It was true, the partners did indeed know each other well. They’d met in college. Jack had been doing an arts degree, but transferred to law after he’d met Georgia. She liked to feel responsible for his life choice to become a detective.

Getting a job together, and becoming partners was a mere coincidence; a lucky one at that. Jack was Georgia’s best friend, and she was glad to have him by her side.

That evening Georgia decided to surprise Jack at his home with a pasta-bake, as a way of saying thanks for interrogating the dealership regarding the purchaser of her new vehicle. She climbed his front steps and knocked on the door loudly. Jack answered the door a moment later, a bath robe wrapped around him.

“Georgia!” he said, surprised. “What are you doing here?”

“I brought you dinner,” she said. “I know you’re a terrible cook.”

Jack looked reluctant to let her in. He looked over his shoulder before wincing. “Um, now isn’t a very good time.”

“Oh … I’m sorry. Do you have company?”

“Um, yes,” said Jack, his eyes darting to the left.

“Well, take this pasta bake anyway. I guess I’ll see you at work tomorrow.”

Jack opened the door, ready to take the pasta bake, but she was too quick for him. Darting past him, Georgia skipped into his sitting room, expecting to find a female companion on Jack’s sofa.

“Georgia, no!” said Jack, angrily. He tried to grab her, but it was no use. She was too quick.

The room was empty.

“You lied,” said Georgia, rather hurt. “You don’t have company.”

“Why did you need to barge in?” he demanded.

“I wanted to meet your lady friend.”

“You know I don’t have any lady friends … not since-” He stopped abruptly, his ears turning pink. “I’m sorry. I just didn’t feel like company.”

“That’s all you had to say,” said Georgia, placing the pasta bake on his coffee table. Some of the documents on the table caught her eye. The logo on the top was the same as the dealership from where her car had come. Georgia snatched up the paperwork and read it at once.

It was a receipt for the purchase of a brand new Mercedes – and the number plate matched the one Georgia had been given.

“Jack,” she said slowly. “What is this?’ She waved the document in front of him.

Jack looked ashamed of himself, and sat down on the sofa. “I’m sorry.”

“You …
you
bought the car?”

He nodded solemnly without looking her in the eyes.

“You never went to the dealership to find out who bought it, did you? That’s why you stopped me from going, isn’t it?”

Once again, Jack nodded.

“But …
how
? Are you part of a mob? A drug ring? Where did you get the money?”

Jack shook his head. “No, it’s nothing like that.”

“I don’t understand,” she said. Part of her was thrilled that her secret admirer was someone she cared deeply for, but a small section of her heart was wary.

Jack stood and approached Georgia, placing his hands on either side of her face. “I’ve wanted to tell you for so long,” he whispered. “Ever since we met in college. Do you remember? I was doing an arts degree … but after I met you I transferred to law. I was the snobby rich kid that people pretended to like, in order to get something out of me.”

Georgia nodded. “I didn’t think it was because of me.”

“Of course it was because of you. Why do you think I applied for the same job as you? And asked the chief to make us partners? I had to do a lot of bribery to make sure I could protect you at all times. If anything happened to you, Georgia, I’d die.”

Jack’s gaze was so intense that she found it hard to maintain eye contact. She looked away and focussed on her shoes instead.

“Georgia,” he whispered, cupping her chin and tilting her head upwards. Reluctantly, Georgia looked into his deep blue eyes. “I’ve been in love with you since we met. But I was scared. Women have always interested in me because of my money. How am I to tell who is sincere, and who is not? That’s why I went to college at twenty-two. I wanted to be someone else for a change.”

“But all of this money … where did it come from?”

“At eighteen I developed a website which I sold a year later for … well … a nice sum of money, let’s say. I was an overnight millionaire, as they say.”

“Why have you never told me this?”

“I wanted you to love me for who I was, not a cheque book.”

“How could I think of you like that? You’re everything to me.”

