“You played your own damn self! What type of woman blackmails a nigga to get him to fuck her praying that he will catch feeling for her? You can’t be 100% sane! I believe your ass has a few screws loose!”

“How else was I supposed to get you to fuck with me? You had your head stuck so far up Kisha and that other girl’s ass that you couldn’t see me!”

I was sick of listening to her ignorant ass. “I saw you! I just wasn’t paying your ass no mind!” I stepped back into the house and closed the door in her face. She screamed and banged on the door for several minutes before leaving. After she left she started calling my phone back to back and sending text messages.

One of her messages said:
Fuck you then, I’m going to tell Casper and Kisha about you and me!

I messaged her back:
Bitch tell them whatever you want! I’ve already lost my girl and my boys so I have nothing else to lose! In this situation you will be the one losing because he takes care of your triflin’ ass! Stop texting my phone!

She sent several messages cursing me out after that but I just ignored them all. I couldn’t turn off my phone because I was waiting for Kisha’s text. I finished cleaning up and then took a shower and got dressed. I’d gone out and bought some new clothes and a few pairs of shoes since Kisha had destroyed most of my other stuff.

When I was finished getting dressed, I went over to my parent’s house. I needed to talk to my dad and tell him about what was going on and ask him to tell me what I should do. I wanted my family back. When I got to my parent’s house, my ma opened the door.

“Hey baby.” She greeted me.

I gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek. “Hey ma.”

“Come on in here.” I walked in and she closed the door behind me
. I took a seat on the sofa. My dad was lying back in the recliner watching TV.

“What’s up pops?”

“Nothing much, just watching this old Western movie. Where are the two munchkins?”

“They’re with their mama.”

“Oh, I can’t believe that you managed to get away from those two.”

I figured now was as good of time as any to tell them what was going on. Initially, I’d only planned to tell my dad but I didn’t see any reason not to go ahead and tell my ma as well. She would eventually find out anyways. “I need to talk to you two about something.” I told them.

My ma took a seat at the other end of the sofa. “Okay, what is it?”

“Kisha left, she and the boys have been staying at her mama’s house.” I blurted.

My dad sat the recliner up. “She left?” He sounded concerned. “Why?”

“What in the world did you do Tremaine?” My ma asked.

“I got another girl pregnant and she told Kisha about it a few days ago.” I dropped my head. I felt ashamed sitting there telling my parents what I’d done.

“Oh my God, Tremaine.
What on earth were you thinking?” My ma had her hand over her chest and she was shaking her head. “Poor Kisha, I know she must be a wreck!” She looked over at me with disappointment in her eyes.

“Yeah she is.” I admitted. “I don’t know what to do. I’ve been telling Kisha that Lala is lying about me being the father of her kids…”

“Kids?” My dad yelled. “What do you mean kids? You got her pregnant more than once?”

“Nah…” I shook my head. “She has twin girls…well we have twin girls.” I paused and thought about the day that the girls were born. Images of their little faces danced in my head. “Man…I’ve really been messing up!” I let my head drop in my hands. For the first time in a long time, since I was a kid, I wanted to cry!

“So are these two babies by this other girl yours? I mean, do you know that for a fact?” My dad asked.

I lifted my head up running my hand over the hair on my face. “Yeah, they’re mine. I’ve been telling Kisha that they’re not but they are.”

“Well, where are these children at?” My ma wanted to know.

“In Danville, VA, Lala moved up there when she found out that she was pregnant.”

My dad looked confused. “Why?”

I sat there and told them the whole entire story from the beginning so that they wouldn’t be confused.
When I was done I waited for their reactions.

My dad was the first to speak. “Two years? You were with that girl for two years behind Kisha’s back?”

“Yes sir.” I answered.

“And you can’t understand why she may have told Kisha about those children?” My dad asked but didn’t give me a chance to answer. “Son, you didn’t just go out and mess around, you had a relationship with that woman
. You allowed her to develop feelings for you and I am sure that you showed some type of feelings for her as well. She loved you so much that she left everything that she knew to protect you. I’m not taking up for her in anyway because she knew what she was getting herself into dealing with a man that already had someone but I can’t overlook the fact that she did try to do the right thing. From what you just sat here and told us, all she wanted was for you to be there for your children. She’s asking you to do what you should be doing anyways! I imagine that she’s scared to death, having a sick baby with a heart condition. I don’t think she told Kisha because she wanted to break y’all up. I believe she told her because she was angry and fed up with how you have been neglecting your responsibilities! You sat here and continuously repeated how you’d kept those other babies a secret because you didn’t want to lose your family. They’re your family too and one of them is very sick. You say that you know for a fact they are your babies. So don’t you feel like you should be there when that child has surgery on her heart?”

“Your daddy is right, Tremaine.” My mama added. “What if that little girl doesn’t make it through that surgery? You will have to live with the fact that you weren’t there for the rest of your life. That’s not something that you want to have to live with, I’m sure.”

“No ma’am.” I agreed letting out a sigh. Hearing them explain it made it sound different. I knew that they had no hidden agenda and I also knew that they’d never tell me anything wrong. “So what do I do now?”

“You start by telling Kisha the truth.” My dad told me.

“That’s right these lies have got to stop.” My ma added. “You also need to call that girl, Lala and ask her the day and time of that baby’s surgery because if that is my grandbaby I want to be there and you should want to as well. Also I am going to need some pictures and some clothes sizes! Ooooh! I got two more grandbabies!” She squealed. “I can’t wait to spoil them!” She stood up and walked over to me and smacked me upside the head! “My grandbabies are two months old and I’ve never even seen them!”

