They both jumped back.

No strong wind or stale air had come from the briefcase. All Rio saw was a stack of papers, a pack of gum, a small case for glasses, and a few expensive-looking ink pens tucked in their individual pockets.

That was it.

Fire reached into the case and began to move the papers around.

He lifted the stack up, looking underneath. “It’s just a…briefcase. An ordinary briefcase.”

“Don’t sound so disappointed.” Although Rio had to admit that he had been hoping for more. He thought he would find some grisly evidence to prove that Mr. Fishman was the demon and have the case wrapped up. No such luck. “This still doesn’t mean that he isn’t a demon. It just means we have to look harder for evidence.”

“Like what, break into his house?”

Rio shook his head. That thought had never entered his mind. “I wasn’t thinking—”

“Great plan!” Fire said a little too enthusiastically. “But we’ll have to plan that one out. I highly doubt both of us can call off of work at the same time without looking suspicious.”

“Whoa.” Rio shook his head. “I was
not
talking about breaking into his home.”

“Again, do you want to risk him being the demon around all those kids? What if the body he had before taking Mr. Fishman’s is somewhere in his house? Don’t you want to make sure before we take him off of our suspect list? Where are your balls?”

Before Rio could think twice about what he was doing, he had Fire pinned down on the table. “Right between my fucking legs.”

“Okay, peace.” Fire pushed at Rio’s chest. “No need to get all nasty about it.”

Rio eased back, but found that he was still growling low in his throat. “I may not be a professional at breaking and entering, but never question my manhood.”

“I wasn’t questioning your manhood. I was just merely stating that if we are to find any evidence against Mr. Fishman, we need to dig harder. My gut is screaming that he is the demon from his erratic behavior. He’s singled me out, Rio. What if he plans on killing me next? Or better yet, would you want him to hurt Suzy or Jeff? I don’t want him near
any
of the kids. Giving him the evil eye is not going to prove that he is the demon everyone is looking for. Now, are you with me on this?”

“I don’t think you should be excited about committing crimes, Fire.” Rio rubbed both hands down his face. “Fine, but we do it in a way where neither of us will be caught.”

Rio hadn’t even considered that Mr. Fishman might be targeting Fire as his next victim. His mate was right. They had to be one hundred percent sure that the principal and the demon were not one and the same. If anything happened to Fire, Rio would…the thought of not having Fire in his life made Rio’s damn chest hurt.

Fire closed the briefcase. “How about on our lunch hour tomorrow? I’m pretty sure he doesn’t live too far, and that should give us plenty of time to search his house.”

“We still need to find out why he was talking with that bookie.”

Maybe he was one of the demon’s minions. Rio wasn’t too knowledgeable about demonic creatures. He never really met one. It wasn’t until he was in his mid-twenties that he ran into a vampire. His parents had sheltered him, trying to protect him from the cruelness of the world.

He loved his mother and father dearly, but they had handicapped him. It looked like his eyes were about to be yanked wide open being mated to Fire. Secretly, Rio felt alive for the very first time in his life.

Although he knew there was danger in what they were doing, a small part of him couldn’t help but be excited that he wasn’t sitting at home, watching his life pass him by.

Sue him. It was an adventure. A dangerous one, but nothing before had made his blood pump this hard.

It was such a strong and powerful feeling that he was horny now.

Moving in behind Fire, Rio pressed his body into his mate’s. “I’m going to fuck you, darlin’.” The excitement was crackling through the air as Rio moved Fire’s hair to one side of his shoulder and then brushed his lips across Fire’s nape. He felt his mate jerk and then Fire rolled his head to one side.

Rio reached over toward the counter and snagged the small, fancy bottle of olive oil. He set it on the table right before he encouraged Fire to bend over. Reaching between his mate and the table, Rio loosened Fire’s pants, sliding them down his mate’s slim legs.

“Don’t move.” Once Rio had his pants down his legs and kicked them off, he grabbed the bottle and uncorked it, pouring some of the thick substance on his fingers.

Setting the bottle aside, Rio lowered himself until he was face to ass. Feeling devilish, Rio nipped one pale cheek before sliding his fingers down the crease of Fire’s ass. Fire’s body was warm to the touch, melting beneath his fingers. His stomach muscles bunched. His gaze leapt to the tight muscle that he was spreading the oil around.

Rio leaned forward and pressed a kiss to the exposed expanse of flesh just below the snug entrance.

“What is that smell?” Fire whispered, his voice unsteady.

His entire body jerked. Not just his cock. Fire’s tone, that whispery brush of velvet, slipped inside of him and wreaked havoc with every nerve ending. His heart went wild, and blood rushed hot

through his veins. Rio knew that Fire could turn his world erotic just with the sound of his voice. “Mediterranean garlic.”

“Do you plan on fucking me or are you planning on cooking me for dinner?”

“Mmm, I do plan on feasting on your tempting flesh.” Rio nipped Fire’s ass cheek again as he inserted two oily fingers deep into his mate’s body.

“S–Sounds lovely,” Fire groaned as he collapsed forward onto the table once again.

“I thought I told you not to move.” Rio slapped Fire’s ass cheek and then licked his way around the abused flesh.

Using some of the oil on his right hand, Rio spread it to his left, and then reached between Fire’s legs to torture his mate’s cock. He didn’t stroke his mate’s erection…he teased the head with his fingers, caressing the underside with his thumb.

“Oh, my god,” Fire murmured on a long breath. “Don’t stop.”

