They lay together, peacefully relishing the aftermath of pleasure. A minute later, he brushed his lips over hers until she moaned in response.

“Half time’s over,” he whispered.

Chapter 15

Zoey peered on her celphone screen and rubbed her eyes. She peered again. It was her husband.

Troy was now in Colorado, preparing for his game against the Broncos the next day. He’d been on the road for the last two weeks. Everyday, he had always called her, but usually during the night. Not in the morning, not especially at six.

“Hi, Troy. What’s up?” she asked, her voice still hoarse after just waking up.

“Hi, babe. Sorry to wake you up. This is kind of urgent.”

She frowned. “Why? What’s wrong?”

“Nothing’s wrong. I just need you here right now.”

Her heartbeat raced. “Did something happen?” she asked anxiously.

“I’ll tell you later. Just come right away. I’ve already booked you a ticket. I sent the details in your email. Print it out and pack up.”

“I’m… still in your parents’ house. I promised Bessie I’ll take her to school today.”

“Her nanny could do that for now.”

“No, I have to do it. I’ve got a feeling I’m under surveillance by the social services if I’m doing my responsibilities as her guardian.”

“If they didn’t deny you permission to move Bessie to Springfield, you could have taken better care of her.”

“Yes, I’ve spoken with Jenna, the social worker. She did not tell me directly her reason why, but it seems she has the impression that I’m too busy with my new celebrity status.”

“It’s not like you wanted it.”

“Well, that’s what she thinks of me, so I have to prove her wrong.”

“Alright. You take Bessie to school, but after that, come here. After the game tomorrow, we’ll fly back to New York right away and we’ll both take her to school.”

She smiled and nodded. That seemed like a good idea. “Okay.”

“And Zoey, I miss you.”

Although anxious, she couldn’t help herself from smiling. It was the first time he’d said such words. It made her heart swell. “I miss you, too.”

She printed out the papers and packed up, just as he had told her to. Something must be very wrong, otherwise Troy wouldn’t be calling her very early in the morning and summon her all the way to Denver to meet him.

She woke Bessie up, bathed her, fed her, and drove her to school. Then she proceeded to the airport.

The flight was quite long, but she made it to Denver’s airport by three in the afternoon. The weather was nice, a lot warmer than the freezing temperature in Springfield.

She called Troy. He was not answering. He must still be in the field right now. Anyway, he had given her the name of the hotel where they were supposed to meet. She could find her way there on her own. She didn’t have to bother him.

She took a cab. Half an hour later, she arrived at the hotel and proceeded immediately to the reception area.

To her surprise, she was informed that Troy was already in the suite, waiting for her.

She took the elevator and knocked on his door. A few seconds later, the door opened, and he emerged almost naked, wearing nothing else but a pair of boxers.

“Hi, baby,” he said and grabbed her in his arms. After pressing a kiss on her lips, he pulled her inside and shut the door closed. “Oh, I miss you,” he whispered and kissed her again.

She responded to his kisses, but when he started zipping down her dress, she gently pushed him away. “We can’t. You have a game tom—”

His mouth silenced her. This time, he succeeded in undressing her.

“Troy, what are you doing?” she asked when his lips slid down her neck. “We can’t do this. Logan will kill you.”

He ignored her and took off her bra, followed by her panties. He carried her to bed, and then pulled down his boxers.

She gasped at the sight of his cock. Good Lord, he was exceptionally huge. It looked like he’d been keeping that hard on even before she arrived.

“Oh, God, Zoey,” he said as he lay on top of her. “I miss you.”

She held on to his shoulders as he rained kisses on her neck and chest. “I thought you wanted me here for some urgent matters?”

“This is urgent,” he replied and took her nipple deep in his mouth.

She moaned and held his head, burying her fingers underneath his hair.

His mouth travelled lower to her abdomen, to her belly, until he found his way to her clit. With his tongue, he flicked the sensitive bud, until it swelled and heightened her arousal. She felt her juices soaking her entrance.

He was in a hurry. As he had said, it was urgent. He spread her legs wide and suddenly drove his throbbing cock inside her.

“Oh, God, Troy!” she exclaimed. She had not anticipated his rough entrance, but she was not complaining at all. It just surprised her.

As his thick flesh continued to drill its way through her soft inner muscles, she moaned. It felt good. His burning temperature and his hardness that scorched and rubbed her insides were enough to drive her mad.

“Have you been dreaming of this while I’m gone?” he asked, thrusting in and out of her.

She held on tight to his shoulders as he practically pounded her with all his strength, relentlessly.