“I didn’t want people liking me for my money. The world is so superficial. But you liked me regardless.”

“Of course I did. You’re amazing … my best friend.”

At these words, Jack looked crestfallen. Clearly, ‘best friend’ had not been his intention.

“And,” continued Georgia. “I’m glad you’re my secret admirer.”

Jack smiled and looked at Georgia’s face longingly. “Can I kiss you?” he asked.

Georgia had never been asked this before. It was very rare that a man asked for permission before taking a kiss. Breathlessly, she nodded, her throat dry with anticipation.

Jack smiled as he lifted her chin, lowering his head to meet hers. Tenderly, he brushed his lips against her mouth, so softly that it felt as though a ghost had kissed her.

Georgia pressed herself against Jack, wrapping her arms around his neck. He responded with enthusiasm, crushing his mouth upon hers in an aggressive kiss. All of the restraint he’d shown since they’d met seemed to be bursting from the seams.

Their mouths opened and their tongues entwined in a passionate kiss, the likes of which Georgia had never known. Her body became alight with passion and longing for her secret admirer. Jack held her close, his strong arms pressing her against him.

With one sweeping motion Georgia was lifted from her feet, and Jack carried her through the house and into his bedroom. She thought things were moving very fast, but at that moment she didn’t care. Her body burned for him. She wanted nothing more than to touch him, and have him touch her

Once inside the bedroom, Georgia began to undress for Jack, the secret millionaire.

He took her hand and kissed it. “Slow down,” he cooed. “There’s no rush.”

Slowly, Georgia removed each article of clothing while Jack watched in awe.

Jack took his fill, drinking in the sight of her. She stood before him, her eyes wild with need, beckoning him to come and claim what was his.

Jack could barely contain himself. He’d waited years for this moment, but never imagined it would come. He took her in his arms, kissing her fiercely, and with two shaking hands Georgia unfastened Jack’s robe, her heart racing at a million miles an hour. She couldn’t believe what she was doing. She’d harboured feelings for Jack for many years, but never imagined she’d play them out.

Jack’s robe fell to the floor with ease, revealing his magnificent body. He was tanned, and fit, with dark curls on his chest. Georgia ran her hand through his chest hair, marvelling at his body.

He too, admired Georgia’s figure. She was slim, yet shapely, with large pert breasts. She was pale, with luscious pink nipples and a neat patch of hair between her legs. He couldn’t help buy stare. Georgia, too, was mesmerised by him.

Slowly, Georgia’s gaze fell upon his member, which was already erect from their passionate kissing. It was as though neither of them had seen another human so clearly before. Finally, after all the years Georgia had spent by Jack’s side, she knew it had been building to this moment.

Jack smiled mischievously, picking Georgia up in his arms and depositing her on the king-size bed before lying beside her.

He watched her, making no direct her in any way. Georgia moved closer until she could feel his breath on her lips. Slowly, with great deliberation, she pressed her mouth to his. She loved touching him, making him feel as good as he made her feel. Her hands fluttered over the beard-roughed skin of his jaw, and she kissed a line from his lips to his neck, enjoying the rugged rasp against her lips. Jack’s pulse jumped wildly at his neck as her mouth closed over it and nipped lightly with her teeth.

There was no disguising his need, his urgent desire for her. He rolled, taking her with him until she was tucked underneath him, cradled against his body. His hands tangled in her hair, clutching at her slim neck as he guided her to his eager mouth.

His lips slid from hers and down her jaw until he reached the sensitive lobe of her ear. He nibbled lightly then sucked it between his teeth. When he moved below to claim the tender skin of her neck, chill bumps danced and raced across her shoulders and tightened her nape.

She made full use of her hands, delving into his brown hair. His gaze sought hers as he rose from her neck and then moved to her breasts.

There was something wild in his eyes. Where before he had seemed restrained, in control and patient, now there was an urgency; a deep wanting.

