He shook his head, and his features hardened.

“How does that feel, being there alone?”

It was a symbolic move, she knew that; a physical demonstration to accentuate the meaning of his words.

“It doesn’t feel good. I need you back here.” She pointed to the place he’d occupied between her thighs.

“What if I said no?”

“Then you would break my heart, Ranger.”

His nod was barely perceptible, but the low hum he made helped her feel that whilst apart, they’d experienced similar distress and heartache.

“Hurts me too, Ada. Do you understand that now? If circumstances force us apart at any time, I need the mental image of you waiting to take me in your arms and holding me in your heart for when I return. You’re my anchor, and I need to come back to you.”

“I need that, too.”

“I know. Take off your blouse.”

Her fingers trembled as she worked down the row of buttons and threw the blouse to the floor.

He raked his eyes over her body with the hunger of a predator.

“As stunning as ever. Hop down off the counter and turn around, hands at your sides.”

Her pussy throbbed, a thick desperate pulse, a plea to be filled and used hard. She had her back to him, waiting for his next move or request, her breathing increasing in speed, yet losing efficiency. She wore a bra, a skirt, and what he was yet to see: thigh-highs held up by a wide band of lace decorated with sprays of lilies. Their significance was not lost on her when she chose them this morning.

How was he looking at her? But for his immense presence, the silence could have meant he’d left the room. Her hair hung loosely down her back, stopping just below the strap of her bra, and although there was not a lot of bare skin on view, she somehow felt exposed and vulnerable.

In two steps, he was behind her again, not touching although the heat that sandwiched between them warmed her like the press of his body.

He ran his hand, broad and flat, up her spine, stopping at her neck, capturing it in the curve of his thumb and forefinger. No other part of him touched her, no word spoken.

The insinuation, the increasing pressure of his hand, bent her upper body in a descent to the counter top that took her head to the place she’d been seated.

“Turn your face to the left.” He emphasised his words with a tug of her hair.

Her right cheek pressed to the butt-warmed marble of the island counter. In this position, she could have searched for him with her eyes, but chose to keep her focus just inches away on the stack of unopened mail.

There was a squeeze to the back of her neck before he ran his hand further up to stop where his thumb could rest in that little indentation at the base of her skull. His fingers he used to rake her hair away to the side.

“This.” He pressed his mark he’d exposed at the junction of her neck and shoulder. “As if you weren’t arousing enough, Ada, this makes me so fucking hard.” He squeezed it; not hard, but enough to cause a dull ache. “Does it hurt?”

“It’s tender. Different things I do remind me that it’s there.”

“I’d mark you again if it meant you’d never forget me.”

Forgetting him was impossible, he had to know that by now. When he stepped away again, the disconnection drew a whimper from her.

“Reach behind, and unhook your bra. I wish you’d go without it.”

“With breasts this size that would be impractical.”

“Your tits are perfect, Ada. Anyway, there’s no place for practicality in fantasies.”

When she made to shrug out of the garment she’d unfastened, he seized both of her wrists and placed them over her head, firming each palm flat to the counter with the press of his hand. He hooked one foot between her legs, tapping her feet until they were spread wide. She could feel her arousal in the way the damp crotch of her panties was drawn taut between her legs by her cast position.

“Your scent fills this room like the sweetest honey. Without me even needing to touch you, I can tell you’re ready to fuck.” His voice had an abrasive edge that scuffed at her arousal. “I’m desperate to be inside you.”

“Go on.”

She would resort to begging if he didn’t get a move on.

“You’re not calling the shots, sweetheart. I let you do that twice already with disastrous results. I allowed you to walk away from me because that’s what you wanted. Except, I don’t think you really knew what you wanted, did you?”

“I thought I did…”

“And?”

“And I was wrong. Miserable—that’s how I am without you, Ranger.”

“That’s mutual.”

The sound of his belt buckle, the slide of his zipper, made her tighten her thighs in a futile attempt to squeeze her legs together and relieve the ache.

“Patience, Ada, I’ll give you everything you need very soon. Right now I want to look at you.”

She heard the tumble of his shoes, then his jeans brushed against her calf as he shucked them off and slid them away from her feet. His fingertips raked up her thigh, taking the hem of her skirt up to tuck it in the waistband. A small sound of approval was all Ada heard over her quickly drawn breath.

“The stockings are hot; they definitely stay on, but these,” he tugged at her panties, “are impractical.” He took the side seam in both hands and with a deft move easily split her underwear apart. In a second, her pussy was bare.

“Lilies.” He said the word in an exhalation, his fingers tracing the pattern around the band of her stockings and up the inside of her thigh.

Ada couldn’t help but shift her hips back towards him. She’d moved her hands back down the counter so that her elbows were bent, palms flat, braced and ready to work in counterpoint when he finally took her.

Moving quickly, Ranger slid her bra strap off one arm. He took her hands together and wound and twisted the garment until her wrists were bound together. Ada tested the firm binding and shuddered as a fresh rush of need coursed through her body, agitating the thickness between her thighs.

Whenever he moved, she felt the nudge of his cock, the head already slippery for her. Now she felt its insistent press along the back of her thigh. Ranger folded himself across her back, his lips by her ear.

“Lucky you’re so tall,” he whispered, sliding her hands beyond her head, folding her fingers over the far edge of the counter. “Don’t let go from here; you can brace yourself when I fuck you hard. How do you feel?”

“Trapped.”

“Good, because I won’t let you escape.”

