Chapter 27

Ethan

Ethan: Hey Red, party tonight?

Red: I have so much work to do for school

              Ethan: :(

Red: How about if I meet you there after I get my work done?

              Ethan: *sigh* fine

Red: try to stay out of trouble until I get there ;)

Ethan: you’re the only trouble I’m interested in these days Red

The party at Asher’s place is absolutely packed. He invited me at work today and while I’d been tempted to politely decline he pulled the ‘we never see you anymore’ routine and I was guilted into agreeing to come.

“Hey, I noticed you didn’t have a drink,” Sarah approaches me, a cup of beer in her outstretched hand.

I’m surprised to see her here, but I guess I shouldn’t be, it seems like half of the student population is here. It’s kind of cute how much she idolizes Abby, even dying her hair.

“Oh, thanks,” I take the beer and take a gulp, looking around hoping for Abby to appear.

“I think it’s so great of you to volunteer to let us girls beat you up,” Sarah says, looking up at me like a puppy, desperate for a pat on the head.

“Well it’s for a good cause. Plus, Abby kind of kicked my ass until I didn’t have a choice,” I admit with a laugh. I take another large gulp of my beer, and Sarah continues to watch me.

“Abby is so beautiful,” She says with a faraway look in her eyes.

“I couldn’t agree more,” I nod and down the rest of the cup, glancing around for an escape from this awkward exchange.

Without warning the room starts to get fuzzy, and seems to tilt back and forth.

“Whoa,” I murmur.

What the hell? All I’d had was one beer. I take a step and nearly fall over, the ground seemingly unstable beneath my feet.

“Here, let me help you go lay down,” Sarah offers, reaching out to steady me.

I try to ask what the hell is wrong with me but I can’t seem to get the words out as the room continues to tilt and blur around me.

Somehow a soft bed appears beneath me and I collapse onto it. My eyelids feel so heavy. I close my eyes, just for a minute.

“Come here, baby,” I hear a feminine voice in the dark.

Why is it so dark? Where am I?

“Abby?” slur in confusion as I feel someone fumbling with my pants in the dark.

              “Yeah baby.”

There’s something wrong with Abby’s voice but I’m too tired to figure out what it is. She reaches into my pants and strokes me roughly. Why does Abby seem so wrong? Then I feel her hot mouth engulf me and I close my eyes, savoring the feeling.

“Abby,” I moan loudly. Just before it can get good the bedroom door opens and light floods the room.

              “Oh my god, sorry.”

I hear a familiar voice gasp in surprise.

“Holy fuck, Ethan? Jesus Christ.”

My eyes snap open and I see Abby standing in the doorway. My brows furrow in confusion. How can she be standing in the doorway and sucking my dick at the same time? I look down and see a blurry woman with red hair sucking my dick.

I look back at Abby in the doorway. And, although still confused, I shove Abby off.

              “Abby?” I slur in confusion.

“Sarah?” Abby practically shrieks as her eyes fall on the chick I just pulled off of me. Sarah?

“Abby, wait,” I zip my pants up and stumble off the bed, trying to go to her.

“Shit, you’re wasted,” She glares at me, clearly trying to decide what to do. “Do you want me to take you home?”

I nod helplessly. I wish this fucking room would just stop spinning.

Abby

I feel sick to my stomach as I keep picturing Ethan with Sarah sucking him off. Ethan was absolutely blitzed out of his mind. He’d passed out as soon as I got him to the car after mumbling over and over again that he didn’t mean to. I’d kept my mouth shut, not seeing the point in arguing with someone who was so drunk he could barely walk straight. I’m not even sure if I have the right to be mad at him. I’d repeatedly told him that we aren’t a couple. I’d even insisted that he should see other people if he wanted to. So why do I feel so disgusted and betrayed? I can’t stop wondering how many other girls he’s hooked up with since we started fooling around.

As soon as we pull up to the apartment building I look over at him, passed out in the passenger seat. I can’t even figure out how he had time to get that wasted, he’d only been at the party alone for forty-five minutes. The question now is how am I going to get him in the house? I certainly can’t carry him by myself. Maybe I should let him just sleep in my car.

I try to shake him awake and he doesn’t budge. Nervous I check his breathing. He seems to be fine. Just passed the fuck out. I pull out my phone and call Lee to come out and help me.

Between the two of us we manage to get Ethan onto our couch.

“Night horn dog,” I mutter under my breath before making my way to bed.

I roll over and reach for Ethan in my half asleep state and am surprised to find his side of the bed empty. Then the events of the night come rushing back to me and I flinch. I open my eyes in confusion and squint into the darkness to check the time. It’s three a.m., I only managed to fall asleep about an hour ago. I hear a retching sound so I pull myself out of bed and go to check on him. With how wasted he was it doesn’t surprise me that he’s puking. Now I’m certainly glad I didn’t leave him in the car.

I find the bathroom door closed, but I can see the light seeping through the bottom of the door.

“Ethan?” I ask through the door. I’m answered with another loud retching sound. I grimace and try the handle. It’s unlocked so I push the door open and find Ethan hunched over the toilet.

“I’m fine Red, you don’t need to see this,” He says waving me off before gagging into the toilet again.

“Oh hush, I’m going to be a doctor you dork this stuff doesn’t bother me,” I argue grabbing a washcloth from the rack over the toilet and getting it damp. I crouch down next to him and press the cool washcloth to his forehead.