God, he really needed a good fuck. Now, she understood why he had to ask her to come all the way to Colorado just so he could fuck her. No, that was a wrong word. So he could make love with her.

“I dream about it every minute,” she admitted.

He held her face and stared into her eyes. Both of them were gasping hard, him specially, but he had no intention of slowing down. In fact, he even increased his speed and enjoyed the sight of her breasts bouncing back and forth.

“I’m so near,” he rasped, which somehow surprised her. Troy Myers, the infamous womanizer, had never come this soon before. But perhaps he needed it. His load had to go or it would wreak him apart.

“Come with me, baby. Squeeze me.” Suddenly, he stopped and laid his head back down, followed by a deep, harsh growl of an animal that has finally broken free after years of captivity.

She involuntarily tightened her muscles around him, drawing a louder moan from him. His hot cum. They were pouring inside her endlessly, lavishly.

Without warning, her orgasm hit her. She arched her body against his. She wrapped her arms tighter around his back. Her cries of pleasure echoed around the room.

Heavenly bliss. It had been almost two weeks since the last time they made love. She was glad she’d come all the way here. She’d gladly travel for another day just to have another taste of this delicious bliss.

Together, they collapsed on the bed, gasping.

“The more I fuck you, the more that I can’t get enough of you,” he whispered in her ear when his breathing slowed down.

She smiled. “You’re heavy.”

He propped himself on his elbows and smiled at her. “You tired?” he asked.

She stretched like a kitten underneath him. She knew what he wanted. He wanted round two. Troy Myers wasn’t the type who’d stop right after he had spilled his lust out. He had loads to unload. Once was never enough. “Maybe,” she teased.

He smiled and slowly turned her around, positioning her on all fours, and then he knelt behind her, his cockhead teasing her entrance.

She sighed in delight. She wished he’d just put his cock inside her now and fuck her crazy. But she had some concerns. “Are you sure about this?” she asked. “I don’t want you exhausted for your game tomorrow.”

He reached around and massaged her clit. “Impossible,” he said and pushed forward, tunneling once again into her channel. “I’ve done it many times before, with two women.”

“I’m just… concerned.”

He bent forward and squeezed her breasts. “Don’t worry, baby. I’ll take it slow. Neither of us will be too tired. We’ll only feel pleasure—just pure pleasure.”

Her eyes shut closed. She was no longer capable of retaining her sense of reason. She wanted this just the same. She wanted his cock to remain inside her forever if she could.

Zoey smiled as she watched Troy soundly sleeping beside her. He slept like a child—so at peace. She’d never seen this kind of look from him when he was awake.

She reached out and brushed the strands of hair that had fallen over his forehead. This man, whose face and body was every woman’s dream, had been exclusively hers for the last few weeks. It had never been her dream to get laid by this man, but oh boy, wasn’t she the luckiest woman on earth?

Her heart knocked on her chest, so loud that she could no longer ignore it. She loved him. God help her, but she might as well admit it.

She had felt this feeling sprouting within her since the very first time she saw him in the hospital, but at that time, her hatred for him had shrouded that it. Now that her leg had healed and she had forgiven him, her love for him had only grown stronger.

There was no more reason why she had to suppress her feelings for him. He had changed. She could see it. Ever since they were married, he had always come home to her at night. And when he was on the road, Logan had kept an eye on him and assured her that he had never sneaked out at night as he had often done before. But this time, he had done it again… to be with her.

Perhaps, he felt the same for her. No, she was sure about it. He just wouldn’t say it, but she knew he loved her.

He may have been a notorious womanizer, but since the accident, she had never seen him with any other woman. She did not have any reason to suspect he was meeting someone else in secret either. The fidelity that he had shown her was flattering, especially from a man like Troy Myers.

Not only that. Everyday, even if he was not on the road and was just practicing with his team, he would call her just to ask how she was doing. So what else would that tell her but the glaring truth that he loved her? He was just not the kind of man who’d express his feelings into words.

She closed her eyes and cuddled closer to him, resting her head on his shoulders. It felt like heaven. The strength and hardness of his body gave her a sense of security. She wished it would be like this forever, and their divorce agreement would soon be forgotten.

Gently, she brushed her knee against his crotch, intending to tease him, but to her surprise, she felt his hard flesh instead.

Briefly, she froze. When she opened her eyes to have a look, she found him staring at her.

He smirked. “You want more?” he whispered.

For a second or two, she was speechless. “You need to rest.”

“I’m asking if you want more.”

