“I’m sorry,” he whispered, clutching her tight.

She got herself together. “How about your publicist, or manager’s assistant?”

He smiled and ran his fingers through his hair. “You really wanna go that bad?”

“Yes. I missed you.”

He gave her a brief kiss on the lips. “Then we’ll work something out.” He slapped her ass, hard, getting a shout in reply. “Now be a good girl and let me get to work.” He dressed quickly and headed outside.

Before heading to the shower, Mackenzie checked her phone. She had two texts. The first was from Jeremy, a new lover of hers. She frowned at the message.

Can we get together tonight?

With a scowl, she replied,

I told you how this works. I will contact you if I need you. You do not contact me, ever. Last chance.

That was how she ran her sex life. She was in charge. The next text was from Sasha. Her lips formed a lustful grin. He was the only exception, but he earned it. Sasha had serious stamina and a thick nine-inch cock that kept her sated for days. He was also the only one she socialized with. They had met at her office, when he had opened an account with her. They went out for drinks, stumbled to her place, and it was sealed.

Hey, sexy. I got something growing in my pants for you.

She blushed slightly, as if someone else could read it. She missed it if they didn’t fuck for a week. Although, it was not in the same way she missed Brandon. She typed her reply with a smile.

Mmmm, wish I was there to suck it. I was traveling when the storm hit. I’m on the bus with Brandon and the guys. I’ll text you when I get home. Then you can fuck me till I beg for mercy.

She turned her phone over and looked at the custom cover Brandon gave to her that matched his. It was black and had Wicked End’s logo on it. It attracted many questions. Perfect strangers would ask, “Where did you get that?” She always smiled and told them, “Brandon.”

Jake was outside directing, as usual. He felt as front man, he didn’t have to do grunt work. When he saw Brandon, he scowled. He was already sick of Mackenzie causing delays, and it had only been one day.

“She better not get in the way again,” Jake shouted to Brandon. “The no-chicks rule is for a good reason!”

Brandon rolled his eyes. He knew why Jake imposed it on them. It was because of his last band, Means to an End, where he was the bassist. The drummer insisted on his wife coming on tour with them. None of them minded, but she was a total bitch. She complained about everything, wouldn’t let them fuck on the bus and banned alcohol in her presence. By the time the tour was over, they were at each other’s throats, ready to throw in the towel. It was what led to Jake leave the band. That was also the reason he wanted to be the singer, so he was in charge.

“She’s not gonna turn into Broadzilla, Jake,” Brandon assured him. “And I swear if she starts to drive all of you crazy, I’ll send her to Baltimore.”

Chico huffed as he put down a heavy speaker. “You know she’s cool. It’ll be nice hanging out with her. Jake, stop being a dick.”

“Shut up, Chico!” Jake was not in a good mood.

Austin jumped down from the truck. “No fistfights today! Jake, go get a blowjob or something. You’re too pissy to be any help.”

Jake turned to scan the girls screaming at them from beyond a metal barricade that surrounded the parking lot. Angelo, Justin and Mark, who were all security, stood nearby waiting for one of them to break the perimeter. He nodded at Justin, who followed them to the girls. The girls got even louder.

Brandon shook his head. He knew what was coming next. Just as expected, Jake lifted a gorgeous blonde over the railing and led her back to the bus entrance. Shaking his head, Brandon got to work. They had a lot of stuff to unload and set up. The first night was always more complicated.

Mackenzie had just turned off the water in the shower when she heard a high-pitched giggle. She wrapped a towel around her and peeked into the hallway. Jake was undressing a woman as he pulled her to the back. Brandon had told her, Jake had a habit of making groupies get naked anywhere he saw fit, including the front lounge while others were around. No wonder they all called him a dog.

She watched them enter the back room and leave the door open. Jake lifted her up and tossed her on the couch, making her bounce a bit while she giggled. Then he lifted her skirt and tore her panties off while she opened his pants.

“I need it rough today.” He smirked and tugged his pants down a bit. He debated on wearing a condom or not, but the last thing he needed was a fan telling the tabloids he impregnated her. He was not ready for kids. “Play with yourself and get that pussy good and wet.” He turned and winked at Mackenzie. “Wanna join us? She can suck my cum outta your pussy.”

