Snake nodded at her and started for the door. “You’ll be hearing from me,” he called out before following his goons out of her house.

The instant her door clicked closed, Emily bolted to the bathroom and emptied the contents of her stomach into the toilet. After many minutes, the violent heaving subsided, leaving her weakened and exhausted. Sweat ran down her face, mixing with her tears and stinging her eyes.
