ABOUT THE AUTHOR

JAMES A. GRYMES
is an internationally respected musicologist and a critically acclaimed author. He holds a bachelor's degree in music education from Virginia Commonwealth University, master's degrees in historical musicology and music performance, and a PhD in historical musicology from Florida State University. His three previous books are about the Hungarian musician Ernst von Donhányi, a forgotten hero of the Holocaust resistance who was later falsely accused of Nazi war crimes. Dr. Grymes is a professor of musicology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