“Wow, you’re huge.” The girl watched Jake roll on a condom. “How come you need a condom with me and not with her?”

“Shut up and spread your legs, you nosy bitch.” Jake shrugged and knelt on the couch. “Hold on, this is gonna be a bumpy ride.”

Mackenzie hurried to get her clothes on, but she wasn’t fast enough to miss the girl’s cry of pain. She knew exactly why and was glad so many of Brandon’s friends were there to tame Jake with her. As she pulled jeans on, she heard slapping and screeches.

“Stop smacking my ass! That hurts!”

Jake stared into her eyes. “If you don’t like it, some other chick will. Do you want me to fuck you?”

“Yes.”

“Then shut up.”

Mackenzie rushed off the bus, not wanting to witness any more. She couldn’t really stand Jake before, and the feeling got worse with each passing second. Standing in front of the bus’ door, she watched the organized unload. Everyone was working as a team while several men stood outside the circle, arms folded across their chests.

“Can I help?” she shouted to Brandon as he carried a roll of cables to the back door of the arena.

He was surprised to see her so soon. “Um, ask Pepe, he’s on the truck.”

She took a deep breath and walked in that direction. “Pepe…” She waited until he poked his head out. “I wanna help.”

Pepe laughed. “You’re kidding, right?”

“No. I can hold my own.” She scowled. “I can lift about 50 pounds.”

He shook his head. “Sure you can.” He looked around and smirked. He figured that if he gave her something heavy, she would give up quickly. “Here, take this to Jason.” That was their sound engineer. He handed her a 40-pound mixer.

Mackenzie saw by the way he had lifted it that it was not light and had prepared for the weight. She bent her knees a bit just as she took it from him. Without struggling, she carried it to Jason, who stood in the middle of the floor, inside. Several roadies of multiple bands stared at her with their mouths open. Only one band had a female crewmember. She only ran wires. At least that was what she had been told.

“Hey… uh, it’s Mackenzie, right?” Shocked, Jason set the mixer on the table set up for his equipment. “Thanks, since when are you a roadie?”

She smiled. “Since I got nothing better to do, and I’m bored.”

“O—K, I got work to do, so see ya later.”

She had a huge grin on her face as she walked back to the truck. She hoped helping out would get them all to be more comfortable with her there for a week or two.

Chapter Eleven

Two hours later, Mackenzie lead the band through the radio station’s building with a clipboard in hand, pretending to be their events coordinator. Their manager’s assistant actually did that for them, but no one had to know that. The band’s entire schedule was right in front of her, just in case. She had her good business suit on to look the part. As they passed offices, it seemed to be working.

The band dressed as they did on stage, for the pictures they were told would be taken. Mackenzie loved it. Brandon looked sexier than ever. He had in every piece of hardware, down to his tongue ring and chains hanging from his pants. The eyeliner on both lids looked hot on him. With his dyed black hair spiked in every direction, heavy boots and black leather pants that were tight in the ass, her pussy was already moist. Unfortunately, he wore a shirt, but at least it was black as well, form-fitting and button down, with a few open showing off his smooth chest.

The other guys looked good as well, although she hadn’t watched them as closely. Jake, wore relaxed fit blue jeans and sneakers, but with a grey T-shirt that barely fit over his muscles and matched his eyes. His biceps bulged from the sleeves. That along with his slicked back short, brown hair seemed to drive girls crazy somehow.

Scott wore his usual tight-as-could-be black skinny jeans and an open black dress shirt covered in skulls. It took a lot of effort not to stare at the exposed skin on the trip there that day. His hair was in a ponytail at the back of his neck, and his alluring eyes were outlined to match Brandon’s as always.

Austin and Chico were more subtle for the most part. Austin wore a loose fitting Five Finger Death Punch shirt that looked like it could be Scott’s and low slung black jeans that showed off his very thin frame. He had dyed his Mohawk blue, the sides merely stubble. Chico had on a black tank top, to show off his hard-earned muscles paired with black basketball shorts. He said it was because he needed ease of movement behind his kit. His curly dark brown hair was above the shoulder, but below the collar and fell all around in no particular style.

