Some say that writing is a lonely task, but that couldn’t be
further from the truth. Not only did I experience overflowing love and support
from my friends and family during the launch of
The Summer Solstice: Enchanted
, but the book community as a whole;
readers, fellow authors, bloggers, and acquaintances met through social media,
have provided me with more encouragement and guidance than I can ever repay. I
am extremely proud to be part of the author community, where we all lift each
other up in support of the bigger picture—getting our books in front of
readers and entertaining them through our words.

There are so many people that I want to
thank for providing me with a sense of family in the book world, because with
them, I am stronger, and without them, writing
would
be a lonely task.

First and foremost, my abundant love (and
all of my money) goes to my son, Jagger. With him, I am more successful at life
because I want him to see that anything is possible. To be young and
imaginative is essential and practically impossible to avoid, but to grow older
and hold on to some of that optimism and continue to be inspired, is
courageous, for too many fear the world and its obstacles without ever truly
experiencing life.

Second, to my parents who are beyond
supportive in everything I do. A special shout out to my mom who is always
willing to be my first reader. Thank you for your honest criticisms and for helping
me find the inconsistencies that are so hard to see after staring at the book
for six months. Without you there would be alligators where they shouldn’t be
and more rippling muscles than any reader can stand.

To T.R. who encouraged me to get my books
out there and publish them
immediately
.
I didn’t realize how much fun this entire process could actually be. So thank
you for being supportive of my obsession; I’m sure you’re sick of hearing about
my book world by now, but I appreciate you listening anyway.

Immediately after releasing
The Summer Solstice: Enchanted
I met a
group of fellow writers who gave me some of the best feedback I could ask for.
They helped me not only improve my writing, but have offered support throughout
the entire process. Richard Duerden, my eternal gratitude to you, and your
graciousness in providing editing to a young author. It was you who boosted my
confidence at a time I needed it desperately. Muah!

To some very special advanced readers who
gladly offered to give
The Equinox
a
first read, THANK YOU so much. Louise and Joy…your time and feedback given will
never be forgotten. I hope I can repay you the same favor some day.

What would book sales be without
networking and marketing? One of my favorite parts of being an author is
meeting new people—and I’ve met MOST of these amazing people through
social media. When I started, I was clueless and fumbling around social media
trying—unsuccessfully, to make connections and creating visibility for
The Summer Solstice: Enchanted
. The
outpouring of support to a new author was beyond incredible and in a short time
I felt confident in my efforts. This shout out goes to all of the people I have
met along the way that have embraced and encouraged me in some way, with a
special thanks to Lilo Abernathy, Marketing Ninja (and awesome author)!

To my book cover designer, Mirella
Santana. I’m so happy to have met you. Thank you for your fantastic visions
and—well basically, for putting up with me and my creative direction. You
always give me a product that I’m proud to show off to the world.

I’m
saving the best for last—don’t worry!

To my READERS! You’ve blown me away with
your love for Kat, Rose, Charlotte, Alec, and the entire Summer Solstice story.
I’m so happy that I can share these characters with you and I can’t wait to
take you on this next adventure with me as we explore more of Apollo Beach and
life as an enchanter.

Happy Reading to all!

Much Love,

K.K. Allen
