“I am a good
driver, Tiaan.”

“Yes, on a
race track.  In the city you can’t drive like that.  I am serious, Allison.
Either you start driving properly, or I will lock your car away and get a
driver to cart you around.”

Allison nearly
swallowed her tongue and scowled at him.  “You will do no such thing.”

“Watch me.”

Her annoyance
with Tiaan at least purged the memory of Greg Scott from her mind.  She managed
to relax and enjoy the evening with Michael, Lucas and surprisingly Willow and
Savannah, who were also there.

Savannah
waited until they were alone before approaching Allison.

“I just wanted
to apologize once again for my insensitivity the other day.  I should have
realized you might not have…dammit, I should not have said something in front
of everyone, period.  I really am sorry.”

“What happened
with Simla?”

“Apparently
the same as with you. He got bored and dropped her.  He just left her.”

“It seems to
be a habit of his.  He phoned me this afternoon.  Did you give him my number?”

“No, but he
knew about your practice.  What did he want?”

“Please, let’s
forget about him.  I really don’t want to think about him, let alone talk about
him.”

“With a man
like Tiaan by your side, I don’t blame you, girlfriend.”

Allison lifted
her eyes and they were caught by Tiaan’s glittering blues.  He winked at her,
his smile slow and wicked.  The twinkle in his eyes made promises of what was
to come.

Her stomach
twirled and her pussy clenched in anticipation, drenching her panties and she
groaned.  Tiaan must have heard her as he laughed softly.  Less than fifteen
minutes later he ushered her to her car – into the passenger seat and brushed
her protest away.

“For your own
preservation, my love.  I have plans for that body of yours tonight and it does
not include a spanking.”

A
spanking?
I’ll have you know, Tiaan Sheppard, I am not a child and if you
dare spank my ass, I will break that…that black, creepy statue on your study
desk over your head.”

“You dare
touch my fertility statue and…what is so funny?”

“Fertility…oh
hahaha…please tell me you are kidding!”

Tiaan glanced
at her with a small smile on his lips.

“Nope, I am
very serious.  How do you think I keep my cock hard all the time for you.”

Tiaan!

“I’m serious,
baby.  I rub his…fertility stick and say, keep me hard, keep me hard, keep me
hard every night before I go to bed.”

“Oh, you are
such a fake! You are not a hard assed, womanizing Tycoon, you are a backstreet
comedian.”

As soon as
they got home, he proceeded to prove his womanizing prowess to her.  Gasping
for breath as he brought her to climatic heights over and over she admitted
that he was the lover of which women’s dreams were made.

“As long as
you are this woman’s lover only, Tiaan Sheppard.”

“No doubt
about it, baby.  As long as you realize I will destroy any man who dares to
touch you. And once I am done with him…I will start on you.”

Chapter Eleven

“I am telling you, it is because
of us that this restaurant is still open.”

Willow and
Allison laughed at Savannah’s announcement around a sip of her dry white wine.
Both nodded in agreement.

“True.  If not
for our extravagance once a month, they would have closed down years ago.”

They had been
meeting for lunch at The Burrows Inn restaurant every last Wednesday of every
month for the past eight years.  It was situated halfway between her practice
and Tiaan’s office in Manhattan.  Allison wondered idly if he had ever had
lunch there and made a mental note to ask him.

They had just
finished their appetizers when someone crowded Allison’s chair from behind and stooped
over her.  She looked up and her mouth was captured under warm soft lips.
Allison stiffened and immediately jerked back.

“Sparkles.
What a coincidence?  I could hardly believe my eyes when I walked in and saw
you here.  You look fantastic, darling.”

Coincidence,
my ass.
Greg knew very well of their long
standing arrangement.  Since he spoke to her on the phone, three weeks ago, he
had been phoning her every day and every day she had ignored the calls, voice and
text messages.  She had hoped he had received the message.  Clearly he had not.

“What do you
want, dickhead?”  Willow was her usual blunt self.  “You are interrupting our
lunch, so hit the road, asshole.”

Allison sighed
as people around them started to look around and listen.  She looked at Greg.
He was still as attractive as ever, with his dark blonde hair and dark green
eyes.  He was tall and well-built with a natural sex appeal that attracted
women.  Now, looking at him, she felt no attraction.  Not even a slight twinge.

“What do you
want, Greg?”

“To talk.  You
owe me at least that, Sparks darling.”

Willow and
Savannah both nearly had a conniption at his assertion.  Willow turned to Greg
and took a deep breath.  Allison circumvented a public tirade and got up from
her chair before she could snap at him.

