“Harlan is a good male.” Razar assured Lista once Harlan had Narcissi out the door. Tammie sensed drama would surround that one for a long time if not forever. The way she had tried to steal her sister’s mate was just shameful. Tammie had seen women like that before and she hoped she wouldn’t see much of Narcissi or anyone like her again.
“Is Lista’s family really coming here?” Travlr asked as he hugged Tammie to him.
“Yes, her mother had a surgery on Earth and it seems to have helped her but she needs much more than Earth can provide. Surprisingly, we have access to better medical treatment for humans here than they have on their own planet. Once she is over the rigors of surgery, she and Lista’s brothers will travel here. I will see they have no worries and that her mother gets well.”
It made Tammie feel better to know that Razar was a kind male and that he loved his mate. She knew Travlr was a good male too. Her situation was looking up and she had left Earth hopeless for any form of happiness and now she was hopeful that everything would work out.
Epilogue
“It’s amazing.” Travlr said as his mouth literally hung open while he toured their home. Tammie had shown a skill that surpassed any expectation he might have had.
The house was completed sooner than expected and his mate had numerous jobs lined up for her new construction business. The work on their house had allowed her to train her new workers, mostly women and men from Earth who had come here just to work for Tammie. Pride filled him as he saw the gleaming layer of wood that covered all the floors and the bright colors she had chosen for the walls. Windows let in light and the doors were clear to let in light as well. Some of the features she had chosen were unfamiliar to him but he would adjust to them in time.
The chandelier over the dining room table was impressive and glittered when the light hit it. The tables were all wood and the couches and chairs were covered in leather. Brass fixtures were used for the bathrooms, kitchen, and even on the pulls for the dressers in the bedrooms.
“I hoped you would like it. It was risky keeping you out while I finished things so I could surprise you. My nerves were starting to act up and I worried that you might not like it as I got closer to completing it.”
“You never should have worried. I’ll admit I don’t understand this surprise ritual your people have, but it worked. Razar will be jealous. His house was the talk of the planet before, now it will be ours.”
“That’s hard to imagine. You really think it will be talked about?” Tammie flushed with pleasure. There was a time she would never have considered owning her own business. Life had given her lemons and Travlr had helped her make some sweet lemonade.
“Absolutely, Sweetheart. You’re already overloaded with jobs and they are having an extra hunt that will add to the males who need homes for their mates.”
“Why are they having an extra hunt? I thought they could only have one every three months.”
That only applies to Earth mates. These are not from Earth but they are human.”
“Where are they from?”
“A lost outpost of Earth was discovered when a ship made an emergency landing. They called it New Earth even though the place is nothing like Earth. It is primitive having dinosaur like animals but they are much smaller than the ones earth had. The largest being the size of a cow or horse. There are about twenty thousand people with a nearly equal number of each sex. They were willing to let those females that chose to leave come with us in return for a number of items not otherwise available to them. I’ve heard a hundred females signed up overnight and the captain decided to bring them straight here. My belief is he feared the leader would change his mind.”
“Why would he think that?”
“Captain Grossar felt the leader thought only a few inferior females would choose to leave. When many young healthy females chose to go, he didn’t want to take the chance that the leader would make them stay.”
“So he decided to ask for forgiveness instead of permission?”
Travlr’s forehead wrinkled. “No, he decided to get the hell out of Dodge.”
Tammie had to laugh. She never knew when Travlr would understand an Earth saying and while he hadn’t understood the one she’d used, he’d applied his perfectly. Let the hunt begin!

Glendar was ready and the hunt began. Why was his female so savvy and resistant to the idea of being claimed? He feared he wouldn’t find her in time and even if he did that she would fight to the bitter end. It was impossible not to admire her, but he wanted a mate and he would do whatever was necessary to bind her to him.
Bernie had come from a hellish life on an outpost of Earth. Her father used his children and buried wives without a tear. The mating game had been her only escape and she would take it. If a male wanted her, it was game on!
In the game there were winners, losers, and those that didn’t care either way. What would they be?
