We both freeze when the sounds of crashing wood and metal fill the room, and my heart starts pounding out of control once again. Ridge pulls himself from me, righting his clothes and looking around the room for something. I scurry from the bed, trying to find something to cover myself with. I feel their cum drain out of me when I stand, coating my thighs.
“I hope you’re on the pill, baby,”
whispers through my mind.
Ridge’s eyes are on the door that’s starting to give way, but Hudson stares at me. “Clothes on, Doc,” he says, before turning his attention back to Ridge. “This is it, and don’t fucking forget this one is mine.”
“
Bullshit, you had the last two,” Ridge snaps.
“
Come on, this is the last one. Don’t be a mean bastard, I need this. Plus, you got to slide into the Doc first,” Hudson says, motioning towards me.
They both just stare at each other for a few beats, then start playing what looks like a paper rock scissors game. They’re clearly fucking crazy.
“
Doc, I said clothes,” Hudson barks at me again, but the door finally gives way, flooding the room with men wearing riot gear.
I expect them to fight or to lash out in some way. Instead, both of them drop to their knees, putting their hands behind their heads while looking right at me. From their size, I’m sure they could take out a few. They’re both huge. Even on their knees, they still look intimidating.
“
They raped me,” I whisper, as if it isn’t obvious, and everyone looks at me.
“
You dumb fucks. You fucking raped the warden’s girlfriend? Do you want to die?” one of the guards says.
I need to get out of here. I need to get to a hospital.
“
We were doing the warden a favor, breaking her in for him. From the feel of her pussy, I could tell no one’s been in there for a while.”
I gasp at his crude words. I’m not sure why I’m shocked—it’s probably the tamest thing Ridge has said since he entered this room.
“
Get her out of here,” another guard says. One of them lifts me into his arms, and I cringe again because I’m still completely naked.
“
Put her down,” Hudson says, starting rise, but before he can get to his feet, he takes a baton to the back.
“
Don’t fucking touch her,” growls Ridge, almost in unison as he tries to get up and lash out too.
The room breaks out in chaos, but the man who has me in his arms pulls me closer to his body. He pushes through the fight, and escapes the room into the cold concrete hallway.
“
Take them to the warden,” I hear the guard bellow, echoing down the halls.
“
It’s okay, Doc, we have an ambulance on the way.”
CHAPTER FIVE
RIDGE
The dirty, hard, concrete floor is starting to wear on my knees. Both Hudson and I are in solitary confinement, the warden standing over us. I’m not sure what he plans, but I have a good idea it ends with both Hudson and me dead. What he doesn’t know is the only one who’s going to die is him. I’m just not sure how I want to do it. Do I wrap my hands around his throat and let the life drain from his eyes? Or do I make it swift and merely snap his neck?
The cocky fuck thinks he’s fine alone with us, our hands bound behind our backs with cuffs that I unlocked moments ago. Our escape plan is working perfectly, with only a few small details to wrap up.
The warden lands another blow to Hudson’s face but he barely moves. If he thinks he could beat us to death, this would take all fucking night. Doc Charlotte had more fight in her than the warden does.
“
I think you’d be a little more appreciative that I loosened her up for you. Or are you just mad I got a taste first?” Hudson says, baiting him. We want to draw him close, but I might snap sooner if I hear another reminder of how he’s been sweet on the Doc.
The warden’s lips tighten, “Hope it was worth it because you’re going to die in this room tonight.”
I laugh a little. “Now I know you never had her because if you had, you’d know it was worth every second. I can still taste her.” My words finally get the reaction I want as he lunges at me.
Releasing my hands from behind my back, I grab him by the throat, turning into him, and bringing him down so I land on top of him. With one hard jerk I slam his head against the unforgiving floor, the crunch of bone sounding in the room, blood spilling onto the floor, making a dark red puddle.
“
God damn. That was my kill,” Hudson says, still jerking at his cuffs as they finally clatter to the floor.
“
What did you expect ? I saw you over there fucking with your cuffs. What took you so long to get them undone? Losing your touch?” I tease.
“
I don’t know. Maybe it was the five blows I took baiting him before you even opened your fucking mouth.”
I feel a smirk play across my lips. Yeah, I might have done that on purpose. Knowing Hudson, I knew he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from running his mouth, and I knew I could steal the kill from him.
Grabbing the warden’s arm, I check the time on his watch. “We’ve got to move. We gotta get out of this place, and still have a two mile run to our ride,” I say, grabbing the warden’s baton and handing it to Ridge. “We go dark in ten.”
Using the warden’s keys, I pop the lock to the room, but only pull the door open a crack. And just like we planned, everything goes black.
Freedom.
CHAPTER SIX
CHARLOTTE
I feel like my toes are falling asleep because I’ve been sitting here so long. As I wiggle my toes to try to wake them, the doctor finally enters the room.
“
Can I leave now?” I ask before he has a chance to say anything. I just need to get out of here. Like, now. I try not to fidget nervously, but I’m anxious to leave, and I can barely help myself. I need to move and I feel like the longer I sit here, the more danger I’m in.
