At that moment I didn’t even care if Bash and I would be over. He was a man and maybe he couldn’t slap the taste out this little heifer’s mouth but I could. Before I knew it I was flapping my feet. I walked around the bed and this little cunt didn’t move an inch. I refused to look at Bash. His eyes might make me stop and I wanted to proceed.

I had a firm grip on the bed sheet that was covering my nude body. I was only inches from her when my hand left my side and I slapped the dogshit out of Eva. She tried to claw at me but I just bobbed out the way and pushed her in the chest so hard she stumbled backwards almost falling off her feet. I pushed her again until I had her back against the wall. She barely weighed a hundred pounds and surprisingly I handled her with just one hand.

I was possessed. I grabbed her neck and she tried to pry my hands off of her neck. I waited for Bash to say stop or unhand my daughter but he never said anything. I never even heard any movement from behind me. He was still sitting up in bed.

“Your father said apologize.”

“I’m, I’m sorry.” Eva choked out her tear-filled apology. I made the little girl cry. I don’t know what got into me but this little bitch had me fucked up.

“Tell your father you’re sorry.” I ordered. I let her throat go.

She skillfully inched away from me as I dared her to defy me with my eyes. “Father, I’m sorry.” Eva ran from the room sobbing uncontrollably.

I looked over at Bash in the bed. I waited to hear his wrath and nothing happened. He just looked at me. I was ready to snap on his ass too.

“Nina, I’m sorry. I didn’t know she would be here. She never comes home this time of year. The last time I had someone look for her, she was in London. I didn’t even know she was back in the country.” Bash outstretched his hand. “Come, sit.”

I moved to the bed and took a seat at his side facing him. His watch beeped on the nightstand and so did his cell phone. He reached over for his cell.

He had a text message. He read the text to himself. He looked out at me. “Eva just texted me that she’s going to kill herself.”

“What?”

“She’s not going to kill herself. She’s an attention whore. She knows that if she does anything to hurt herself I will put her away.”

“Put her away?”

“In a mental health facility. She fears that more than anything. Well maybe she fears you more now.”

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have hit her.”

“No, don’t be sorry. She was out of line. Both of my kids are spoiled brats. Now they’re adult brats. I did a shitty job as a father. I know that but it’s too late now.”

“It’s never too late.”

“They are adults. I gave them too much. I coddled them too much. I over did it because their mother was gone. I didn’t know I was making things worse and all the therapist were trying to line their pockets so they were giving me terrible advice…Nina I come with this baggage and I don’t want it to affect us. I want you in my life. You obviously can handle my foul-mouthed daughter and you seen to get along with my ex drug addict son so please don’t runaway from me.”

“I would never do that?”

Bash raised his arms and that was my clue to snuggle up with him. I did just that. It felt heavenly in his strong arms. I loved having my face pressed against his hard chest. His cell phone buzzed. He grabbed it off the bed.

“Eva said I hate you father, in all caps, with three exclamation points.” Bash removed his hand from my waist to text her back. “Eva please calm down and take a nap. I will have Nina look in on you. I’m getting dressed.”

“Are you really texting that?”

“Yeah, I will scare her a little.” Bash tossed the cell on the bed and cupped my breast with one of his free hands. He kneaded the soft area around the nipple.

In seconds he had his dick inside me. He had pinned my arms above my head. His pelvis had me pinned down on my back. He had spread his legs to cover mine. He closed his legs together drawing mine together also. I loved when he did this. The fit was skintight. I could feel his close-cut pubic hair rub against my pussy lips. I couldn’t move my body. I had the option of squeezing him and locking him inside me. He was rocking his dick in the wet hole that only he could claim.

Pleasure escaped my lips only to be replaced with his tongue. He kissed me deep and my heart stopped and started too many times to count.

Bash was the bee’s knees. He made me love and enjoy sex. He wasn’t mechanical or performing a routine. His moves were spontaneous and orgasmic. He made my body hum. For that I would always be grateful.

He timed it just right and we came together.

This guy right here.

I love him.

CHAPTER 21

NINA

It was a little late in the day, past breakfast but not quite afternoon. It was nice outside but not hot. The temperature would eventually rise to the high eighties. That wouldn’t be until at least three. We showered together. We had a wild morning.

Bash decided we would have brunch outside on the deck. We ate in silence. I guess the return of his daughter made him quiet. We both were finished eating but we just sat quietly. I wondered if Bash remembered to wear sunblock.

“We are going strong.” He jarred me away from my random thoughts.

“Yes we are.” I wondered where he was going with this. He had a twisted look in his eye and oddly I could recognize this little trait although we hadn’t been together long.

“I have a confession to make.”

“I can’t wait to hear this.” My eyes floated up to the top of my eyelids. It was an eye roll that hadn’t completely taken form.

“For a few days now I’ve been trying to find a way to pick a fight with you.”

“Really?”

Bash smiled. My words always seemed to amuse him. “Yes. I’ve enjoyed all this time with you and I want to see you when you’re angry. I want to know how you behave in adverse situations.”

“That’s sick and twisted.” I bit my lip to suppress any rudeness that was longing to escape them.

“Maybe, I just couldn’t think of anything to fight about.”

“We could fight about this.” I didn’t know if I wanted to press my lips together or poke them out. My face was doing something ill.

“This isn’t good enough.”

“The fact that you wanted to pick a random fight with me is ridiculous. But if you want to throw some shots, you go for it.”

“It just wouldn’t be spontaneous.” He drummed his fingertips over the table. “We don’t have to fight at all. I was just curious to see what you would do. How you would behave? Do you yell and scream?”

