“Press back. Force it onto my cock.”

My mind told me not to do it. My ass throbbed along with my clit in anticipation.

Why did I want this? It was completely unnatural.

His finger began a slow circular movement on my clit.

At that moment, I would have done absolutely anything to keep his digit there.

I pressed backward, but when his cock burst through, excruciating pain throbbed in the muscle that encircled it.

“No…I can’t,” I cried out.

He held me still and wiggled his finger back and forth on my clit. My limbs jerked.

“Relax and let me take control. It will get better, I promise.”

His cock moved slightly inside me and I tensed.

He plunged his finger into my soaked pussy. I quivered from head to toe.

“Who’s in control, Tessa?”

“You are.”

“And who do you want inside you?”

I hesitated. I was afraid. But I wanted it.

“You,” I said.

“Who?”

“You, Dix—” I sucked in a breath as his cock inched into me. “You, Dixon Maddox.”

He retreated, then thrust in as his slick finger rolled over my clit.

A harsh jolt of pleasure engulfed me.

Dix pressed his warm palm into my back, forcing me down until my breasts met the cool mahogany.

“Relax,” he said. “I’ll take care of everything.”

His cock stilled as he plunged two fingers into my pussy.

“Ah!” I cried in a higher-pitch than I thought I was capable of. Muscles twitched in my arms, in my thighs.

His fingers and cock retreated in unison and plunged back in. Electricity jerked through me, from ass, to pussy to limbs and back again.

He went still again. I was going crazy.

“Tell me what to do, Tessa.”

“Fuck me!” I said.

“Where?”

“Fuck my ass! Please Dix. Fuck my ass.”

I heard the satisfaction in his chuckle. “I knew you’d like this.”

He plunged into my ass again, thrusting into me over and over as his fingers fucked my pussy.

When his soaked digits massaged my clit, I began to shudder.

“Damn, I love being in your tight little ass, Tessa.”

His words threw me into all-out orgasm. He thrust deep and groaned. He convulsed for several seconds and collapsed on my back.

“I need you, Tessa.” His hot breath panted into my ear. “Please don’t hurt me anymore.”

Chapter Ten

The following Friday, I drove to work with a heavy heart.

The previous weekend with Dix had ended wonderfully. Once his anger was gone, he realized he was being jealous and unreasonable.

He took complete responsibility for the horrifying debacle at the ranch and even called his brother to apologize and straighten things out.

We spent Saturday night and Sunday making gentle love to each other, cooking meals together, and cuddling up in front of the TV.

The most disastrous weekend of my life had turned into the most fabulous.

Dix and Mason had left for Japan on Monday, but Dix called me every day.

And now, I had to tell him I was leaving.

Every time the thought crossed my mind, a wave of misery swept over me and knots formed in my stomach.

How could I leave him now? But, how could I not?

A few minutes after I got in, Dix came through the door with a huge smile on his face and a bouquet of roses.

My chest throbbed.

“Wow, kind of early for you, isn’t it?” I was trying to lighten my own mood.

“It’s all in the motivation.” His blue eyes twinkled warm romantic naughty messages at me.

“Can I talk to you privately?” I asked, knowing Mason would come in the door at any moment.

“That’s what I was hoping for.” Dix grabbed me by the arm and practically dragged me to his office.

Before I could get a word in, he pushed me up against the wall and kissed the hell out of me.

I melted into his warmth, curling my arms around his neck.

I never wanted to let go.

“So,” he finally said when he released my lips. “What did you want to see me about?”

There was no way around it. I had to tell him now.

“I’m sorry Dix, but I have to go.”

“Are you sick?” he asked with genuine concern. He put his hand to my forehead to check for fever.

That was so sweet! How could I say this?

“No, I mean I have to go back to Michigan…to move back, actually.”

He looked like I’d slapped him. His eyes went dead. I searched them desperately for any remnants of the twinkle.

“Is it because of what happened this weekend?”

“No, not at all. It’s for a job.”

His eyebrows pushed towards each other in a confused little boy expression. God he was adorable.

“I can give you a raise,” he said. “How much do you need?”

“It’s not about the money. It’s about my mom.” I took in a deep breath. “My sister is good friends with the chief administrator at the facility where my mom lives. I’ve known him for years, too. He’d always said he wished he could hire me and now the human resources person is leaving.”