“I’
m sorry ma.”

Mmmmhmmm…just fix this mess.” She replied. “I have to go and fix some lunch.” She left the living room and went into the kitchen.

“Everything is going to be alright son. You just have to start making some better choices and stop playing with people’s feelings. You are not getting any younger. You are getting older and you have four children now. You need to start trying to set an example for them, give them someone that they can look up to.”
He explained.

“You’re right.” I agreed. “I’m going to step outside for a minute.”

“Alright.”

I got up and walked outside. When I got outside, I lit a cigarette and then pulled out my phone. I dialed Lala’s number and waited for her to answer.

When she did I heard crying in the background. “Hello.” She answered. She sounded extremely busy.

“Are you busy?” I asked. “I could call back in a few.”

“Nah, I have my Bluetooth in so I’m good. What do you want? I sent you the information about the blood test so what else do you need?”

“I called because I wanted to talk to you. I have some things that I need to say.” The baby was still crying. “Is she alright?”

“Yeah, Ms. Laila hates bath time.” Lala laughed. “Lola loves to take a bath.”

“Oh…” I smiled. I realized that I didn’t know anything about them except their names and that Lola had a heart murmur. “Lala, I called to apologize to you for how I’ve been treating you. You were right. I’ve been walking around blaming you and everyone else for this entire situation when I really should be blaming myself. I was really pissed at you for telling Kisha…well Kisha and everyone on my Facebook page…about the babies but I should’ve been told her. So I called to
apologize to you. I hope that you will accept my apology.”

“I appreciate your apology and yes I accept it.”

“Thanks and I don’t need a blood test. I know that they are mine as a matter of fact we need to make arrangements for me to put my name on their birth certificates.”

“Okay but I still want to have the blood test done for the simple fact that I don’t want to have to go through you saying they’re not yours again when you get mad.” She paused for a second and then I heard Laila stop crying. “
Awwww…mama’s baby is mad. Don’t be mad with mama…I had to clean you up Miss Laila.” I stood there listening to her talk to Laila. Then she turned her attention back to me. “I’m sorry Tre.”

“You’re fine.” I assured her. “We can still do the blood test but you don’t have to worry about me saying that again.”

“I hear you.”

“Can you send some pictures of the girls to my phone so that my mama can see them?” I asked.

“Yeah sure, no problem I will do it as soon as we hang up.” She promised.

“Alright, I’m going to get back in here where my parents are. I will holla at you later.”

“Okay…and Tre…I appreciate you apologizing.” We hung up and I went back into the house.”

                                                        Tre

I was seated at the table with my parents eating when my cell vibrated. I looked at the phone and saw that I had a message. I opened it. It was from Kisha.

Kisha:
I’m free now. Where do you want to meet?

Me:
We could meet up at the park if you want.

Kisha:
I’ll be there in a twenty minutes.

Me
: Okay.

“Ma…daddy…I have to get ready to go. Thanks for lunch though.” I told them.

“Awww…I hate to see you go. You don’t come over that much anymore and it seems like when you do come by you are in a rush.” My mama pouted.

“Ma, I’ve been here for about three hours.” I laughed pinching her cheek.

“Boy, get your hands off of me!” She laughed too smacking my hand off of her. “Let me see those pictures of those two little butterballs again.” I took out my phone and went back to the pictures that Lala had sent of the girls. I handed the phone to my ma. “Tremaine, they are so precious! Look at those chubby little cheeks. Laila is bigger than Lola. I guess that means that she eats the most.”

“Nah, Lala said that Lola’s condition causes her to not eat much because she has trouble eating but I’m sure that after her surgery she will be just as big as Laila.”

“Awww…poor baby.” She sat there staring at the pictures a little bit longer before handing my dad the phone.

“They truly are precious, Tre.” He smiled continuing to stare at my phone.
“What color are their eyes?”

“They have hazel eyes like their mama. Laila’s are green and Lola’s are grey.”

“Boy, you’d better get your shot gun ready!” He laughed. “You are going to have boys lined up at your door!”

“I can handle it.” I stood up and my dad handed the phone back to me. “Alright, y’all I’m going to go ahead and get out of here.”

“Okay drive safely…we love you.” My ma yelled after me.

I jumped in the car and turned on the radio. I already knew that Kisha was going to trip so I let a cigarette to relax and prepare myself for what was to come. When I turned into the park, I saw Kisha’s car and there was a girl sitting on the bench but I didn’t see Kisha. I figured maybe she gotten out of the car and was walking around. I parked my car beside her and got out. I looked around the field but I didn’t see anyone.

I took my phone out of my pocket to call her. I dialed her number and waited for it to ring.

“Why in the hell are you standing over there calling me?” The girl on the bench yelled.

I looked closer and noticed that it was Kisha, she’d cut her hair! I put my phone back in my pocket and walked over to her. As much as I hated that she’d cut her hair I had to admit that the style looked really nice on her. I took a seat next to her on the bench. “Hey, how are you doing?” I asked.

“I’m good.” She was popping a piece of gum and fidgeting with the end of the skirt that she had on. I couldn’t get over how good she looked. She was wearing a yellow halter top that showed off her flat stomach and tied up around her neck with a blue jean skirt and a pair of yellow flip flops.

“That’s good. You look really nice. I like your hair like that.”

Mmmmhmmm…whatever.” She rolled her eyes.

“How are my boys?”

“They’re good.” She finally looked over at me. “Look, I have somewhere else to be so what is it that you want to talk to me about?”