“So how drunk were you Casanova?” He shakes his head and spits into the toilet.

“I only had one drink. I only remember one drink anyway. Then, I woke up here on the couch. Did you have to drag my ass home?” He asks in confusion.

He had to have drank more than he realized.

“You don’t remember anything?” I ask skeptically.

He shakes his head and retches again.

“Do you want me to help you back to bed or do you want to stay here?” I ask.

              “Here for now.”

“Okay, hang tight,” I leave him with the washcloth and go to gather a glass of water and two pillows from his bed. When I get back to the bathroom I hand him the water and a pillow.

“What’s the other pillow for?” He asks.

“For me,” that was a dumb question. I prop the pillow up against the wall and sit back. I look at him and picture the scene I walked in on earlier and wince.

“What’s wrong Red?” Ethan asks, noticing my reaction. I can’t even meet his gaze. “Did I do something stupid?”

I let out a humorless laugh.

“I don’t know, would you consider getting head from a girl you hardly know stupid?” I ask dryly.

His head whips up and he looks horrified.

“Please tell me that’s a fucking joke?” His voice is low and shaky.

“When I got to the party I found you totally wasted, getting sucked off by Sarah from my self-defense class.”

“No,” Ethan shakes his head violently and retches into the toilet again. “No fucking way.”

“We can talk about this later,” I suggest.

No need to get into this fucked up conversation while he pukes his guts out. I still haven’t decided whether I’m going to be able to get past this or not. After all, I have no right to be mad. But I feel so fucking betrayed and sick every time I think about it.

“No, we’re going to talk about it now,” Ethan insists, sitting back from the toilet and leaning against the wall. “I don’t understand...I only had
one
drink. I would
never...
I’ve only wanted you for months.” His voice is strained and I still can’t look at him.

He
had
been calling out my name. That was why I’d opened the door to begin with.

“Ethan…” I shake my head, at a loss for words.

“Please Abby, please tell me you can forgive me. I know I don’t deserve it...fuck,” He lets out a broken sob that pierces my heart.

“I probably don’t have a right to be mad anyway,” I stare down at the floor. “We said we weren’t exclusive. You have every right to do whatever you want with whomever you want.”

He reaches for me and I flinch back, still unable to stop picturing him with Sarah.

“I’m so, so sorry. I haven’t been with anyone else, I swear. You’re the only one. I don’t understand what happened tonight, but I don’t want anyone but you.”

              “Okay.”

Abby

I wake up in our recliner. Ethan’s snoring on the couch. I reach for my phone to check the time. 6:30am, I heave a sigh. I should shower and get ready for class. I hope Ethan’s feeling well enough today to get by without me until the afternoon at least. My heart flutters as I look at him and I know that after his obvious regret and sincere apology I’m going to forgive him. Even though I know it’d be better to end things now before it’s too late. But, I am in this way too deep, and I think it’s way too late to get out without getting my heart broken at this point.

The hot water engulfs me and I sigh contentedly. Is there any greater pleasure on this Earth than a hot shower? My mind suddenly conjures up images of Ethan’s head between my legs. Heat spreads from my core through my lower stomach. Well, maybe there’s one greater pleasure on Earth. As though summoned by my dirty thoughts Ethan pulls back the shower curtain and steps into the shower. My gaze travels over his body, down his happy trail, and
good morning
.

“Like what you see sweetheart?” He asks in a cocky voice.

I give him the finger and he smiles.

“I woke up and my nurse was gone, I was going to ask for a sponge bath but I guess I’ll have to have a shower with the naughty nurse instead,” He waggles his eyebrows at me suggestively.

“I’ll play the naughty nurse. But, I should warn you I take the temperature the hard way,” I banter.

He barks out a laugh.

“Listen Red, I wanted to say thank you for taking care of me like that, when you had every right to kick me in the balls, instead.”

He grabs a bottle of shampoo and motions for me to turn around while he talks.

“My mom always said illness was caused by sin and if I prayed hard enough I’d get better. When I was ten I told her about viruses and bacteria, she beat the shit out of me.”

“I didn’t mind taking care of you,” I assure him placing a gentle kiss on his cheek. Somehow this moment with him washing my hair and telling me the pain of his childhood is so much more intimate than all of the steamy sex we’ve had. “And everything’s okay between us.”

Ethan turns me around to face him and gazes into my eyes. The air between us is charged with emotion.

              “Red, I-”

I don’t know what he was about to say but something about the look in his eyes tells me I need to stop him before he says it. I cut him off with a kiss. I run my tongue along his lower lip until he opens his mouth to let me in. The distraction works better than I’d hoped, hell I’m even distracted. He deepens the kiss, pulling me against him and exploring my mouth desperately. Our drenched bodies collide and create a delicious sensation. I tangle my fingers in his wet hair and he moans into my mouth. His strong hands grab my ass and hoist me up before slamming me against the shower wall. His tip teases my aching entrance and his mouth trails down to nibble the sensitive spot just below my jaw. I wiggle against him trying to get him inside of me. He pulls away and gives me a bashful smile.

“I didn’t plan this very well.”

It takes me a second to realize what he’s talking about but then it hits me.

“Oh... OH. Well, I have an IUD, but…” Tenderness and surprise fill his eyes.
