He nipped her shoulder. “Do you want me to stop?”

“N-no. Please don’t stop.” Her blood ran thick with lust. He knew what she wanted. And he was always willing to let her explore her boundaries.

He slid back into her slick channel, but all the while, he continued to explore her ass. While he timed each thrust with his thumb, Jaya pushed back into him, seeking more of both. Alec eventually replaced his thumb with a finger. Gently penetrating her. Fucking her with the same slow, easy glide as his cock. Then he added two.

They’d made love like this before, but it required the kind of time that they didn’t have lately. It struck her that she’d missed it.

When Alec removed his fingers and his cock, she moaned, automatically bringing her ass back, seeking more contact. When she felt the head of his cock against her ass, she held her breath.

Alec’s voice was harsh in her ear. “Relax, baby, I don’t want to hurt you.”

Immediately, she released the breath she’d been holding. As he slid in past any resistance, she moaned at the familiar contact. As he seated himself inside her ass, he took the time to run soapy hands all over her body, whispering words of love and adoration. “God I’ve missed you…So fucking sexy…Made for me…”

She could tell from his shaking hands how little control he had. Slowly, he made love to her. Pulling himself all the way out, then sliding back again, making her wild. Her whole body shook, and all she wanted was for him to move faster. For him to feel as wild as she did.

Finally, Alec increased his pace, even as his big powerful body cocooned her. Cupping her breast, he rolled the tight nipple with his fingers, making Jaya drop her head back against his shoulder. He took her hand, and together, he led her fingers to the slick folds between her thighs. Together, they stroked over her clit, teasing that sensitive bundle of nerves, bringing her closer and closer to the brink of madness.

“Come for me, baby.”

Jaya turned her head to meet his lips for a long, wet kiss. His cock stroked her deep and the penetration was enough to made her feel weak and needy and desperate. When she broke, the orgasm slammed through her body with a vengeance, so strong she needed to lean into him for support.

“Oh, fuck, Jai.”

He came hard, and she could feel every jerk of his cock inside her.

For several long moments, they stood, still joined, panting. Slowly, awareness seeped back in. She registered the water hitting the tiles, his hot, soap-slick skin against her back, and his still-hard dick inside her ass. “I love you. I’ve missed you,” she whispered.

“Not nearly as much as I’ve missed you. New rule, if we’re going to be apart more than a week, one of us has to fly home to reconnect.”

She giggled. “That’s a long way to go for a quickie.”

“I’m serious.” He shook his head. “It’s killing me not to sleep next to you every night. And when you’re not here, no one makes me a to-do list for the day.”

Jaya laughed. “See, I told you you’d grow to love those lists.”

He laughed as he disengaged their bodies. Pulling her to him, he kissed her hard before reaching for the soap.

It was another ten minutes before they were done in the shower because he kept getting distracted. “You know you’re going to be late for the Kleinman dinner.”

He shook his head. “I’m begging off. Adele can handle it.”

“While I’m glad to see you are finally learning you’re not Superman and delegating, I know how important this is.” The Kleinman Group was a heavy investor in luxury hotels around the world. They’d partnered with the Westhorpe for a new hotel in Hong Kong. The only kicker being that Walter Kleinman had a stick up his ass at the best of times. Well-known for working his people into the ground, he didn’t tolerate distractions or what he perceived as laziness. He and Adele got on like gangbusters. He and Alec, not so much. The deal had nearly fallen through because of Alec’s playboy reputation. Alec’s other reputation for getting the job done had tentatively won over the man. “Alec, I don’t think—”

He laughed and shook his head, interrupting her. “Not so fast, my list-planning wife. I think I’m due for a sick day. Or night, as the case may be.”

She wrapped a towel around herself. “Oh, really?”

Alec nodded enthusiastically. “We have some time to make up for. I’ll call Adele and have her do the dinner solo. Kleinman would much rather have dinner with her anyway.”

Alec’s phone rang on the nightstand, and Jaya groaned. “See, somebody’s already looking for you.”

