to laugh, lightly, for no particular reason. I felt a hand grab my shoulder. I shivered, and my laughing slowly faded to a faint cry. I turned my head. It was Aoi. I pressed my hand against my heart. I started giving off sighs of relief. I started laughing lightly again.
“Whats so funny?” Paige whispered.
I gestured my hand into the air to signal her not to care. Then, a hand hit me in the back of the head.
“Kaelor” Kaelinda quietly screamed. I quickly straightened myself off the car and stood up infront of everybody. I knocked on the car door.
I saw all of the moving bodies in the car freeze. I saw a few mouths move. A few moments later, I saw a very handsome boy look out of the window.
He said something that I couldn’t hear, then a girl moved next to him and opened the door.
A caramel skinned girl with black hair, and a little bit of brown highlights streaming from the roots of her head, to the
split ends of her hair opened the door. I think I’ve seen her before.
I had a best friend who looked somewhat the same as her. Plus, she also looked like the girl at the school gate.
We stared at each other for a split second, until I broke the silence and said “Finally, we had been waiting for someone to open the door.
“Hi my name is Kaelor. I turned around and pointed to Paige and everyone else behind me as I introduced them saying,
“This is Paige, Kaelinda, Edmund, Aoi, and Hana-yon. You can just call us the beat yo’ butt up crew.”
She laughed and said “beat yo’ butt up crew? That name is hilarious!”
I made a face at her, so did everyone else.
She replied, “Sorry, I just really needed that laugh.”
Paige looked at the girl and said “You must go to our school. I can tell by the clothes you’re wearing.
It has been one day since chaos has started, and you still have not
change your clothes. Correction, all of you haven’t changed your clothes. Shameful.” Paige said.
“Hey we can’t help it if we don’t have any clothes to change into… or do we? Plus, you didn’t either” the girl said.
Some girl interrupted and said “Actually, we do have clothes but we just haven’t changed yet.”
I interrupted and said “Can
we get in please; I’m getting eaten up by mosquitos.”
They moved to let us in.
We all piled in but, we had to wait a while for the person driving to wake up.
***
We drove for a while. I sat there, looking up. I happened to hear some of the stuff they were talking about, but I paid it no mind. Then the truck stopped. The truck had a cover that goes over the bed.
That’s where I ended up sitting, with a portion of the group that was already in there. The driver got out the truck and turned it off.
I realized we were at a gas station. I sighed. The driver got back in to the cab of the truck and twisted the key in the ignition. The truck made a sound like it was going to start but it didn’t. The driver turned the key again and the truck did the same thing, every time she turned the key.
I kissed my teeth and hopped out the truck. I was accompanied by my friends.
“Where are you going Kae?” Hana-yon asked.
“
I’M LEAVING!
” I yelled at the top of my lungs. The words I said echoed through the station. For some odd reason I was in a very sour mood. Hana-yon looked at me hurt.
“
OK THEN, KAE! I SEE HOW IT IS!
” Hana-yon yelled as she ran away. I followed her, our footsteps echoing through the place.
“Kae, I’m coming with you!” Aoi yelled from behind.
Every noise we made just echoed through the station.
Hana-yon ran out
of the lighted area. I still followed. “Hana, I’m sorry” I yelled to her. I heard a moan. I mumbled under my breath. We attracted attention, man! I left my staff in the truck! I kept running, after Hana-yon. I hope there was nothing too painful in store for me……...
Whatever happens next is probably something we BOTH won’t expect.