She swallowed. She should just say no, but she could not force the words out of her mouth, maybe because it was not the answer she wanted to tell him. “Do you?” she returned instead.

He smiled and rolled her over, pressing his body over her. “I’m not really sure,” he teased and spread her legs. Immediately, he entered her.

She moaned and wrapped her legs around him to welcome him deeper inside her. The feel of his hard, thick, hot cock filling her up had always driven her crazy.

“Now, I’m sure I do want more,” he said and began to thrust in and out of her, moaning and groaning in pleasure. “Do you?”

She held on to his shoulders, meeting his every thrust. “I’m not sure,” she teased back.

He laughed under his throat and increased his pace, rocking the bed underneath them. “Now, are you?”

Gasping, she tightened her arms and legs around him. The faster he moved inside her, the closer he sent her to orgasm. “Yes, Troy. I’m sure now. I want more.”

“You shall have it.” He lengthened his strokes and plunged back into her harder. She found herself crying and writhing in pleasure underneath him, followed by a shrill scream as her orgasm washed over her.

Chapter 16

“Five weeks?” Troy asked enthusiastically from the other line of the phone. “So you got pregnant even before you agreed to have a baby with me.”

“It seems like it,” Zoey nodded. She just came from the gynecologist who confirmed the positive result of her pregnancy test device and she immediately called Troy to tell him about the good news. He sounded ecstatic.

“Wow. That’s the best Christmas gift I’ve received so far.”

“Christmas is over, baby.”

“It’s still Christmas to me, and I really miss you and Bessie. I’m sorry I should have spent more time with you.”

“Just win against the Dolphins. That’s all we want.”

“Uh-huh. But if we beat the Dolphins, they’ll be eliminated from the playoffs, and it might be my team and your favorite team for the championship once again.”

“That’s exactly what I want to happen,” she teased.

“Baby, it breaks my heart to see you cry after we beat your team, but we’re not going to lose this time.”

“Then show me what you got.”

“You will.”

“Hey, Myers!” Logan’s voice yelled in the background, stunning her. “Get the fuck off that phone right now and get your ass back on the field.”

“Sorry, baby. Duty calls. I’ll talk to you later,” he said and he was disconnected.

Grinning, she put the phone back in her purse. She stood up and waved at Bessie to step out of the playhouse.

“We’re leaving already?” Bessie asked, slipping her feet into her slippers.

“Yes, darling. Jenna wants to see you.”

“Why does she always want to see me?”

“To make sure you are doing fine.”

“But I’m fine.”

“Maybe she’s not convinced, so let’s prove it to her.”

Bessie did not ask any more questions as they walked out of the McDonald’s building. On their way to her car, they passed by a newspaper stand and she had to stop when she read the headline of a sports tabloid. The controversy was about Troy Myers again.

She had promised herself to stay away from tabloid gossips, but she could not ignore this.

She bought the paper and right after buckling Bessie on her seat, she started reading.

Her ears and cheeks were glowing hot after she read the news. Not again. Why can’t they stop all these nonsense about Troy? He had changed, and whatever mistakes he had done in the past, he had taken full responsibility over them. Why can’t they just leave him alone?

“Jeremy, what the fuck was that on the paper today?”

“What?” Jeremy returned.

Troy tightened his grip on the phone. “The damn contract is all over the papers,” he grunted furiously. In ten minutes, the game would start, but he was still in his locker, confronting his lawyer about his secret contract with Zoey that he found printed on the paper.

“What the hell,” Jeremy said. “I told you not to read today’s paper until after the game.”

“I was curious why you warned me, so I checked it out. What the hell happened? You are supposed to keep that contract.”

“I kept that contract, Troy. I told no one about it.”

“Then explain to me how the fuck did it make its way to the press.”

“I don’t know, but I swear I had nothing to do about it. I have a suspect, but I don’t have proof.”

“If it isn’t you, then it has to be your secretary. Did you confront her?”

“I did, but she denied it.”

“Oh, the fuck. Of course, no guilty person will admit she did it, and that includes you. I trusted you. Now, look what you’ve done.”

“Troy, why don’t we talk about this later? Focus on the game for now. I’ll try to think of something to make up for this.”

“So you admit. You did it.”

“No. I admit I was negligent, but I did not hand over the contract to the press. You know I could never do that to you.”

Troy rolled his eyes and dropped the phone.

Damn it.

Damn it, damn it, damn it!

All the while, he thought his life was at peace once again. Now, this atomic bomb was dropped over his head and he had no idea how to detonate it.