“It’s okay,
Willow.  I will talk to him.”   She turned to Greg and barked at him, pointing
to the small alcove visible to everyone in the restaurant.  “Over there.”

“Why don’t we
rather go to the front room?  It is more private there.”

“We talk over
there or not at all.  I have nothing private to discuss with you.”

Allison
started walking toward the alcove, Greg so close on her heels she could feel
his heat against her back.  She turned and stood with her back to the window
facing outside and looked at Greg.  Her expression deliberately empty.

“You have two
minutes.”

“Don’t be like
this, darling.  At least say you will have dinner with me.”

“You know, if
you appeared remorseful for what you did to me, I would have agreed.  You are
an asshole, Greg and in case you forgot, you ended our engagement.  Over three
years ago and now you pop up here and pretend all is well as if we’ve just had
a fight.”

“I messed up
and I admit it, darling.  Now, I want to make it up to you.”

“And you are
so demented that you believe I sat around like a heartbroken little doll and
did not move on?  I don’t believe you.  You are way beyond arrogant.  I am only
going to say this once, Greg.  I am not interested.
So, leave me alone.

Allison took a
step around him, but he caught her arm within his tight fist.  She gasped and
yanked herself out of his grasp.

“Don’t touch
me, Greg.  Don’t you ever touch me again.”

She spun
around and her heels clattered on the wooden floor as she nearly sprinted back
to the table where Willow and Savannah sat watching them openly.

“Fucking
asshole.”  Willow mumbled as Allison took her chair.  She had just sat down
when Greg leaned over her and placed a lingering kiss on her neck.  She cursed
and pushed him away.

“I will not
give up, Sparks darling.  We are meant to be.”

Allison
grimaced and glared after his retreating body.  Her eyes were caught by steely
blue ones.  Eyes that glittered so harshly and so furiously, she flinched.

“Oh, shit.”

Both her
friends looked up and noticed Tiaan at the entrance into the dining hall with a
group of business associates.  He excused himself briefly without taking his
eyes off her and made his way over to their table.  He stopped next to her chair,
incinerating her with his rage.

“Tiaan, I did
not expect to see you here.”

“That much was
abundantly clear
.  Do you recall my warning, Allison?”

Allison winced
and reached out to touch his hand.  He jammed both into his pants pockets.

“I asked you a
question.”

“It is not
what it seemed.”

Tiaan’s eyes
did not waver and his anger seemed to be increasing by the second.  His voice
was harsh and dark.

“Do not be
late getting home tonight, Allison.”

“I…won’t. I am
going home directly from here.”

“You do that.”

He nodded at
Willow and Savannah as he turned to join his group, at a private table, in the
corner of the restaurant.

Allison felt
his eyes on her throughout their meal and her heart shuddered inside her
chest.  She had never thought she would ever see him this angry.  Not at her.
She refused dessert as did her friends, realizing she was upset.

“He will
understand if you explain, Allie.  He is not an unreasonable man.”

“I am not so
sure.  He is extremely possessive and warned me about other men touching me.
No, he specifically warned me about
Greg
touching me.”

“You didn’t
ask that prick to touch you.  I should have thrown my stiletto at him like I
wanted to, the moment he leaned over to kiss you.”

Willow was so
angry her voice raised an octave or two.  Savannah nodded her agreement.

“If you need
us to, we’ll vouch for you, Allie.  Just call us.”

“Thanks, but I
would rather just go home now.”

Allison barely
got home when her cell phone rang.  She glanced at the screen identifying the Mount
Sinai Hospital in Manhattan.  There was another emergency.  Due to a school bus
accident, there were numerous kids with multiple dental trauma.  Allison
quickly changed into slacks and a shirt, then ran to her car.

She phoned
Tiaan while on the ferry, not sure if he would answer.  He did, almost
immediately.  His voice was brusque and from the background noise, he was still
at the restaurant.

“Allison.”

“I’m sorry to
bother you.  I just wanted to let you know that I have been called to an
emergency at Mount Sinai.  There was a school bus accident that has left
several children with dental trauma.  It sounds as if I will be doing surgery,
so I’ll probably be home very late.”

“I’ll fetch
you from the hospital.”

“It is not
necessary, Tiaan.  It might be after midnight.”

“The last
ferry is at twelve, Allison, so the only way back is with the chopper I will be
at the hospital and wait in the doctor’s lounge.  Stephan Grange is a friend of
mine and everyone knows me there.”

Stephan Grange
was the Hospital Director and Allison sighed.

“I really
don’t want you to go to so much trouble.  I could always just spend the night
at my house.”

