Aunt Roxie brightened. “Oh, think of how in demand we’ll be.”

“I wonder where he could have taken her,” Angelica said.

“I almost forgot,” Duke Magnus said, passing his son a missive. “This arrived from London.”

After their visitors had gone, Angelica watched her husband as he read the letter. When he raised his dark gaze to hers, he appeared displeased.

“Is there a problem?” she asked.

“Charles and Venetia Emerson arrived safely in Australia and promptly disappeared from my surveillance,” Robert answered. “This doesn’t bode well for Alexander. I’ll send him a note.”

“That doesn’t bode well for any of us,” Angelica said.

Without disturbing his son, Robert put his arm around her and drew her close, saying, “I’ll protect you with my life, angel.”

When she cuddled against him, Robert dropped a kiss on the crown of her head. “How did I manage to tempt an angel into becoming my wife?” he asked.

Angelica smiled and drawled in a perfect imitation of her aunt, “Darling, you seduced me.”

“Oh, but you were
so
cooperative.”
