Meanwhile, out at sea the storm was picking up
energy as it meandered towards the Florida Keys. It has been said
that hurricanes followed their own path, and danced their own
dance. Forecasters could generally pick a direction, but the storm
traveled forward, retreated, or sat still, gathering strength until
it decided to strike land. This particular storm appears to have
been stalled about three miles off the Florida coast. It appears to
be bidding its time, gathering force so that when it hits land,
it'll destroy everything that gets in its way.

Joy sat alone on the upper deck sipping her
drink, looking out into a starless, moonless night with the sea
beginning to stir and churn out huge waves.

On the deck, the weather was breezy, windy but
thankfully, dry. It seems that all of the air's moisture was being
sucked into the developing maelstrom off the coast. Joy's mind was
starting to relax as she sipped the strong beverage she had with
her. Thoughts and emotions shifted within her. In the end, she
realized that she was tired from her boring shift, tired of
fighting with Brian, and tired of pretending that she was
happy.

Her thoughts slipped back to that time in
college that while drunk she had allowed another girl to touch her.
Only when she saw the experience in her mind's eye did she realize
that this time, it was with Stormy, not her college roommate, that
she fantasize about. In her fantasy, she didn't stop Stormy as her
hand undid the snaps of her dark, DKNY jeans and felt her fingers
slid stealthily down her abdomen and linger on the little pubic
hairs she let grow there after a few weeks' worth of deciding
against shaving. Part of her entire being sensed the pleasure that
patiently waited just an inch or two away. The expectation was
almost unbearable -- it filled her, gradually, the experience
ebbing and flowing within her - causing her vaginal lining to
secrete pre-cum. Her breaths started to come in faster, shorter
bursts as suddenly, her the lustful thoughts were interrupted by a
voice.

"Pick a card, any card!" Frank's booming voice
commanded her. Joy's attention was brought back to the present and
she realized that Frank was standing in front of her. To her, at
six foot six and a showman, Frank appears bigger than life. His
physical presence usually caused another person's attention to be
diverted to it, long enough for him to carry on with his illusions
and perform the tricks successfully, she realized.

She surmised that perhaps Frank used his size
and boisterous persona to cover a painfully shy interior. And as
long as he could be the showman, no one could ever know, or judge,
the private Frank.

"Are you worried about the storm? It may not
even hit us."

"Frank, hey, how the hell are you? Joy recovered
and tried to pick up on conversation. "What do you mean may not hit
us? Look out there! It's right there fucking with us, waiting until
we feel safe and BAM!, it'll hit us."

"In 1987 hurricane 'Alan' stayed just where this
storm is. We all got crazy-hyped and fed into the hysteria. Home
Depot sold most of its stocks and the town became a ghost town.
Everyone left town except the homeless, hard core drunks and salt
water conchs. It was dead here in Key West for two whole days while
we waited, sure that it'll hit us. But on the third day, the day
storm just turned off-course and went into the gulf and then headed
north. Finally hit somewhere in Alabama, I think."

"So nothing happened? No one got hurt?" Joy
asked.

"Just a fishing charter got stuck out in the
storm. They took on water and everyone drowned."

Frank immediately remembered what Joy's
boyfriend did for a living and would have sucked the words he had
just said back into his mouth if he could. "Oh, I'm so sorry Joy.
I'm so stupid."

Frank picked her up from sitting into a huge
bear hug and felt genuinely like crap at his insensitivity.

Stormy was managing the stairs to say goodnight
and maybe to try one more time to get with Joy. She paused for
awhile and held herself back when she saw the big showman talking
with her. When she saw Frank gather Joy into his arms in what
appeared to be an emotional embrace she turned back down the stairs
to leave without saying anything. She passed Eric on the stairs.
She smiled but continued on down.

"Am I interrupting anything?" Eric asked. He had
come up to check on Joy and saw the emotional embrace between the
two.

Without releasing Joy Frank responded "I wish
bro, can't tell you how much I wish!"

