‘You love me…' she echoed, still trying to absorb the astonishing things he'd said. ‘But why,' she demanded with a groan, ‘didn't you tell me? I've been so miserable.'

‘Coping with the pregnancy alone?'

‘No, sleeping alone, stupid!' she told him lovingly. Clearly he was going to need it spelling out. Her voice dropped a husky octave. ‘I love you,' she spelt out, looking up at her incredibly gorgeous husband with shining eyes. ‘That's why I let Caitlin bring me here. I decided I had to tell you, but I chickened out at the last minute,' she admitted. ‘Because I thought you only wanted to marry me for the baby.'

Nikos's eyes blazed like beacons of love. ‘The baby is a bonus,' he said huskily as he gathered her into his arms.

Katie threw him a sultry smile. ‘You know, I never did get any lunch.'

‘And you are hungry?'

‘Always when I look at you,' she admitted simply.

The wedding went like a dream and Nikos had promised her the honeymoon would be even better. Katie, who had learnt her husband always delivered on his promises, saw no reason to disbelieve him.

Katie was sitting wrapped in a golden glow of contentment and not much else besides a few scraps of lace, her wedding gown lying on the bed beside her, when Nikos walked in.

‘You make a very provocative picture.'

‘Want to do something about it?' she asked with a saucy
smile. Before he could reply she saw the gift-wrapped parcel in his hand. ‘A wedding present?'

Nikos nodded. ‘From me to you,' he said, handing it to her.

‘Why, thank you.' She smiled, tearing the wrapping paper.

Nikos watched her enthusiasm with a proud, tender smile. ‘I hope you like it.'

Katie had revealed a leather-bound book. It lay on her knee for a moment before she opened it. ‘This is…' Her entire body stiffened as she saw what lay within. She raised tear-filled eyes to Nikos's face before returning eagerly to the contents of the book.

She cried out in wonder every so often as she pored over the pages and by the time she finished she was openly sobbing.

She placed the leather-bound volume reverently down on the bed and ran across to her husband, who folded her in a rib-cracking embrace.

‘I thought I'd lost them for ever. I don't know how you did it…' she sniffed emotionally ‘…but thank you, a million times thank you.'

‘It wasn't so hard,' he insisted modestly. ‘I contacted friends, the local newspaper had some of Petros when he was swimming competitively, but it was Vasilis who really helped. Your mother had sent him a number of snaps of you and Petros over the years and he had lots of snaps of your mother when she was young.'

‘Yes, I've not seen some of them before.' She touched the side of his face with her hand. ‘You do know that you are a lovely,
lovely
man, don't you?'

‘Shall we keep that between you and me? It is not an asset in the business world for it to be known one has a heart.'

‘Nobody needs to know what goes on behind closed doors…' she agreed huskily.

His eyebrows lifted. ‘That then leaves us free to do…?'

‘Almost anything we want,' Katie completed smoothly.

‘Got any ideas?'

‘Well, actually…' Katie began. Her eyes twinkled. ‘Can I whisper this?'

Nikos obligingly bent his head. ‘You know something,' he said when she had finished. ‘You are a very bad woman.'

‘No, I'm
your
very bad woman. For better—' she sighed happily, tugging at his tie ‘—or worse.'

Leaving aside the worse part, Katie didn't think it could get much better than being married to Nikos. And as she took him by the hand and led him to the bed she told him so.
