“Law!” Declan’s voice was hoarse, but he didn’t care. The feel of Law inside of him, of them being tied together, sent heat sailing through him, and he tumbled over the edge without another thought.

Declan wasn’t sure how much time had passed when he finally came back to himself. Law’s strong, solid body was a line of heat against Declan’s back as the alpha nuzzled the bite mark on Declan’s skin contentedly. That was one mark that wouldn’t fade, one thing that his healing wouldn’t take care of. A mating mark stayed no matter what. The thought of having something like that, of having something to commemorate this moment for the rest of his life, made Declan’s breath catch in his chest.

“I want one too, you know. Later when there’s time I want you to put your mark on me too,” Law whispered against the skin he was so fascinated with. He sounded sleepy and content, and Declan found that he felt the same way even as happiness burst to life inside his chest.

He belonged to Law now, belonged
with
Law. He was marked for the world to see and Law, Law wanted to be marked as well. Law wanted the entire world to know that they belonged to each other. Just then a thought struck Declan.

“Lachlan knew, you know? He knew this would happen. He always called you
my
alpha, like you belonged to me, like this was inevitable.” Declan reached down and tangled his fingers with the ones Law had lightly stroking the skin of his stomach.

“Hmm. Your brother’s a smart one. I can’t wait to meet him,”

Law responded lazily.

Declan yawned loudly and snuggled back into Law’s heat.

“You say that now, but he’s going to be insufferable when he finds out that we’ve mated without you two even meeting. I’m not going to hear the end of it when he gets home.”

Declan felt Law tense behind him, and then the alpha took a deep breath and
melted
against Declan’s back.

“You said home,” he muttered against the skin of Declan’s neck.

“Hmm?” Declan made a questioning noise, sleep creeping up on him.

“You said ‘when he gets home’. You called this home.” Law sounded so happy, so pleased with such a simple statement that Declan couldn’t help but laugh lowly.

“I did, didn’t I? It’s true though. This is … this is home. Here with you and Trace and soon enough with Lach as well. I don’t think I could ever find a better one.” It was true. He’d found a home without meaning to, had found a home and a mate. Love and safety. Two things Declan had never thought he’d have in his life.

“We’re going to be so good together, little wolf. So good.”

Law nudged at the place behind Declan’s ear with his nose, made a pleased noise and then buried his face in Declan’s hair.

Declan smiled and silently agreed with him. There were still things to work out, of course. Lachlan would be in the territory in a few hours, would be at the house a few after that. There were introductions and all kinds of other things to deal with, but for once in his life Declan wasn’t worried.

He was safe and warm in the arms of an alpha who wanted him despite everything, and there was no other place he’d rather be.
