Authors: Murder in the Pleasure Gardens
“I see you are not covering your eyes any longer, Chakkri. Had you noticed the odd mannerism, Robinson?”
“No, sir, I cannot say I was blessed with that knowledge.”
“I expect you were blind to it, then. You may go now, Robinson. I wish you a good-night.”
With that, I blew out the candle at my bedside, the only noise in the room being Chakkri’s rumbling purrs.
Besides Beau Brummell, the other real historical personages in this book are: George, Prince of Wales (later George IV), his Royal Highness, Frederick, the Duke of York, her Royal Highness, Frederica, the Duchess of York, Charles, Lord Petersham, Earl Spencer, Lord Headfort, John Lavender, James Read, the Marchioness of Salisbury, Watier, and, of course, Robinson.
Another real ‘person’ is Chakkri the cat.
For his love and understanding while I was writing this book, I want to thank my son, Tom Stevens. You are simply the best!
