I was surprised and confused. I didn't know how to respond. I just sat there on the couch and watched as he rushed out the door and slammed it shut behind him. There was still a couple sips of wine in his glass on the table and his jacket lay sprawled on the couch where he had thrown it. I adjusted my legs, feeling the warm slickness between them and sighed. I reached forward and poured what was left of his wine into my glass and then threw the glass back, swallowing the whole thing in one big gulp.

"So stupid, Tara. So stupid."
I said. From across the room I could hear Tom meow in response and I wondered what he was saying.