Brandon winked at Mackenzie when she glanced back. He was so glad the guys agreed to the ruse. He, Scott and Austin were carrying acoustic guitars. The station had several fans in a room for them to meet before the interview. Then they were to play a few songs, live. He just hoped Mackenzie could handle it.

“Hey guys, welcome,” Art, the station manager said as he stood before an open door. “Come meet our second-place winners.” He led them into a large, open room.

The contest was a song competition. Each winner brought three guests. Six girls and two guys stood up as soon as Jake strode into the room. The girls were jumping up and down, most obviously bra-less. Mackenzie followed and stood against the wall. Brandon and Scott entering the room drew a squeal from one young woman. Then Austin and Chico brought up the rear.

The band shook the guys’ hands, but the girls hugged them instead. After that, one fan threw herself at Jake and another at Brandon. They were the most popular members. Both girls received a kiss and a bit of groping.

Jake, of course, taking it further, exploring if she wore panties, which she didn’t. “Meet me outside after the session,” he whispered in her ear. His fingers pushed against her leggings, trying to rub her clit. “I wanna piece of this.”

Mackenzie shook her head, quietly. Then she turned her attention to Brandon. He was struggling with his fan, who was running her hands all over him. She wanted to rip her hair out, but had known what to expect. Brandon had warned her of all the possibilities.

Just before Mackenzie went to leave the room, Angelo stepped in and quickly grabbed the girl. “Behave or you go home,” he told her.

Brandon fixed his clothes and hair. He hated when they undressed him in public. He buttoned his shirt and groaned when he noticed several buttons had come off it.

Mackenzie came up behind him. “I’ll fix it. Don’t worry.”

“Wow, you guys sure got a welcome,” Art commented with a smirk. He waited for Jake to end his examination of his groupie’s breasts. “Do you guys still have energy for the interview?” He laughed.

Jake leered at the girls. “I always have more energy.”

Mackenzie sat down when the band headed into the adjacent room. She received several dirty looks, but didn’t let them bother her. She had only heard one song from their newest album. It was something she was looking forward to that day.

Their songs were usually very hard, a cross between thrash metal and metalcore at times. Jake screamed and sang almost equally. Then it dawned on her. How were they going to play anything acoustically? They had only two ballads, and they were laced with heavy guitars and strong beats. When she heard music over the speakers in the room, she looked through the window.

Brandon smiled when he heard the intro to “Follow-through.” They had released that song two months prior. It did well on the rock charts. Hit number eight within days.

“So, what can we expect from this album?” The radio personality, Bruce Hill looked at the band members with eyebrows raised. “Are all the songs as heavy as ‘Follow-through?’”

Scott leaned forward. “Nope, we have a soft ballad on it called, ‘Thoughts of You.’ You wanna hear it?”

Bruce grinned widely. “Did you hear that folks, an exclusive debut. Make sure you pick up their CD,
Heaven and Hell
when it’s released Tuesday. It’s available at their concert tonight as well.”

The song started out with a fast beat then quick, synchronous notes by Brandon and Scott. Within seconds, it slowed a bit, and Jake began to sing. Jake’s raspy voice was not made for a ballad, but it gave the song grit, and he obviously worked hard on it.

Mackenzie’s eyes stayed on Brandon. He seemed more into that song than any other. She watched him mouth the words, which she had never seen him do. It was a love song in a way, which did not make sense at all. Then the chorus caught her attention.

“Except when you’re around, my heart is aching. Don’t know how to tell you that it keeps breaking. Deep inside I swear I’ll always be true. The only thing that helps is thoughts of you.”

Brandon tried not to blush as he saw the realization on Mackenzie’s face. He wrote the song for her, but didn’t expect her to find out. She finally smiled at him, and he relaxed. Maybe she understood how he felt. He hoped so, because he didn’t get it himself.

They toned down the next song, “Heaven’s Enemy,” just for the studio. The intro was more like a solo. Brandon wrote the sequence on the fly while listening to Jake sing the lyrics he had written. Normally it was a heavy song, with lots of distortion. Acoustic, it sounded almost mellow.

Mackenzie looked around. The girls were enthralled, staring at the band like they were the only water in the desert. She laughed to herself. They were like anyone else to her. Well, except for Brandon. He was really something special. She debated asking him about “Thoughts of You,” but wasn’t sure where to start.