He chuckled. “And when are you going to learn to go with the flow? I’m going to take care of this then I’m going to take care of my wife.”

He winked at her, and her stomach flipped.

He picked up the phone. “Yeah, Caleb, what’s up?”

When his handsome features morphed into a frown, Jaya stepped forward. “What’s the matter?” she whispered.

Alec didn’t answer. Instead, his voice was tight as he muttered into the phone. “I’ll be right there.”

Chapter Three

Of all the things Alec never thought he’d hear, “Someone’s left you a baby at the hotel” would have been at the top of the list. A baby abandoned on his property was bad enough. One in any way tied to his name was a potential disaster. Especially given the Kleinman deal. The old goat was already looking for a reason to back out of working with them.

Alec’s heart thundered as fury coursed through his blood. With one call, the ground beneath his feet shook. According to Caleb, the baby had come complete with a birth certificate naming him as the father. It wasn’t true. Couldn’t be true.
Except, maybe it could be.

His stomach pitched even as he gripped the steering wheel. Normally, Jaya would be a calming influence, but right now, the last thing he wanted was her near this mess.

This was all some kind of mistake. He and Jaya had been apart for six months before he’d finally pulled his head out of his ass and come back to her. But he hadn’t slept with anyone. He would never have done that.
Are you sure about that?

The bile rose in his throat, and he choked it back. Shortly before he’d realized he couldn’t live without Jaya, he’d been willing to do anything to bring himself a reprieve from missing her. Including drinking himself into blind oblivion. All he had were hazy, foggy patches and pieces from that one night, but he’d woken in his own bed. But there had been blond hairs on the pillow next to him, and the place had smelled distinctly of floral shampoo. Would he have substituted someone else for the woman he wanted? Could he have?
No
.

At least that’s what he wanted to believe, what he
had
to believe, but still, it
was
possible.

“Alec, I’m sure it’ll be okay. We’ll figure out what’s going on.” Jaya’s voice was soft, reassuring.

It only made him feel worse. He cleared his throat. “Jai, you didn’t have to come.”

“Caleb called in a 9-1-1. When are you going to realize that means that I’m coming too? We’re a family now. Your problems are my problems.”

Yeah, well, he’d see how she felt about it once they got to the hotel. Because he was pretty sure she wasn’t going to take it so smoothly that he had his own personal Billie Jean.

After breaking a myriad of traffic laws, they arrived at the hotel in barely one piece, and Caleb met them in Alec’s office, but halted when he saw Jaya. His gaze darted to Alec’s as he spoke. “Jai, I didn’t expect to see you here.”

“Whatever you have to say to him you can say to me. Where’s the baby?” Jaya asked.

When she crossed her arms over her breasts, Alec realized he probably couldn’t love her more than he did in that moment.

Caleb nodded brusquely before radioing one of his team to bring the baby in. When he turned his attention back to them, he spoke quickly. “About an hour ago, one of the maid staff found the baby girl in the business center. The kid had a note pinned to her that said, “Property of my daddy, Alec Westhorpe.” Caleb darted a glance at Jaya before moving on. “She also had what looked like a legit birth certificate on her, naming him as the father.”

Alec ground his teeth together.
Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot
. “I don’t have a kid.”

Caleb nodded. “We’ll clear it up. The mother is listed as one Melanie Brooks. We’ve started digging up any information on her that we can. But right now she’s a ghost.”

Jaya’s voice was calm and level as she asked, “How old is the baby?”

“Eight and a half months, if the birth certificate is to be believed.”

Alec kept his eyes on Jaya. His body clenched, waiting for her to do the math. Waiting for her to turn a wounded, disbelieving gaze his way. But it didn’t come. Instead, she asked more questions.

“Can we talk to the maid who found the baby? Maybe she saw something?”

“My guys are talking to her now. Whoever left the kid, left her with a few days of baby food and her blanket and a toy or two.”

She sighed. “That poor baby.”

