I was dumbfounded. My blood saved his life.

I can now do things that were never possible before,” he said.

I remained quiet. Although I was happy to see him and to have him with me, I still had unanswered questions. “That still doesn’t explain why you let me believe you were dead. I called out to you in my dreams, pleaded for you to return to me, yet you kept yourself hidden. Why?”

I wanted you to have a chance at a normal life.” I chuckled at the thought.
A normal life, really, who was he kidding?

You and I both know my life is far from normal. I’m a werewolf, madly and desperately in love with a vampire. I could never lead a normal life, even if I tried. Why reveal yourself to me now?”

I could no longer keep away from you.” He wrapped his arms around me, bringing our bodies close together and brushing his lips gently over mine. I enjoyed the soft press and nibble of his lips.

I gasped and sunk my head against his thumping chest, “your heart’s beating!” Its rhythm was faster than normal and strong. I kept my face pressed against him listening as the pounding matched my own.

But how’s it beating?” I asked, “I thought vampire’s hearts don’t beat?”

It doesn’t,” he replied placing his hand over mine and holding it against his chest. “My heart beats because of you. I live, breathe, love because of you.”

I smiled and rubbed my cheek on his chest again. “I live, breathe, love because of you too. Promise me you’ll never leave me again.”

He cupped my face with his hand, “I promise I’m never going to leave you.”

I ran a finger along his jaw, enjoying the slight rough texture of his cold, pale skin. Staring into his lucid eyes, I studied him for a moment. The sky was turning grey and the hazy light of an approaching dawn filtered through the trees. Sun light was approaching and Adam remained still.

The sun’s rising,” I told him.

He smiled, pulled me into his arm and turned to face the slowly, rising radiance of the morning sun. “What are you doing? You’re going to die!” I shouted, trying to break free from his embrace.

Hush….” He whispered into my ear. I held him tight, scared to death that he would burst into flames are become ash in my arms.

To my surprise, the sun rose and Adam remained the same.

I was speechless and ecstatic all at once. He pulled me into his arms and kissed me. I don’t know how it was possible for him to remain in sunlight. But I knew that I would never forget that morning or the kiss---ever!

I love you,” he said.

I love you too.”

I wanted to spend eternity, loving him and only him. No matter how many lifetimes it took.
