He seized her hands in his own.” You're driving me crazy!”

"I'm driving me crazy.”

Within seconds, he got rid of the remainder of his clothes, then tossed them onto the chair. He stood before her, magnificent in his perfection, every line, every angle of his hard-muscled body.

For long, silent moments, she stared at him.” You're beautiful!” Overcome with love for him, she tried to make light of her emotions.” And you're mine!” She swallowed past the lump in her throat.” I love you so much. How did I ever live before I met you?”

"My God, Stevie, you are my life.” He drew back to look long and fully into her eyes.” To think you could ever love me, knowing what I was . . .” He sighed and kissed her forehead.” It's a miracle, sweetheart.”

Her embrace tightened.” A miracle we found each other,” she whispered in his ear.” And nothing will ever change my love for you.”

Tears filled his eyes. Brushing his hand across them, he left her to slide the bedspread back, then returned to wrap his arms around her waist.” What are we waiting for?” he said in a husky voice.

Without effort, he lifted her and placed her on the bed, then lay beside her. Between whispered endearments and his touch that kindled desire in every inch of her, he brought her to the point where she could no more deny him than she could stop her heart from beating.

Desperate for him, she welcomed him inside her, unable to think or say a word, wanting--needing--his kisses, his caresses, the sweet, wonderful reality of his love. She ignored a brief moment of pain, then he led her to heights she'd only read about, to breathtaking pleasures she'd only imagined, to an ecstasy she'd only dreamed of.

"Sweetheart!”  she cried while mind-shattering passion burst inside her.

"My dear wife.” Long moments passed, then he kissed her softly.” Did I hurt you very much?” he asked as they lay side

by side, their breathing returned to normal.

She feathered his face with kisses.” Only for a moment.”

"I love you, darling,” he murmured, nuzzling her neck.” In case I haven't said that enough lately, I'm telling you now.”

Her eyes misted.” Same with me.”

As the air conditioning cooled their bodies, she lay in his arms, his heartbeat strong and steady beneath her cheek. She entwined her fingers with his.” That . . . what we just

did . . . was nice,” she teased.” We'll have to do that again.”

"Um, let me think about it. How about next week?”

She gave him a playful tap and snuggled closer.” You have a hairy chest,” she said.

He raised up slightly to look at her.” You don't like hairy chests?”

"If I tell you I like your chest, will you tell me you like mine?” she asked, full of mischief.

His hand closed over her breast.” I don't need to tell you,” he said in his low, sensuous voice that already had her craving for more.” There are other ways to show you . . .”

How can anything be so beautiful?  Galan thought as he made love to this exquisite woman, meant only for him, this woman who was all he'd ever wanted, all he'd dreamed of. Throughout the centuries he'd waited for her, never knowing the love of a mortal woman, never making love to a mortal woman. Now . . . now, she was his alone, his to love and cherish for the rest of their lives. And he was making love to her. Wonderful, beautiful, glorious love. Passion consumed him, a rainbow of vibrant colors, a medley of every symphony in the world, a burst of happiness greater than anything he'd ever known.

Moments later, he turned onto his back, his wife clasped in his arms, his heart beating with love for her.” Only you, no one else, ever.”

Stevie eased closer and placed a light kiss on his chest.” No one else for me, either. How could I ever want another man after I've had you?”

As twilight crept into the room and her lover slept beside her, Stevie gazed on his face, his dark, curly hair, his angular features, his firm mouth and strong jaw. She reached over to brush the hair from his forehead, her fingers light and loving. Turning onto his side, he eased closer and murmured her name.

To think he was her husband now, this man who was once a vampire. Tears flowed down her cheeks, and she swallowed hard, loving him so much she ached with it. She knew she'd never lived until now, knew there'd never be another man for her.

Only Galan, for all time.