Jack stopped, his body going still against her burning flesh. His gaze penetrated her. Propping himself on one arm next to her head, he touched his fingers to Georgia’s lips as if to shush her.

“You are the only woman who ever had my heart.”

Caught off guard, Georgia’s chest swelled and expanded with emotion. He dropped his head and kissed her, long and sweet. His tongue danced with hers, touching, licking, loving her mouth deeply and intimately. There was a reverence to his every touch, almost hesitation, as though he feared she would shatter under his caresses. Carefully he ran his hand over the curve of her shoulder. The backs of his knuckles grazed the soft skin above her breast and then slid over her nipple.

He leaned down and put his mouth over the taut peak. Warm and moist, his tongue flicked over the tip as his lips closed around the aureole. With his free hand, he reached between her thighs. He wasted no time in finding her wetness, and his fingers teased over her opening.

He nuzzled her breasts gently, placing kisses on the underside, where they lay upon her ribcage. She was languorously still as he traced a line of kisses down her stomach, pausing to cover each hipbone and the hollows they formed with her abdomen. He loved the scent of her skin. He could not liken it to any other. He breathed her perfume now as he returned to her stomach and back down to her hips. It seemed to him she was redolent of love itself. If he could distil the fragrance of her skin it would be the essence of purity.

His tongue slipped lightly into her and she gave a slight gasp above him. Slowly he quested through the curling folds and swirls, tasting her arousal and loving the little noises she let slip. He was firmer now, longer caresses of his tongue elicited a reciprocal urgency in the movement of her hips and her breathing grew more rapid. She was getting near and her breath was coming in gasps. She made no other sound until the moment of her release. There was a great exhalation and then barely vocalised, meaningless noises. She clutched at his neck and held him tightly against her, rocking her hips until the waves that rippled through her had retreated.

He crawled back up her body, kissing her longingly, allowing her to taste her juices on his mouth.

His member lay rigid against the inside of her thigh, and he opened her then positioned himself so that his length was cradled in her folds, her juices coating him. He smiled when her eyes widened as he rubbed up and down, the plump tip pressing against her clit. Georgia craved it so bad she found it physically painful to not have it.

He found her entrance, and slid deep within her body. She loved the male roughness, the dips and curves of each muscle and the rigidity as she feathered over them. She loved feeling him flinch, as though her touch was intensely pleasurable to him.

He pushed forward, slow and easy. A smile curved his sensual lips, and his eyes gleamed as he stilled inside her. They were both in awe; finally their bodies had become one. She arched into him, seeking those sinful lips, needing to feel them against her skin.

Thrust and withdraw; he set slow rhythm, his pace relaxed. Each stroke sent her senses flaring.

She closed her eyes as hands roamed freely over her body, cupping and moulding, his touch light and seeking. Each caress told her more than words that she belonged to him. She was his and he knew her better than she knew herself.

He lowered his body to hers, melding to her as he wrapped his arms around her. Their bodies entwined, he cupped his hips over her, thrusting repeatedly between her legs.

'Georgia,' he whispered as he buried his face in her hair. His voice was husky as he called her to him.

Gritting his teeth to keep his pace slow and his movements gentle, he battled to control his own flaring passion, overcome by the deeper desire for tenderness and the need to express the intensity of his feelings for her. He felt the need building in her. Her movements became stronger and more convulsive and she ground her pelvis into him. He was hanging on desperately now, keeping his rhythm deliberate. The necessity to stay controlled was now almost painful yet exhilarating at the same time.

This time she cried out sharply as she reached her climax and then he was lost, sprinting madly to his own release while she clung to him, seizing his face between her hands she covered him in kisses, her eyes mad and wild as he poured himself into her in a series of ecstatic tremors. They clung together, kissing and touching until the physical rush subsided and left them with a surreptitious sense of delight, a feeling of something wondrous, delicately achieved, too special to be sullied by scant words.