I shrugged as I watched him intensely. This guy right here. He was a real character. I had to admit that about him. He was one of a kind. I wonder if that was why he was single? Why was he single? He was a prize considering what was out on the streets posing for good men.

“Do you throw things?” Does your Mama throw things? “Do you shout out obscenities?” Test me and see how many motherfuckers I call you. “Would you attack me?” No I can’t fight a man. I got common sense. “Would you storm out of the room?” Black women don’t storm anywhere. “Would you cry?” Not while I’m standing in front of Germantown USA. “I just don’t know what your reaction would be and I think of it from time to time.”

Bash really thought he was clever. Did he really want me to show him my hand? Did he really give this as much thought as he claims? This guy right here. I might throw him away. Nope. I think I will keep him.

“Bash, my sweet.” Sarcasm. “Every situation dictates a different response.”

“That is very true and probably why I’m so intrigued with whatever response you will have. You are a hard woman to read.”

“Stop trying to read me and just write me.”

He grinned. “I’m greedy. I want to do both.”

“You know this entire conversation is crazy right?”

“I don’t think so.” He tilted his pretty little head.

“Well Bash in my opinion, picking fights with people generally is immature.”

One side of his face smiled. “You’re right. I guess I want to find something wrong with you. It might make me feel better.”

“Better about what?” I scowled.

“Your perfection.”

“Perfect, I am not. I’m cool people but if you want to find a reason to bow out you should just say that. The games won’t be necessary. We can just call it quits.”

I’m not sure why I said that. It was always my go-to thing. Breakup with someone before they breakup with me.

“There aren’t any games. I’m not trying to bow out. I am absolutely not calling it quits. I really love you. I’m not going anywhere.” His eyes had penetrated the force field I built up when shit was getting real.

“So why fight if we don’t have anything to fight about?”

“Fine, no faux fighting. I promise.”

“You’re making promises now.”

He closed his eyes real slow and gave me a nice view of his long blonde lashes. “You know you are too good to be true.”

“I could say the same about you Mr. Vandervol.”

“Well say it. I love to hear you talk.”

“I would have thought you would be in a foul mood after the incident with your daughter. But obviously you weren’t fazed.” I reminisced in that hot sex we had just over an hour ago.

“Eva is no problem. I have learned to get use to her tantrums.”

I’m not about to get use to them. I’m not Claire Huxtable. I will Rock-a-bye her baby ass like Keisha from
New Jack City
.

“You never mentioned to me that you had a daughter.”

“I didn’t.”

“No you didn’t.”

“I never see her. This may sound bad but I don’t really know her. I wouldn’t have much to say about her. Not much comes to mind.”

“Really?”

“I told you it would sound bad.”

“There are so many things I don’t know about you.”

“Hang in there and you will know it all.”

“You want that?”

“Yes I want you.” He gazed into my eyes all dreamy and adorable.

“You are just full of charm this morning.”

“You think I’m charming?”

“A charming pain in the ass.” I smirked as he laughed out loud.

“So what are we doing this weekend?” Bash took a sip from his coffee mug and peered over at me. I loved when he talked about us as we.

“You don’t have to go into the office?”

“No, I’m free all weekend. We can do whatever you want.”

“What do you want to do?” I asked him after considering that laying in bed all weekend and fucking him might not be the best thing to do and say. Even though it was what I really wanted.

“Really? You want to know what I want to do?” His eyes narrowed. He was thinking of sex too. We are so compatible.

“Yes tell me.” I smiled. I like how he draws everything out like he’s trying to hold onto the conversation seconds longer than it has to be. I think that’s cute. It so soap opera-ish. It’s so Tyler Perry play-ish.

“I was thinking we could go to your place and pack up your clothes.”

“Huh?”

“We can move them over here to my place.”

I was stunned beyond belief. Maybe I heard him wrong. Maybe I have a ton of wax built up in my ears. Bash must have read the shock plastered all over my face.

“Would you prefer to go shopping for new clothes?” His face frowned as he tried to assess my sporadic mood.

“I don’t need new clothes.”

“Well we can just pack up all your old clothes and bring them over.”

“Why would I do that?” Huh, color me confused. I just didn’t understand what he was talking about.

“Are you going to bring clothes over to my house every single day or bring all your clothes over at once?” He said it like he was talking to a third grader or maybe I just perceived it that way.

“Are you asking me to move in?”

“Sure I guess, don’t you already live here? You’re here every day.”

What the hell? “You ask me to come here. It’s not like I just show up unannounced. You tell me to meet you here.” I had to hold onto the arms of the chair just to stop myself from leaping over the damn table.

“Yes I do ask you to be here, I pretty much demand it. You know I need to see you everyday.” He grinned across the table at me and his dimples hit me right in the middle of my forehead. Oh boy I hate when he smiles at me. No, I kind of love that.

“Well Nina.”

“Well Bash.” I half rolled my eyes. He had my blood pressure up.

“Well get your shit and hang it in the closet. You can have whatever space you need for your things. Or I could just buy you a brand new wardrobe. Whatever works for you?”

“I don’t need new clothes.”

“Most people don’t need new clothes but they buy them anyway. I haven’t seen you in the same thing twice so you obviously have a lot of clothes. You can always have more. That’s if you would like new clothes.”

Bash reached in his shirt pocket and removed a money clip. There were a few crisp new one hundred dollar bills and a lone Visa credit card. He placed the credit card on the table and put the money in the clip away. He slid the Visa card across the table and stopped it right in front of me. I tried not to look at it but I did. What could the limit be on that thing?
