I hope you take the time to listen to the songs I listened to while writing Treston and Zara's story. Each song holds special meaning demonstrating the roller coaster of these two people who try to find their place in the world and within each other.

CHAPTER 1

TRESTON

“TRESTON! COME AND CATCH ME!”

I watch her running through the yard, turning her head to face me. I love everything about her. She’s the strongest person I know. Even when she’s in pain, she’s smiling and telling me everything will be okay.

The sun’s shining directly on her face and she looks like an angel. For the little time she has I’m able to give her what she wants. I’m able to take her away from the hospitals and doctors so she can be free like she is now.

“Wait,” I laugh, putting down my lacrosse stick and chasing her. We’ve been at the lake house for a few weeks and things feel great. Each day with her has been incredible and I’m holding on to this time as much as I can. “Babe, slow down.” When she comes to an instant stop, my heart drops and I sprint to her. Touching her shoulder, I walk in front of her and look at her. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah,” she smiles, “I love being here with you. Better than the hospitals or my house.” Wrapping her tiny arms around my waist, she lets out a sigh and rests her head on my chest. “Thank you for bringing me out here. I know it’s hard for you to accept my reasons, but thank you.”

My heart breaks. She’s right. I don’t understand her reasons and I’ve been going back and forth, wondering if I’m making the right decision. She's been the most important person in my life for so long. I don't know what it'll be like without her. How can I go on when we say our last goodbye?

"Stop thinking," she tells me, "Everything's going to be okay. I'm spending my last moments here with you and that's all I want. It's all I've ever wanted."

I jerk awake, looking around my dark room, reminding myself I'm alone. Drops of sweat roll down my face and my breathing grows rapid. I blink a few times and lay back down on my bed.

"It's okay," I mumble, "It's okay."

I'm at school and she's not here. She'll never be near me again.

The next afternoon, after another killer session, I hop in the shower and wash away the dirt, hoping to relax my muscles. Shutting off the water, I grab the towel and open the curtains, only to find Amy Marchner sitting on the counter and looking sexy as hell.

"This is a nice surprise," I smirk, getting out of the shower and leaning against the wall. Crossing my arms, my eyes look down her body, appreciating her lacy bra and pink boy shorts.

"Well, I missed you this summer." She gets up and traces her fingers along my waist, seductively licking her lips. She wraps her arms around my shoulders and her lips touch my neck. My hand rests on her back, pulling her closer to my body. She's looking at me with sex eyes and I'm ready for her mouth. Pulling off my towel, she sinks to her knees. Women like Amy make things that much better. She knows the score and never wants more. I don’t worry about her whining or wanting to cuddle.

Everyone should know the rules by now. I know girls love to talk to each other and gossip about me.

Rule number one: I don’t kiss. Nothing. Your lips can touch any other part of my body except my lips.

Rule number two: You will never come to my room.

Rule number three: Don’t ask about my past or expect me to tell you where I go.

Rule number four: If you agree with rules one through three congratulations. Here’s my final rule – I won’t touch you, fuck you and/or return the favor in any way. You can suck my dick and let me come in your mouth or body. Frankly I don’t care. If you don’t want to swallow that’s fine with me.

Have I ever adjusted my rules for any of these lacrosse skanks? No.

Will I ever adjust my rules? Hell no.

“Treston,” she moans, kissing the tip of my cock, swirling her tongue around. Her hand gently squeezes my balls and shit it feels good. She doesn't waste any time and soon my hands are in her hair, pushing her head, feeling her mouth sucking my cock and down her very impressive throat. I groan, feeling her lips. Without warning, I come in her mouth and she takes everything.

Standing up, she winks, "Good to be back."

"I'll see you tonight." I touch her cheek, grab my towel and head to my room.

I never used to be the guy that gets what he needs and leaves, but after losing Emily I turned cold. I used to believe in love and the beauty of being with someone who makes your heart full and puts a smile on your face. I used to smile all the time and was friends with everyone. I used to be a nice guy and helped people out when they needed it, without question.

Key word –
used to
.

I've been very careful keeping the female population at a distance. Love is a fucking waste of time. There’s no point in finding someone to fall in love with, only to have your heart break and never recover from the painful loss. People think I’m an asshole, which is fine, because I know I am. I don’t sugarcoat shit and tell it like it is. Some people get it and some don’t. It’s not my job to make people like me at school. I don’t really care what people think of me. I’m here to graduate, hang out with my brothers, hook up with some hot girls, leave them when I’m done and kill my final year as a Blue Devil.

So let’s go back to the topic of women. If they know you're hot, an asshole, play a sport and are unattainable, then they want you. They want the title of being the girl who changed you. Well, here's the thing. Some guys you can't touch or teach. We refuse to allow some random chick to touch us and push herself into our lives. And I, Treston Parker, am that guy.

I look at women like they’re a game. They're fun to play with, but when it's over you move on and find the next girl to be with. Don't get me wrong. I'm not a man whore. I simply love the opposite sex.