Frank released Joy who was beginning to feel the
Fireball's effect a little bit and fell into Frank. She wrapped her
left arm around him, and reaching out with her right arm, and
shouting, "Group hug!"

Frank smiled and said "sandwich" reaching out
and pulling Eric into the embrace. For a few seconds the three
friends held on to each other in untethered trust.

When they released each other Eric asked "So
what's the plan guys? What is everyone doing tonight?"

The guys both looked at Joy, who responded "I'm
going to have another drink or three, and then go home and wait for
Brian."

Eric said "Well, I guess there's no reason to
close down as long as we're still here. Maybe some of the locals
will still come here to weather the storm."

Frank smiled at his friends and co-workers and
said "I never let a pretty lady drink alone, I'm in."

Eric asked "Did you mean her... or me?"

"Fuck you!" laughed Frank as the three went down
the stairs to the main bar to get their drinks.

"Anyone else here?" asked Joy.

Eric replied "No, Stormy just left. We've just
been picking up and battening down shit."

Both Frank and Joy sat at separate bar stools by
the bar looking out onto the bleak, furious sea beyond. Eric,
standing inside the front of the bar, minded the drinks, and poured
for all of them. He made shooters and Jaegger Bombs.

In no time, all three were happily drunk,
laughing, and seemingly oblivious to the potential danger from the
storm just outside.

Joy felt that when Mother Nature decides to
exert her considerable influence on humanity, what more is there to
do but to submit? And submit is exactly what they were doing. For
all she knows, a tornado could come and sweep them all away to the
land of Oz and still they would still laugh, talked shit about the
place's owner and tell jokes. Hurricane "Anne" or whatever the hell
this first storm of the season was called was pushed to the very
back of their minds. For now, there were only each other, the
laughter, and their drinks.

Later, and at home, she laid in the bed for what
seemed like an eternity. The wind had picked up outside and the
storm seemed to be really close by. She remembers Brian calling and
saying he was coming, and that he was safe and on land. He mentions
he was coming straight from the boat, but it feels like it had been
an hour at least since the call.

In reality, though, it had been only ten minutes
at the most.

When at last she heard the door knob turning,
her heart started to beat furiously. She stayed where she was,
near-naked, ready, and she stifled the impulse to call his name. As
the door to the bedroom creaked open, slowly, she turned onto her
side away from the light in the hallway. She thought to let Brian
think she didn't care for his absence. As soon as he came to her,
though, that facade was shattered. She rolled towards him grasping
his torso with her arms and legs and drew him in towards her.

"I was so worried" she whispered.

He smelled of fish and body odor from days at
sea without washing himself. She loved this scent of his raw being.
She clawed at his ragged, sweaty shirt, pulling it away to reveal a
rock hard, chiseled chest. Her hands massaged his upper torso as
she inhaled the scent of primeval pheromones. Her own body
responded with fluids and sensations stimulated by the most basic
instincts of humanity.

As he ran his large, strong, calloused hands
along her lithe young body, he felt his body responding. Despite
the mental and physical exhaustion from being at sea in the
developing hurricane, the physical sensations from her young
athletic body, firm smallish breasts with nipples as hard as
pebbles and flat stomach commanded his manhood's attention.

"I should go, I need a shower and some sleep" he
said unconvincingly, and didn't make a move to leave.

"You're not going anywhere," she said as she
aggressively unzipped his pants and started yanking them down,
freeing his now fully erect member.

She took his penis into her mouth, tasting the
salty residue from the sea. He groaned and mumbled an
unintelligible protest that didn't sound at all convincing as she
slowly took as much of his sizable manhood as she could without
choking. She gently pulled back his foreskin to expose the
sensitive underside of his penis. With little licks to that
sensitive spot just under the head of his dick, his size grew
again, straining the skin. His little protests stopped and he
submitted to her oral teasing.

She pulled out the condom hidden under the
pillows and stretched it onto his swollen manhood. With him lying
on his back, she straddled his pelvis inserting his impressive
erection into her wet and ready cunt.