Her ribcage rose and fell with each sharp breath, and he lifted off her to remove his t-shirt. She felt like a sacrifice, or something precious on display. Adored. At last, she felt his touch, his hands, kneading her buttocks, squeezing and circling. Then, one hand made a determined venture into the slick heat of her pussy lips.

They groaned in unison.

He lay his naked chest along her spine, and just the feeling of his bare skin was almost more than she could bear.

“Ranger, please, I need you.”

“I need you, too.”

The thick head of his cock moved up between her thighs, and he paused only for a moment at the entrance to her pussy before he sank into her, slow and determined. Positioned like this, it was nothing for him to completely fill her, but still, she lifted her hips to push against him.

“That’s it…all the way home.”

With those words, he could have been reading her mind. It seemed as though his presence coated every part of her body, inside and out, so that she felt completely captured and at one with him. His hand snaked down between her legs circling her hard clit, and her pussy grabbed at his cock with a squeeze of gratitude. Somehow, the teasing of her nub became an extension of the way he fucked her. The sensations he created running along her nerves until they collided, creating a fierce ball of tension. An orgasm hovered at that perfect distance where every touch to her clit, every withdrawal and thrust of his cock, kept an energised focus at her core.

When he reached with his other hand tweaking her nipples, she let out a long cry. He rolled them between his fingers, creating new tracks of pleasure that arrowed directly to her clit.

“That’s it, baby. Give it up for me.”

Her desire shifted from a melodious buzz to a ferocious need. Ranger pulled out again, slamming back into her, each drive pushing her hips against the edge of the counter. Her flesh quivered with every thrust, and he changed the angle of his cock until she moaned.

“That’s the place, yeah?” He pulled out and went deeper. “That’s where you like feeling my cock.” The fingers of one hand dug into her flesh, and the other propped on the counter top for leverage.

“I’m right there, Ada… You come with me.”

His pace increased so that all she could do was hold on. Every place their bodies touched was slick with perspiration; the slap of flesh and the sound of their harsh breathing filling the kitchen.

Now Ranger seemed to grow even larger inside her. His breathing interspersed with deep rumbles from his chest. “That’s it, here we go.”

His words were the final straw, and the great knot of tension centered in her core detonated. Her pussy clamped around his cock, and he roared as he shoved into her, stopping once buried to the hilt, his stillness at odds with his preceding thrusts as he filled her with his cum.

His hand between her legs held her hard against him, a firm grip and release of his fingers causing a second orgasm to burst through her.

They spent the next few minutes joined together until their breathing gradually returned to normal. All the while, Ranger peppered her with soft kisses, along her shoulders, behind her ear, and softly, at the corner of her eye, to catch the moisture gathered there.

“Together, we’re perfect,” he whispered.

“Yes, I believe we are,” Ada replied.

He eased her off the counter turning her so that they were face to face. His eyes swept across her body. “Fuck, you’re gorgeous. I want to do that all over again.”

Ada shivered, as much from the thought of more sex with Ranger as with the perspiration cooling on her naked body.

Ranger grabbed his t-shirt and slid it over her head. “Here, you look cold. Much and all as it pains me to cover your magnificent curves, there’s something else I want to ask you.”

She searched his face for a clue as he pulled on his jeans. He didn’t appear troubled; more…excited.

Ranger eyed her for the longest moment before he slid a hand up to take hold of hers, the other reaching into his back pocket.

“There really was something besides me you forgot when you left my apartment. Except, you had no idea it was there for you.”

Ada frowned. “Ranger, you’re not making any sense.”

“I know…I’m nervous; I’ve never done this before.”

She pressed her lips together, trying to suppress her emotions, a small tremor skating through her as she watched him lower to his knees.

He pinned her with a look that dried her mouth.

“Ada, I never want to be another day without you. I promise to sacrifice everything for you if you will be my mate for life, my wife and…and everything. Children, hopefully, yeah? Our own family?”

Her hand flew to her mouth, catching her cry of delight, fingers pressing into her cheeks, trying to reach her eyes where the tears spilled happily over her lids.

“Oh my god, Ranger.”

“Don’t cry, sweetheart, just tell me yes.”

From his pocket, he removed a small velvet covered box, and opened it to reveal a fat, square-cut, and intensely yellow solitaire diamond ring. When he slid it onto her finger, she couldn’t help but notice that when it sparkled, it resembled the way his eyes flashed with passion when he looked at her. She shivered, imagining what it would be like to live with that constant reminder on her hand.

Like most women, she wasn’t immune to the beauty of a well-crafted piece of jewellery, but the gnawing anxiety in her stomach could not be ignored. All of her doubts whirled inside her mind until she couldn’t quite grasp the reason she’d thought being together with Ranger would be a terrible idea.

She wasn’t her mother any more than Ranger was like her father. Already he’d done everything possible to allay her fears about his work, and to Ada, that meant a greater commitment than any expensive ring. He’d thought first of what she required from him so that they could be together, happily, for the rest of their lives. The ring, the trappings, would remain a symbolic reminder of their love, but the way he protected her heart and soul would be the reason she agreed to marry him.

“Yes, Ranger, with all my heart and soul, I would love to be your wife, your mate for life.”

His mouth parted with a broad grin before a small furrow appeared on his brow. He squeezed her hand which he still hadn’t released.

“When you walked out of my apartment, you forgot this.” Ranger brushed his thumb over the ring. “And if you forget it again, I’ll go to the corners of the earth to put it back on your finger.”