Alec watched his wife carefully. She seemed unconcerned whether the baby was his or not. Her only concern was for the welfare of the child.

There was a brief knock at the door, and Caleb’s right hand guy, Tom, walked in, carrying a squirming bundle. If the situation hadn’t been absurd enough, Alec might have started laughing at the picture Tom made with the kid. Someone as big as him, looking extremely uncomfortable with a baby in his arms.

As if sensing the new audience, the baby turned her head, and her gaze collided directly with Alec’s. He sucked in a sharp breath. Jet-black hair framed her heart-shaped face. Startling blue eyes stared back at him. And like him, she had a cleft in her chin. His head swam, and prickly heat stung his skin.

Jaya didn’t seem to notice. Instead, she relieved Tom of the tiny burden. “Hey there, beautiful girl. You’ve had a heck of a night, huh? Well, don’t you worry, we’ll find your mama, okay?”

The baby gurgled and rewarded Jaya with a smile.

“Have you called Child Protective Services yet?” Alec asked.

Caleb nodded. “Right after I called the cops. They’re already on their way and will be keeping it discrete. They’re interviewing the staff.”

For the first time since they’d walked in, Jaya slanted him with a displeased look. “We are not handing this baby over to CPS.”

He stared at her. “Excuse me?”

“Alec, you can’t let CPS take her.”

Alec blinked as a hazy buzzing in his ears accompanied Jaya’s question. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Somebody abandoned a baby at the hotel. She has to go to CPS.”

Jaya quirked a brow. “She’s a baby. It’s late; they might not have anywhere to put her tonight. From what Micha says about the foster care system, it’s not pleasant, and she’s only a baby. Shouldn’t we at least try to make her more comfortable for the night?”

Guilt gnawed at him. This conversation was too similar to one that had happened concerning him. After his mother had died, he’d gone looking for his father. Royce Westhorpe had been less than pleased to find his discarded ten-year-old son on his doorstep. His father’s pretty young wife, Adele, had fought for him then, like Jaya was fighting for the baby now.

“Jaya…”

“No, Alec. This is a no-brainer. We obviously have people to look after her for a night. Twenty-four hours. I’m sure Caleb and his team will have a good lead. Or at least be able to locate some of her family. Why are you shoving a baby into foster care?”

Because I’m an asshole.
“Jaya, she’s not a doll or a pet; we can’t keep her.”

“I know she’s not a doll, Alec. I’m not an idiot. But she’s a baby, and she’s alone. Do you think an overcrowded foster home is the right place for her right now? All I’m saying is take a day to locate her family.”

He scrubbed a hand over his face. “According to that birth certificate,
I
am her family.”

Caleb cleared his throat. “Guys, there’s one more thing.”

“What the fuck else could there be?” Hearing the clipped tightness in his voice, Alec modulated his tone. “Sorry, man. Long night.”

His friend shrugged. “I’m not sensitive. Anyway, there was another note.”

Alec took the plastic-encased proffered note and scanned it quickly.
Fuck
. This was all about money. Well, at least he knew how to handle that. “Apparently, Alexa’s mother wants cash.” Relief flooded his veins. Simple extortion.
This
he could deal with. He hadn’t fucked up. He hadn’t put his future with Jaya in jeopardy for a single drunken night.

But she looks like a Westhorpe
.

Ignoring the jab of truth, he waved the letter at Caleb. “I assume you’re checking for fingerprints.”

“If there are any, we’ll find them.”

“Let’s get a copy of this over to the lawyers too.” He rocked back on his heels. “She wants two million or she’s going to the press with our love child news.”

Jaya’s brows snapped down. “She’s going after the Kleinman deal.” Her lips thinned. “That,” she ground out, “is bullshit.”

“All the more reason we need to keep everything on the up and up, Jai. No special treatment or anything. To the letter.”

“I’m not asking you to claim her as yours. She’s not. I’m only asking you to show some compassion and give Caleb a chance to find somewhere better to place her.”