I've given away my heart once and only once. Now, I live my life the way I do. I don't have time to talk about my feelings and get emotional. That shit is for the birds. When you take out emotions you'll feel a lot better, trust me. Emotions mean feeling and feeling means opening yourself up to get hurt and when you’re hurt, all you can think about is why and what you could have done differently. You blame yourself and think of ways to get her back. When you can’t think of anything, you’re backed up into a corner and feel alone. No one can help you because the only person who can will never be able to. That hurt leaves you feeling broken and you go through hell trying to pick yourself back up. You stop your life, the only life you know, and live in the dark. You're vulnerable to words and actions. People around you walk on eggshells, scared to make you cry or piss you off. So I've taken away my feelings and will never hurt the way I did before.

See my point?

Finishing getting ready, I head downstairs and meet my best friend, Gavin, in the living room.

"I saw Amy walk out looking happy."

I shrug, "I have that effect on women." Sometimes I wonder why they keep trying to tame me. I’m the biggest asshole on campus and yet they still love me and want me.

"Man, I don't know how you do it. You've been single for a while. Haven't you thought about getting a girlfriend? You know, settling down?"

"I'm twenty-two," I laugh, sitting on the couch, kicking out my legs. "There's no way in hell I'm settling down. I'm having too much fun getting my dick sucked. Do you know how much easier it is to let the girl suck you and walk away?"

"Like Amy."

"Exactly. She knows the score and it works." I laugh, pulling out my phone to confirm everything for tonight's party. It's the Thursday before school starts so you know what that means.

Pushing her face out of my head, I focus on how good I feel. A little drunk, yes. Hot girl on her knees ready to suck me off, fuck yes.

"Mmmm Treston," she mumbles, before sucking me hard. I close my eyes, enjoying the way her mouth is sliding up and down my cock. Releasing my dick from her mouth she kisses it until she finds my balls. Her hand jacks me off while my balls are in her mouth. Fuck that's good. Her moans fill the bathroom we're in and all I can think about is getting off and drinking more. Don't get me wrong, she's good at sucking me, but I need to get wasted tonight.

"Treston," she moans.

"Shhh," I tell her, “Suck my dick again.” She does as I tell her and I push her head down a little more so she'll stop talking. I grip her hair in my fingers. Damn, her mouth is good. But what's her name? Penny? Penelope? No, it's something unique. Fuck, I can't remember. One of these days, I’m going to get my dick bit because I call the girl by a different name.

Lesson here everyone, if you don’t know her name, then use a cute pet name. It works every time.

"Damn, gorgeous. Keep going." A few more sucks and boom, I come in her mouth and shock her, feeling her body jerk a little. Probably should have warned her. Next time I’ll add
I’m coming
to my vocabulary to be nice.

I watch her get back up, licking her lips, looking at me and wanting more. I touch her cheek and smile, "Thanks." Her eyes go wide and I leave before a bloodbath unleashes in the bathroom.

That's what I don't get about the female population, especially the female population at school. Sucking my dick does not mean I'm going to claim you as my girlfriend. I'm
The King
, and untouchable. I want to make an announcement, reminding the groupies that they can play, but I'll never sleep with them or make them mine. Relationships are too messy. Adding emotions to anything that could hurt you is what I've been avoiding.

Stepping out to the kitchen, back to the party, I grab a beer from the cooler and join my brothers for a game of pong.

"Parker!" Jackson yells, "Dude, come here." Clinking my beer with a few of the guys, I join Jackson and get ready for a round." I can't wait until you meet Zara!"

"Your girlfriend? The one you've been talking about since you got here?" Jackson transferred here from Boston and we’re lucky to have him. He’s a great lacrosse player, so this year will be another championship year. Don’t ask me how I know, but I do.

"Yeah," he answers, sounding like a lovesick fool. "She was here earlier, but you and Peony were a little busy. She just left."

Peony! Yeah, that's the chick’s name. I look around for her quickly, making sure she's not eye fucking me, plotting my murder or worse, a date. "I'll meet this sweet girlfriend of yours soon."

Gavin lines up the cups and we take turns tossing the ping-pong ball into the cups to see who goes first.

Of course, Jackson and I go first. When I let the ball slip through my fingers and watch it slink into a cup, I feel arms around my waist.

"Treston," she purrs. "I'm going to forgive you for what you said since I've been waiting to do that to you for so long. Come on, dance with me, and then take me to your room. I really want to spend more time with you."

The definition of a stage five clinger is attached to my hip. Oh hell no, we're not doing this. Fuck me for letting her suck me off. I need to learn how to spot a clingy girl, but then if I do that, I might not ever get my dick sucked.

I turn my head toward her and narrow my eyes. "Listen..." shit what the fuck is her name?! I just had it too. "It was good. You're great, but I'm with my boys now and we're trying to play a game." She squeezes tighter and I'm instantly annoyed. I don't like being an asshole in front of people, especially to a girl.

"Ethan," I call out to my other teammate and nod my head so he knows to come over. "Ethan, why don't you take this lovely lady to the dance floor and show her your moves?"

She backs away from me with a disgusted expression.
Nothing new, sweetheart. You aren't the first and you're not the last.

I wink at her, "Have fun, gorgeous."

"Man you're a dick," Gavin laughs, drinking his beer. I shrug my shoulders and continue with the game. What can I say?
