“Oh, honey. I’m really swamped,” Christine began. “Can’t it wait until I get—.”

“No.” Julia was not the kind of person who often interrupted, but this time, she felt justified. “No, it cannot wait. We need to talk. Now. Right now.”

She turned on her heel and headed down the hall towards Christine’s office, chin up, heart pounding, leaving her soon-to-be ex-wife blinking in astonished confusion behind her.
