“Who was that?”

This was another first for Damian. He’d never felt anything like
what he was feeling at that moment, as he stared at her, his heart pounding as
it always did when he was around her, but for an altogether different reason
now. It had actually been a chore to refrain from cussing and asking her who
the fuck was that on the phone. “That was Simon,” she said, as if it were
nothing. That only spiked the annoyance that had already boiled over and was
reaching a new height. He wouldn’t even attempt to hide what he was feeling now.

“What’s he looking forward to tonight?”

“Seeing me.” She said it so calmly, it gave him hope this was a
complete misunderstanding.

Still, he fisted his hands tightly, trying to remain as calm as
she was. “Seeing you?” He lifted both brows, unable to hide the anger now. “You’re
gonna see him tonight?”

She nodded, touching his face softly. “What’s wrong with you?”

While her touch did calm him a little, it wasn’t nearly enough.
“What do you mean what’s wrong with me? You’re gonna go see this guy tonight,
and he’s looking forward to it? And so are you?” Then it hit him. “You told him
you were working. Why?”

Pinching her brows together to think about it, she tilted her
head. Damian took a few steps back—away from her. As cute as he normally
thought it when she did that, right now he was too damn pissed to appreciate
it.

“No.” She cleared her throat. “He asked why I said it’d be better
if we talked tonight instead of now, and I told him I was working tonight.”

“You’re lying,” he snapped.

Never had he been so sure about anything in his life. Every word she’d
just said to him had been insincere.

Acknowledgments

As always, I have to start by thanking my immediate family:
Mark, Marky, and Megan. You three are my world, and I thank you for your
understanding, and after fifteen books you really get it. Mom’s not just
sitting in her room in her pajamas all day. She’s WORKING! <3

To my beta readers, Dawn Winter, Judy DeVries, Emily Lamphear,
and my
comadre
Inez Sandoval, as usual, I count so much on you guys for
your valued opinions. This was another tough one. Novellas always are for me.
But as usual, you guys came through, and let’s hope the readers enjoy! *fingers
crossed!* As always, I truly appreciate the dedication and the time you take to
provide me with your feedback and take on my stories. Can’t wait to get the
next one out to you guys!

As always, I’d also like to thank the many bloggers out there
who have supported me and have pimped, reviewed, and participated with my cover
reveals and announcements. You guys have been a HUGE part of my success, and I
thank every single one of you from the bottom of my heart! A special shout out
to Ing Cruz of
As the Pages Turn
for volunteering to take on the task of putting the blog tour for Felix
together AND helping to promote Tangled’s release. I can’t thank you enough!

Thank you to
Theresa (Eagle Eyes) Wegand
, my one-stop
superhero beta reader/editor/formatter, listener to all my whiny rants/vents
and obsessive worrying, and friend. As always, your work is impeccable, and I
can’t say enough about it. I hope to be working with you for years to come!
Thank you so much!

I want to give a special shout out to “my FP girls,” my
incredibly talented group of superstar authors. I’ve said it before and can’t
say it enough I’m very blessed to have met you all and I’m so glad that we’ve
stuck it out all these years. Some days I don’t know how I’d make it without
you wonderful ladies! Here’s to many more!

I’d also like to thank my cover artist, Amanda Simpson at
Pixel Mischief
Design
. Felix was probably my favorite cover of all time, but
Tangled is a close second. So sexy, so playful, so intense, so Romero! You
nailed it!  Thank you, you’ve been awesome, and your work speaks for itself. I’m
so excited about working with you on future projects!

A big shout-out goes to my good friend, Jamie Salsbury, for
introducing me to my new cover artist. Also for being such a good
friend/cheerleader and listening to all my head banging and whining about
writing blurbs among other things! ;)

Thank you to all my readers! Without your continued support and
enthusiasm, none of this could be possible. When I write novellas about
previous characters, I get very excited because the whole time I’m thinking of
you guys! You are the ones who make me LOVE my career!

Last but certainly not least, thank you to my “Royals” on Team
Reyes. My little Street Team and cheering squad! Every day I peek in to see
what you guys are all chatting about, and there is always so much love and
excitement I have no idea how I got so lucky! Last I checked there are close to
400 and counting! The future excites me!