“Allison, I
would never allow you to drive alone that late at night.  I will be there.”

“Very well.”

If not for the
fact that Tiaan was furious with her, she would have found his protectiveness
endearing.  Now, all she could think about was that he did not trust her.  That
he probably did not even believe that she was going to the hospital. She sighed
again and was her way as soon as the ferry docked.

By the time
Allison walked into the surgeon’s lounge she was so tired, she could barely
keep her eyes open.  Some of the surgeries were very long and required a great
deal of focus. Other patients, she could only suture up to be fixed at a later
stage.  She had been on her feet next to an operating table for close to nine
hours and was on the verge of collapsing.  Tiaan was working on his laptop with
a frown on his face when she walked in.  He took one look at her, closed his
laptop and walked to her to take her into his arms. Allison crumbled and melted
into him.

She did not
even protest when he picked her up in his arms and strode to his Bentley in the
parking area.   It was nearly one in the morning, with hardly any traffic as he
pulled into the street.   Tiaan glanced at Allison. She was already fast asleep
and did not even flicker an eyelid when he carried her to the chopper.

 Tiaan
undressed Allison and put her to bed without her blinking an eye.  He drew the
sheet over her and stood looking down at the sleeping woman, his jaw rigid.
Anger still churned inside him.  He had never been as close to committing a
violent act in public as he had been earlier that day.  When they walked into
the restaurant’s dining area, it was to the sight of another man’s hand on
Allison’s arm.  Her eyes were on his and they were in an intense conversation.
Watching him lean over and kiss her on her cheek thereafter, nearly crushed
him, especially as she did nothing to prevent it.

It did not
take a genius to know who the bastard was.  He had been a witness to a tête-à-tête
between his woman and her ex-fiancé.  After she had been warned to stay away
from him.

Allison turned
on her side and reached to his side of the bed.  Tiaan sighed, undressed and
got into bed.  He drew her against his body and she immediately draped herself
half on top of him.  His cock twitched and he grimaced.

Not even in
his anger could his physical reaction toward her be inhibited.

Tiaan was
already gone when Allison woke up the following morning and she felt like
crying. They had been together for five weeks and it had been total bliss.
Tiaan was a pleasure to live with. He was considerate, funny and very
attentive.  She hated that there was a rift between them.  One of her own
making.  She should never have agreed to speak with Greg in that damn
restaurant.

Now Tiaan was
so angry that he could not even stand to talk to her.  She looked over to his
side of the bed and was relieved to notice the pillows had clearly been slept
on. At least he did not sleep in another room.  Her phone beeped. It was her
daily schedule, which Jeannie emailed to her every morning.  She sighed,
noticing she had another fully booked day.  It was really time to start
searching for another Orthodontic Surgeon as well as one or two additional
dentists.  They just could not manage the high demand anymore.

Half an hour
later Allison learned with a crying heart that Tiaan had already left. It was
barely seven in the morning.  He never left that early.  She had a quick
breakfast and was gathering her bags when Dolores went to call Barry.  Allison
frowned.

“Why do I need
Barry, Dolores?”

“Tiaan said he
must take you to the hospital so you could fetch your car.”

“Of course.  It completely
slipped my mind.”

Greg’s first phone call came
through just as Barry dropped Allison at her car.  She jabbed at the phone and
barked into it.

“Leave me
alone, Greg. I want nothing to do with you.”

She ended the
call immediately and got into her car.  Having to deal with Greg was not at the
top of her priority list.  However, making things right with Tiaan was and she
had no idea how.

Allison cursed
viciously when her phone beeped twice before she got to her practice.  She read
the text messages with trepidation.

Greg

“I made a mistake, Sparkles.  Please let me make it right.”

Greg

“I want you back and I am not going to give up.”

Deciding not
to respond to Greg’s constant irritation, she phoned Tiaan, but the call went
to voicemail.

The first
break Allison had in her day was when she said goodbye to her last patient.  It
was after six.  She walked to her office wearily and found two missed calls from
Tiaan.  She dialed his number and this time he answered.

“Allison,
where are you?”

“I’m still at
work.  I just finished with my last patient.  It has been a long day.  Are you at
home?”

“Yes.”

“I…ehm…am
leaving now.  Tiaan, can we please talk tonight?  I hate that you left this
morning without saying goodbye.”

“Yes, we need
to talk and Allison…do not speed.”

“I don…”   But Tiaan had already ended
the call.

Dinner was
waiting when Allison joined Tiaan on the patio by the pool.  She put her arms
around him from behind and hugged him.  He did not reciprocate so she kissed
his cheek then slipped onto the chair next to him.