Outside the storm was gathering strength and
moving inland. Thunder and lightning accentuated the howling wind
that whipped the palm trees, bending and snapping branches. Rain,
sand, debris and pure energy was assaulting the land mass of Key
West. Inside, another type of storm was peaking until unable to be
contained, exploded in orgasmic furor. The unbridled screams of her
ecstasy were lost in the raging loudness of the storm outside.
Afterwards they both fell asleep immediately, with him still in
her.

In the morning, Stormy was alone. Sometime
during the night Brian had gotten up and left, but that was okay,
he had come to her first. She smiled thinking that he had come in
her first.

When Brian had gotten home in the midst of the
storm, he found Joy passed out on the couch. A thin string of
spittle ran from the corner of her mouth to the pillow cushion she
had laid her head upon. He smiled and was happy they didn't have to
fight right then, that, he knew, would come tomorrow. He slipped
off his clothes placing them into the hamper and took a long,
relaxing shower. After, he returned to Joy and lifted her up,
carrying her into the bedroom. She never awoke. He settled next to
her and fell asleep confident he had gotten away with yet another
indiscretion, happy to just rest and sleep in his own bed.

The next day when they both woke up, Joy was so
happy he was safe and Brian so happy he hadn't been caught. There
was no fighting at all. Even with a splitting headache from her
hang over, she had made tender lovemaking with her man back from
the sea. After Brian had left to go see what damage had occurred to
the boat, Joy decided to do laundry. As she picked up Brian's shirt
she brought it to her face and buried her nose into the rank smells
of her man's scent. In addition to the pungent odors of man sweat,
salt water, fish and smoke she thought she detected the faint odor
of something else.

She couldn't be sure, but it almost reminded
her of Patchouli.

Chapter Two
"J
OY, WHAT'S THE MATTER?"
Eric was being his usual caring self.

"Nothing. Brian's not answering his phone. I've
texted and called, but I'm directed straight to his voice
mail."

"Is he out fishing?"

"No, the boat needs some repair after the storm
so everyone's dry docked for a few days. He's just been acting so
weird lately."

"What do you think is going on?" Eric sensed he
knew what Joy was worried about, but waited to hear it from
her.

"Oh, probably nothing. I think he got a little
freaked out with the storm but his macho image won't let him admit
it." Joy didn't sound convincing at all.

"Okay, let me know if you need anything." Eric
responded, looking directly into her eyes. "I'm always here for
you, you know that right?"

God she loved this man. She hoped his boyfriend
Bill knew what a good guy he had. "Hey Eric, is Stormy working
today?"

"Later, in at five."

"Okay, thanks. Got a new one, gotta go." Joy had
noticed a single guy had sat in her section. "Hope he speaks
English and knows how to tip" she laughed. Even her laugh wasn't
convincing.

"Hello, welcome to Schooner Wharf, my name is
Joy, can I get you something to drink?" Joy gave the required
greeting as she placed a menu and wrapped silverware in front of
the guy.

"Well God has heard my prayers and brought Joy
into my life" the big man responded with a deep southern drawl and
a bigger smile revealing almost perfect teeth. "Do y'all have sweet
tea?" Just the way he enunciated "sweat tea" told Joy this man was
indeed from the south.

"Let me guess" answered Joy,
"Alabama?"

"No Ma'am, but you're real close, Georgia.
Little itty bitty town called Marlborough, on the Alabama boarder
though, so you were real close." He flashed her a big smile. She
notices how perfect his teeth seemed. "And you? You from here?"

Joy smiled back, growing just a little
self-conscious about her own imperfect teeth. "No, not originally.
I was born in New York, but I'm a fresh water conch."

"Pardon. Ma'am? What's a
'fresh water
conch'?"

"Oh, that's someone who wasn't born here but has
lived here a while."

"So what do they call someone who was born
here?" the man asked, with honest interest.

"A salt water conch." Joy responded with her own
beautiful smile.

The man visibly blushed and looking down said
"well ain't I a Coon's Ass and just plain old stupid, that sure
makes sense. Can I ask one more stupid question?"
