“Cooper, hey, it’s Faith, I hate to bother you, I just wanted to see how things were going…you know with Cynthia and all. I feel silly now for bothering you. I hope you are well, give your mother my love.”

“You’re going back, aren’t you?” Liv was propped against the door smiling. “I’m really glad, Faith, he deserves to know.”

“Thanks, Liv.” She smiled and her friend gave her a hug, encouraging her to move on with her new start.

Whatever was worrying her was just going to have to find a way to settle itself. She had called, there was nothing left she could do. Still there was a nagging sensation that something was wrong. The next morning was bright and she lay in bed. She should be excited, should be crazy running around packing anything she’d forgotten. Instead she was lying in the bed with something troubling her. She had hoped whatever it was would have disappeared by morning but it hadn’t. She sat up and put on her slippers. She made her way through her routine and even after that she felt bad. She made her way downstairs to find a note from Liv. She had taken Harry to the beach and didn’t want to have to say goodbye, so she was doing it like this. Faith smiled. The plan was to drive into the city tonight and stay so that she could finish the drive in the morning. Of course, she wasn’t alone in her adventure. Kelly was picking her up this morning and they would go into San Diego together and enjoy the afternoon. Faith finished up dragging things into the foyer to wait for Kelly. She checked her phone for the hundredth time. He hadn’t called her back. She must have been right to leave him alone.

The drive went smoothly; there was so much to think about, Faith really just wanted to enjoy the ride for a while. There was no clear way to make sense of the emotions she was feeling, so all she could do was put them behind her. She glanced over at Kelly, she was happily singing along with some song on the radio. Faith smiled, she was truly blessed to have found such wonderful friends. As the drive went on, she watched the passing cars go by. She wasn’t sure how long it would be before she would see those sights again. The program started next week, and by then she would be settled into her new home and her new life. The ocean was a beautiful sight to see and she wished they’d allowed for an extra day so she could enjoy it one last time. They finally found their hotel and as she was stretching in the parking lot, Faith felt sick. There was something wrong and she knew it in that moment.

“Kelly, take me to the hospital.”

Kelly knew by the look on her face it was serious and made her way across town. It was the last thing Faith remembered before passing out.

***

She knew he was there way before she opened her eyes. Something about the smell of leather in the air and she knew she was done for. She opened one eye, at the same time instinctively moving her hands to her stomach.

“If you weren’t in that bed, Faith, I’d hurt you myself.” He was angry. She had expected nothing less than that.

“What happened?” She could barely get the words out, she felt so dry.

“You fainted, and there is some talk about bed rest for the duration of the pregnancy but you, and the baby are okay. Our baby.” He gathered her hand in his. “Why didn’t you tell me, Faith? Did you think I wouldn’t love this baby?” His expression was heartbreaking.

“I was wrong…and I was on my way to you, Cooper.”

“I love you, Faith, and I want to spend the rest of my life showing you just how much.”

“I love you too, Cooper…you can keep the family house.” She gave him a weak smile.

“I don’t give a damn about that, Faith, I just want you. I’ll always want you.”

She gave him another smile before falling asleep once more.

It may have started as a job, and for him finding a solution to a problem. As Faith woke the next morning and felt the shift in her stomach, she was once more reminded at just how good life can be. She was in love with the man of her dreams and he was there with her. She felt him move beside her and tuck her in even closer. Everything about it was right, and good. She smiled as she thought back about where her life had taken her and who she was now. She would always remember Mrs. Covington’s words of advice to her, and she wondered if she would want an invitation to their wedding.

“I know you’re awake, Faith, what are you plotting now?” She felt his hand possessively move down her frame to cup her stomach lovingly.

“I'm simply thinking about life with you, and how stubborn you can be.” She smiled.

“I hardly think I'm the stubborn one here, after all you left me shot and in a wheelchair, while running off pregnant with my baby. I mean, who does that?”

She turned to look at him. “I am horrible, Cooper, I am so sorry.”

“I’m joking, my love, there was never anything that would keep us apart, not really anyway. I was on my way to find you.”

“I love you, Cooper, I never thought I could, or that I was worthy of it, but I do.”

“You are more than worthy, you are my one.” He smiled into her amber eyes and ran his thumb over the caramel skin of her shoulder. “Now what are we going to name this child? I was thinking Archibald after my great great grandfather.”

She rolled over quickly. “Ohh no, Cooper, no way.” He laughed loudly and she joined him.

Epilogue

As Faith recovered in the hospital Cooper received a rather strange phone call. It was the head detective of the investigation for his shooting. He had some very shocking news. Apparently Cynthia was the one who had hired the "intruder" to break into his house and shoot him. They had caught the guy, and once put under interrogation he sang like a bird.

They had locked Cynthia up, and the detective had mentioned that under interrogation she had admitted to hiring the intruder merely to make him weak, so he would be much more reliant on her and she could control him better, and crave her affection. What she didn't expect was Faith to be so caring towards him, where she wasn't even needed.

The detective had asked Cooper if he were interested in bailing her out before the trial, as she still was his fiancée, and Cooper simply responded that ;

"She stopped being my fiancée a long time ago."