He noticed the letter that Logan just handed him earlier. His coach told him to read it after the game, but once again, he was curious to know what the Discipline Committee had to say to him.

“Fuck,” Troy softly uttered after reading the letter. The player’s association was requesting him to report before them after the game to explain about the newest controversy involving him and his wife. The news had already spread like wild fire that the association was forced to deal with it before it caused any more damage to the league.

The newspaper called his marriage a sham, and that he had paid Zoey a hefty amount of money to cooperate with him. Although, according to Jeremy, there wasn’t any legal ground for anyone to sue him, but some groups swore they’d find a way to make him accountable for the fraud he had done.

Now, he was in deep shit once again, and worse, Zoey was in it too.

That poor woman. She didn’t deserve to be dragged into this. She had been through a lot already just because of him.

He grabbed his phone and called Jeremy.

“Troy, let’s talk about this after the game, okay?” Jeremy replied as soon as he accepted the call.

“Jeremy, I’m sorry,” Troy said in a much calmer voice. “It’s not about that. It’s about Zoey.”

“What about her?”

He sighed. “I don’t want her involved any further. I’m letting her go.”

“You mean… divorce.”

“Yes.”

“If you do that, the more that people will be inclined to believe you just married her for your personal gain.”

“I know, but this is not for me. This is for her. I forced her into a marriage she didn’t want. I have to let her go now.”

“I don’t think this is the right time for you to be doing that.”

“It is the perfect time, Jeremy. Let her go before she gets tangled up with all this mess.”

Jeremy sighed. “I don’t agree with you on this, man, but alright. Whatever you say.”

*****

“Good afternoon, Jeremy,” Zoey greeted as she entered the lawyer’s office.

Jeremy cleared his throat and sat up straight before his desk. “Good afternoon,” he replied. “Sit down.”

“Troy can’t come home for the new year. They made it to the wildcard playoffs.”

He nodded. “Yes, that’s sad.”

“No, it’s okay. As long as they win the game. It’s all worth the sacrifice.”

He nodded again. “Right.”

She frowned. Something was wrong with this man. He looked anxious. “So why did you ask me to come over?”

He loosened his tie and stroked his throat, as if clearing his vocal cord. He even avoided her gaze. “I need you to sign some documents.”

“What documents?”

He pulled a folder from his drawer and laid it on the table, but he did not open it. He took a deep breath instead. “Troy told me you had an oral agreement about the baby.”

Her eyes widened. Suddenly, a heavy weight crashed down chest. But she did not want to make a conclusion just yet. “Yes,” she nodded. “Why?”

“He told me to put the agreement in writing.” He opened the folder and pushed it closer to her. “He wanted you to sign this.”

She glanced at the document, but for some reasons, she could not comprehend a word. She could only see meaningless letters. “Is this an agreement that he’d get custody of my baby?” she asked.

He nodded. “According to him, that’s what you have both agreed on.”

“I only agreed to have a baby with him.” She slapped the top of the desk, alarming Jeremy for a brief moment. She had tried to be calm, but her anger hit her so suddenly. “I did not agree with anything about his taking custody.”

Jeremy shrugged his shoulders. “Why don’t you read the stipulations? If you have any problems, you may discuss it with Troy. And by the way, I left the compensation blank. Troy said you may fill it in.”

She pushed the folder back to him. “I’m not signing it.” She was about to stand up when he hinted for her to wait for a second. She sighed while he pulled out another folder from his drawer.

“I know you’re upset, but this is my job as his lawyer,” he explained and laid the folder before her.

She opened the folder and the first thing she saw, written in big, bold letters, was the word ‘divorce’.

Shocked, she darted her eyes at Jeremy. “He is divorcing me?” she asked. Suddenly, her fingers felt cold and numb.

“I know the original agreement stated one year, but for some reasons, Troy changed his mind. He wanted the divorce proceeding started as soon as possible.”

She remained gawking at the lawyer, still unable to believe that Troy would actually do these things to her. All along, she thought her marriage, which started as a sham, was working out somehow.

Her chest tightened, as if an iron hand was squeezing her heart. Before she could burst into tears, she stood up and ran out of the room.

Jeremy did not try to stop her, nor come after her. In the elevator, she finally released the tears that she’d been trying to hold back and started sobbing.

She should have known it. She shouldn’t have trusted Troy ever. All those kindness that he had shown her, they were nothing but pretense after all. She was too stupid to fall into his trap.

Her intuition was right after all. That man was a devil in flesh. She should have kept hating him.
