Impossible
.
I’d yet to find a man that could meet my insatiable need, and I seriously doubted that I ever would. Even if I did, he’d probably just be a piece of shit like the rest of them.
His cobalt eyes narrowed, locking tight with mine. “Honestly, I have no idea why I invited you over. I saw you walk in and before I knew what was happening, I was on my feet and calling your name.” He shrugged one shoulder.
Good enough for me.
I ordered a glass of red and a grilled chicken salad. Barrett ordered another Sam Adams and a burger.
“How did you come to love music so much?” I nearly spit my wine across the table on his pretty white shirt.
“What makes you think I love it?”
“Well, one doesn’t become a music teacher without loving music. My mother was a music teacher.” He smiled affectionately. “Even when my father made enough money for her to stay home, she always found a way to teach and music was her passion. She sang in our church choir when we were younger and of course she forced her children to sing with her.”
I couldn’t help but laugh. The thought of this sexy ass man singing in a church choir had my mind venturing into all kinds of filthy gutters. Fuck, I was one twisted bitch. “Are you laughing at me?” Barrett held his chest as if he were wounded.
Smiling, I shook my head. “No. Well, yes. The mental image of you singing is…”
“What?” He leaned in closer, the smell of his cologne punching me right in the chest.
Fuck this man had such an effect on me. A bead of sweat trickled down my brow. Pressure and pain roared in my head like thunder, vibrating down my spine.
Oh shit, not now.
I had to get out of there. I scooted from the booth, clutching my bag. Block spots dotted my vision. “I’m sorry Barrett but I have to…”
The sight of the floor careening toward my face was the last thing I remember before pain and darkness engulfed me, dragging me under.
Tabitha & Barrett’s story will be released late Summer 2014.
