Dear Reader,

Thank you for reading this final book in the Alaskan Bride Rush continuity,
The Lawman's Christmas Wish.
I love writing Christmas books, and I've always been fascinated with Alaska and the rugged individualists who make their home there. So, when the editors at Steeple Hill asked me to be a part of this series, I jumped at the opportunity. Now I'm a little sad to leave these characters behind. I hope you feel the same.

Like Amy and Reed and the rest of Treasure Creek, I pray this season finds you basking in the true meaning of Christmas. May hope and faith and love, and the Prince of Peace, guide you into a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year.

I love hearing from readers. You may contact me at Steeple Hill, 233 Broadway, Ste. 1001, New York, NY 10279, or through my website at www.lindagoodnight.com.

Merry Christmas!

QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION
  1. Who was your favorite character in
    The Lawman's Christmas Wish.
    Why?
  2. Describe the setting of Treasure Creek and how the rugged Alaskan terrain plays a part of the story.
  3. The spiritual message of this book is subtle. What do you think it is? Why?
  4. Though Amy James is only thirty-two, she feels responsible for the whole town. Why? Do you think she is justified in this feeling?
  5. Could or would Treasure Creek have survived without Amy's persistence? Discuss and then defend your answer.
  6. Amy receives several marriage proposals, most out of kindness to a young widow. How do you feel about marrying for reasons other than love? Compare the customs of marriage in biblical times and in other societies with that of America and others in the Western world.
  7. Amy does things out of love. Reed does them out of duty. How does this difference cause conflict between them? How does it keep them apart?
  8. Reed struggles with an overactive sense of responsibility. Do you think his father had anything to do with this? If so, what? How did his father treat him?
  9. Many people like Reed have trouble relating to God as a loving father, and instead see God as an angry or indifferent judge. Which way do you view God? What does Jesus teach about who God is?
  10. Both Amy and Reed must change in order to find each other. How does each change? Who changes the most?
  11. Dexter and Sammy, Amy's sons, grieve for their dead father. Reed suggests they hang a Christmas stocking for him and put their love in it. Do you think he handled the situation properly? Can you think of other ways to help a grieving child at Christmas?
  12. Mack Tanner's treasure chest at first appears to contain only a letter. How did you feel about that discovery? Were you disappointed, as some of the townspeople were? Which treasure do you think was best? The love and commitment of the town working together? Or the oil-rich land deed?
  13. Was there any part of the story you would change if you could? If so, what was it and how would you change it?
  14. Delilah Carrington came to Treasure Creek as a shallow husband hunter. How did she change? What changed her? Do you think she is mature enough in the end to make a lasting marriage with Ronald?
  15. In the beginning of the book, Reed is sometimes gruff and short with Amy. Why do you think he behaves this way? Do you think he's always cared for her? Or is the emotion new and uncomfortable?

Special thanks and acknowledgment to Linda Goodnight for her contribution to the Alaskan Bride Rush miniseries.