Dix opened his mouth, but apparently decided he should hear me out.

“I’d always planned to be in human resources. I’d have a good job there. They’ll pay for my tuition so I can finish the last year of college I missed because of my mom’s costs—”

“We could pay tuition—”

I held up my hand to stop him. “But most importantly, I’d be working in the same building my mother is living in. My brother and sister have been trying to take turns checking on her almost daily, but they have full-time jobs, spouses, and kids.”

Dix’s shoulders dropped. His expression disturbed me, since I’d never seen him look defeated before.

“So this is all about your mom.”

“And my sister and brother, who are two of the best people I know. I can’t leave everything in their laps. This way, I can check on her every day while I’m at work. They can visit when it’s more convenient, knowing she’s okay. Everyone’s lives can be closer to normal. And they’ve even offered me a discount on my mom’s care that would help the family immensely.”

Dix blew out a frustrated breath and swallowed hard. His eyes had shifted away from mine. I wasn’t sure if he was angry with me or just sad.

“Okay, I understand,” he said, focusing his sincere gaze on me. “How do you want to leave this between us?”

“I don’t want to leave this at all, but—”

“But Michigan’s a long way from Texas, and we’ve only known each other a few weeks, and this could be physical attraction run amuck?”

“Yeah.” He’d voiced exactly the same thoughts I’d had when I’d contemplated staying in Houston to be with him.

He reached up and caressed my face.

“I got the idea from our conversations this weekend that you haven’t dated a ton of men,” he said. “But I’ve dated a ton of women.”

“When you say it like that, I imagine the women to be really huge.”

He laughed. “What I mean is, I’m pretty sure about us…from my end anyway.”

“But I can’t—”

He pressed a finger to my lips and I shut up.

“I have an offer you can’t refuse. You go to Michigan. Start your new job, look after your mom. I’ll wait for you.”

“What do you mean?”

“For the next six months I’ll be waiting for you to figure out if your feelings for me were a product of our weird arrangement. I won’t be dating other women. I’ve dated enough.”

“But—” I tried to say through his finger. He pressed harder.

“You will live your life normally. Date men if you want to. Sleep with them if that’s what you need to do, not that I want to imagine it…” His eyes left mine and he looked like he was imagining just that.

I grasped his cheeks with my palms and focused him back on me.

He smiled. “We’ll mark our calendars for exactly six months from today. I’ll call you on that day. If you don’t feel the same way anymore, tell me and I’ll bow out. No questions asked.”

“And if I do still feel that way?” I didn’t understand how this would solve our long-distance romance problem.

“I’m not stuck here. I haven’t bought a ranch like Mason. You can’t tell by lookin’, but I’m the city slicker of the family. And there’s no reason I have to spend all my time here. I can do my job from anywhere and travel for meetings like I do now.”

“But your brother... Wouldn’t he be lonely?”

“Sometimes I think I make him worse. Maybe a little distance would be good for us. I think as long as I’m around, being the devil- may-care social butterfly, he has to take the other spot.”

“You mean Type A personality, overly responsible with imaginary OCD that seems to come and go with the situation?”

“Yeah… So what do you think of my plan?”

“You were right. It’s definitely an offer I can’t refuse. But six months seems like a really long time right now.”

He kissed me on the nose.

“It’ll go by fast for you with learning the new job and meeting all those new men. I’m the one who’ll be pining for you, sitting alone every night with my computer porn.”

I laughed with him and realized I’d never enjoyed anyone’s company so much.

“Dix, I don’t really think I’ll be able to bring myself to date anyone else.”

“Shhh…” The finger was back on my lips. “Don’t make me any promises. I want you to do whatever it takes to figure this out, although I’d rather not have the details. You know how jealous I get.”

“I’ve never had anyone pine for me before. I think I like the idea.”

“Yeah, when you see me again, I’ll be covered in cones and needles.”

“Huh?”

“Pine cones…pine needles?”

“What a stupid joke!” I cried as I threw my arms around his neck. “I know I’m not supposed to make promises now, but I think I love you Dix.”

“Yeah, we’ll see how you feel in six months.” But he squeezed me so tight I knew he didn’t want to let me go.

And I was certain that Dixon Maddox would need a warm coat come December.