With Cooper finally unattached, he decided to finally do right by Faith, and proposed to her in her hospital bed. She accepted, and with her acceptance promised to stay in the country with him and forgo the overseas nursing program in Paris.

Over the next 7 months Faith and the Robinson's grew closer than they could have ever imagined, and once the baby was born they grew closer still, as one big happy family living happily ever after.

The End

My Billionaire Boss

By Tyra Brown

Prologue

I couldn't believe this was happening. At first I thought this new CEO and owner was just one of those cocky rich guys who liked to take a hands on approach, but it looks like there's a lot more going on here than I could have imagined.

We've been in this office for the last 36 hours trying to figure this out and I think we're almost there. Someone has been stealing from the company and it looks like it was an insider. We're not talking about  a few hundred, but millions of dollars over the last several years, maybe even since the company started.

Being the person responsible for the money, I would be blamed if we couldn't figure this out. But how could I think with this perfectly built man working so closely with me, even if I despised him a little.

***

After getting so close I think we've finally figured out how the thief is stealing from the company. So we decided to bring the police into the investigation but you wouldn't believe it. They suggested that the person responsible may realize that we're looking for him. He may even cover his tracks if they find out the controller and the CEO are spending so much time together going over all these documents and travelling from office to office. So their suggestion? Feign an office romance so it looks like nothing is unusual and we're just trying to spend time together at the office.

They have got to be out of their mind! Talk about unprofessional, and how am I supposed to pretend to be in love with this guy? He's arrogant, controlling and has this swagger to him, not something I'm usually into. But then again why can't I stop thinking about him?

Chapter 1

I was going to be so late! I thought as I looked at my watch for the third time in thirty minutes. Nothing seemed to go right when you were running late. And I was late by at least 30 minutes. I looked up at the red light again. Why is it that you are always stopped by every red light when you are in a hurry to get somewhere?

That somewhere was work. It was a big day for the office and I needed to be there on time. While I was a confidant, curvy girl with creamy caramel skin , brown eyes and my hair braided in a  bun, I knew the new head honcho would be there to introduce himself today, and I had to be on top of my game. I heard he was one of those CEOs that loved to get their hands dirty and will probably praise himself on all his accomplishments and so forth. It was always the same with guys like that. Look at me. I am so powerful and rich. Everyone wants me. Well I didn’t. It didn’t matter what they did or how they looked. I was not impressed with them at all. Not now and not ever. I was my own woman and I worked long and hard to get where I was today. I really needed to get there though.

I felt the push before I heard it. My car jerked forward an inch on its own accord. I looked down to make sure and yes my foot was still fully on the brake. That meant only one thing. Someone had bumped me and bumped me hard enough to make the whole car move.

Looking back I saw the culprit behind me. He was one of the types of men I had just been thinking about. He was totally inconsiderate and just hit me. I already didn’t like this guy. I pulled my car over to the side of the curb and put it in park. Now that we were off the road I was able to open my door and get out. Just as I stepped out, I felt my heel sink into the soft ground. Just great. I heard the disgusting squish as I pulled it up from the mud. I would need to clean it before going in to work, which would take even more time than expected.

“You do know that the light was green don’t you?” The man stood angrily at the side of his car. A sports car so tiny that it looked like it came from the future. He was suave in his dark, cleanly pressed suit and shiny shoes. His dark blue eyes complemented his dirty blonde hair, cut jawline and built figure as well.

“You do know that you don’t go until the person in front of you does. Don’t you pay attention?”

“You’re one to talk. You sat there for like 5 minutes while it was green before you tried to go and then you just stopped.”

“I didn’t move at all.”

“See there’s the problem. You’re slow.”

“I’ll have you know that I’m not slow.”

He grinned then. “So you’re fast and easy then, huh?”

I sputtered with rage at his words. First the man hit my car from behind and then he decides to tease me about sex. Was he crazy? I asked him as such and he cocked his head. Next it flew back as his body roared with laughter.

“You are a feisty one. Look. Here come the police I called them. They’ll be able to sort all of this out now.”

“You called them?”

“Yeah probably when you were trying to decide on what to do next while sitting in your car.”

“Ohhh. I don’t have time for this.”

“Yeah none of us do. Looks like you’re gonna have to deal with it though, feisty.”

“Stop acting like you know me and stop calling me that, damn it.”

“Okay.” He turned towards the approaching police and smiled. The policeman instantly smiled at him.

“Hey I know you. You’re David Smith. You used to play for the Falcons.”

“Guilty as charged.”

“Hey, man, I’m a big fan. What happened to you?”

Oh great. I could feel my insides as they began to turn red with rage. This man was a fan of his which meant one of two things. Either I got a ticket or no one did. How do you like that for justice? I shook my head as they began going over plays and other players.

“Hello. I’m standing here waiting. Look I need you to get the report done so I can leave. I have somewhere very important to be and then you two can reminisce after I’m gone, okay?”

“Women drivers.” Mr. Big shot rolled his eyes at the cop and both of them started laughing.

“You ran into me and you rear ended me. If I know the law right, which I do, then you’re automatically at fault since you weren’t paying attention.”