“
Everything on the rape kit came back negative for STDs but, being a physician, you know we can’t tell about the possibility of a pregnancy for a few weeks,” he says, ignoring my question.
I nod my head and look out the window, wondering how much longer I have to be here.
“
You’re clear to go now. Do you have someone coming to pick you up? Maybe there’s someone we can call?”
“
No,” I say quietly, and the doctor looks at me sympathetically. As he opens his mouth to speak again, there’s a light knock on the door and two guards enter. I recognize one as the guard who carried me out to the ambulance but I don’t recognize the other.
I start to shake, wondering what’s happening. They must see the look of terror on my face, because they don’t approach me. They just stand near the door, looking at me like I’m a deer they are trying not to spook.
“
Dr. Fisher, we need to speak with you for a few moments if you’re up to it,” the stocky guard I don’t recognize says.
“
Sure, but I’m really ready to get out of here, and I’m sure you can understand my need for privacy right now.” I don’t want to answer any of their questions. I just want distance from all of this.
“
We do. We’ve already got your report of the incident, and we...” he pauses before saying what I know what’s coming, “...have video to corroborate your story.”
I feel an angry rage come over me as I think about someone watching the tapes, seeing me like that, but I clench my jaw, not letting it show. They’ve already seen too much.
After a moment of silence he continues. “We wanted to make sure you had a safe place to stay for a while.”
“
My family has some land upstate and I’m going to go there for a while. I don’t know why I thought I could work in a prison, it was a mistake. Under the circumstances, you can take this as my notice I won’t be returning.”
“
We completely understand.” He looks to the other guard and takes a deep breath. “Ma’am, we don’t want to upset you, but we thought you should know that the prisoners murdered the warden. And they have escaped.”
I feel my heart beating out of my chest at his words, and I try and get my breathing under control. “Oh God,” I whisper.
“
We don’t have any reason to believe they’re after you. You were just a tragic casualty in their escape plan.”
I nod my head and put my face in my hands.
“
We’ve gotten several reports they’re headed deep into hiding somewhere in Mexico. We just wanted you to be aware of the situation before you saw it on the news. We also wanted to offer our condolences on the warden’s passing. We know how much you meant to each other.”
With my face still in my hands, I just nod again. What else can I do? My heart is beating out of my chest and I just need to get out of here.
“
Just try to find a safe place to stay for a while as a precaution. Also, be sure to give us a forwarding address so we can be in touch.”
I hear the guards exit the room. After the doctor hands me some prescriptions for pain, he tells me I’m good to go, leaving the room as well.
I stand up and make sure my legs can hold me as I leave the hospital. I can’t hear a thought in my head over the sound of my own heartbeat.
Later that night…
The hours of driving have calmed me down. Every mile I drove away from the prison and away from what happened, I’ve breathed easier, like a weight being lifted off me.
I don’t trust anyone, and saying my family “has some land upstate” is as close as I was getting to telling anyone where I was going. I didn’t leave a forwarding address, and I threw my phone in the trash outside the hospital. I can’t take the risk of anyone tracking me, and using my fear is the only way I’ll get through this.
When I said I had family land, what I actually meant is I had a distant cousin by marriage who liked to gamble and lost this land to a hunting buddy in a poker game decades ago. After the hunting buddy died, I got in touch with his daughter, and she practically threw it at me, not wanting the property. I said I’d pay the taxes if it stayed in her name, and she let me use it when I needed a weekend away.
Pulling up to the cabin, I turn off the car and grab my bag out of the back. I went to my apartment and got a few things, leaving behind what I didn’t want. I have a feeling someone will be going there to check on me, and I have no plans of ever returning. I’ll never go back to that place.
I step out of the car and look around. There’s nothing but miles and miles of woods surrounding the place. You could fire a gun a hundred times and no one would ever hear you to call the cops.
“
Looks like this is home for next few weeks,” I say to myself as I walk up the steps, the old wooden boards creaking under my feet.
Once inside, I look around the place and check to make sure everything works. The cabin is basic, with only one bedroom, a bathroom, a small kitchen and living space, but that’s all I need. I stopped a few hours ago and got food and supplies, using cash to purchase everything. I know I’m being paranoid, but I can’t be too careful. I knew this was a possibility when I started working at the prison and I had to have a plan.
After I get everything unloaded from the car and get something to eat, I’m exhausted. It’s been the longest day of my life and oddly enough sleeps comes easy. So easy, I never heard them coming.
CHAPTER SEVEN
HUDSON
Before she can make a noise, I lunge on the bed and put my hand over her mouth. “Thought you could get away so easy, didn’t you, Doc?”
I feel her hands come up to my sides, but Ridge is there, grabbing them and tying them to the headboard. I feel like a giant weight has been lifted off my shoulders having her back in our hands. Now we have all the time we could ever want. No interruptions.
“
Now the real fun begins,” he says,, passing me the gag for her mouth.
“
It’s not that we don’t want to hear you talk,” I say, as she starts to struggle against the gag. “It’s just that we can’t focus on anything but fucking you right now, so we need you to keep quiet.”