Rio twisted his wrist and worked his fingers to loosen his mate’s ass as he continued to tease and play with his mate. A soft purr rumbled in his chest, his cat approving. Rio used his tongue to drive Fire closer to the edge as he inserted a third finger.

His hand that had been teasing Fire’s cock slipped further down until he was massaging his mate’s balls, rolling the wrinkled flesh in his hand, and giving the sac slight tug. Rio lowered his head, closing his eyes as Fire’s masculine scent enveloped him. There was rapture in the fragrance that was uniquely Fire. He felt a satisfying shiver going through his mate even before he blew warm air across Fire’s stretched hole.

He wanted to show his mate just how far in love he was falling.

He wanted to prove to the fey that Rio accepted everything about him.

He wanted to erase the past hurt everyone had inflicted upon the man.

With his body raging at him and his mind filled with an all-consuming love for Fire, Rio entered him.

Fire’s body shuddered and bucked, the sounds of helpless pleasure falling from his lips. Rio loved that he could make Fire as mindless as his mate made him. He had never thought that giving another man’s pleasure could give him back so much. He felt every shudder and heard every moan and whimper as music.

Reaching forward, Rio gripped Fire’s neck with his left hand, placing his right on his mate’s hip. He rode Fire slowly as he pulled his mate’s head back and licked a path around his mate’s wiggling, pointed ear.

Rio groaned when Fire’s ass clenched around his cock like a tight fist. He pulled the tender flesh between his teeth and bit down oh so gently.

“Rio!” Fire’s hands came up to clutch at the one Rio had wrapped around his neck. “Oh god, Rio.”

“You like that, darlin’?” Rio knew damn well it drove Fire crazy.

The teasing always brought sex to another level.

“Y–Yes,” Fire hissed as his fingers dug deeply into Rio’s hand.

Rio pressed kisses down Fire’s neck and then used his tongue to circle around his mate’s shoulder where he had bitten and claimed him. He thrust his cock deeper, grinding his teeth to stave off his quickly approaching climax.

In just under seven days Fire had turned Rio’s world upside down and made him feel as if he had only been living half a life. Rio stared down at Fire, savoring the feel of his mate’s body. He pulled back enough so that he could see where they would join and watched as he slammed into his mate. His thrusts were furious now, pounding through Fire as he braced one hand on the table and grabbed his mate’s cock with the other. Fire arched his back as he cried out Rio’s name, his ass clamping down on Rio’s cock like a vise grip as his seed shot from his body.

Rio sank his canines into his mate’s giving flesh. Feeling the hunger pulling him under, he desperately sought his release. One.

Two. Three. Rio thrust and then came so hard his head began to

pound. He was shaky, wobbly on his legs as he pulled free and backed up until he was leaning against the counter.

Fire lay spread out over the table looking as if he was about to fall asleep. If it wasn’t for the ragged breathing, he would’ve thought so.

Rio ran his hand down his sweaty chest, trying his best to pull in enough air. “Now I’m hungry as hell.”

“You should be,” Fire said between pants. “You made me smell like a fucking tossed salad.”

Rio chuckled. “I had to work with what I had at the moment.”

Fire gave him a lazy smile as he slowly opened his eyes. “You improvise very well.”

Walking over to the refrigerator, Rio grabbed the container of orange juice, opened it, and sucked the cold liquid down his parched throat. He could feel his mate’s eyes on him, so Rio flexed each ass cheek.

“Nice,” Fire said from the table. “Now can you flip pancakes with those ass cheeks because I’m starving?”

Rio dug through the fridge. “I have bologna and eggs.”

“That’ll work.” Fire pushed himself off the table and then kicked his jeans all the way off. Next he pulled his shirt over his head and tossed it to the pile of clothes on the floor. “Looks like we’ll be cooking naked.”

“I’d at least put an apron on. You don’t want to burn your jewels.”

Rio snagged the apron off the hook that was on the side of the refrigerator and tossed it to his mate. Fire caught it midair and secured it to his body.

“Okay, now I’m ready. Bring on the bologna!”

All Rio could do was shake his head. His mate simply fascinated him. He pulled his shirt off and let it join the rest of his clothes. “I’ll make the eggs.” Grabbing the extra apron, Rio tied it on.

As they stood side by side and cooked, Rio couldn’t help but feel content. He was enjoying his evening—and the company. Rio leaned over and gave Fire a quick peck on the cheek. When his mate stared at

him with stars in his eyes, Rio felt weak in the knees. He knew in that moment that no matter what Fire got them into, Rio would always find a way to pull them out.

Chapter Twelve

Rio edged closer to Mr. Fishman’s house as Fire walked behind his mate…backward. He was scanning the area, making sure no one was watching them. They hurried from the school as soon as they escorted their classes to lunch. It wasn’t hard to find where Mr.

Fishman lived and Fire was not in the least bit surprised when he saw that the principal lived in one of the more grander homes of Brac Village.

He and his mate had successfully tucked the stolen briefcase back into Mr. Fishman’s trunk before school started—although Rio and Fire had found the documents inside the briefcase very interesting.

It seemed the principal had quite a few complaints against him from staff members. Maverick had given him a letter of reprimand and a warning that if this continued, Mr. Fishman would be replaced.

Fire was glad to know it wasn’t just him that Mr. Fishman picked on.

The guy was just an all-around jerk.

They were currently trying to break into the jerk’s house.

Fire nearly fell over in laughter when Rio had pulled two black ski masks from his front pockets. The man watched way too many movies. But not wanting to offend the panther, Fire pulled it over his head. He felt stupid as hell wearing it. Now they looked like actual robbers. The look
so
was not helping the situation.

If anybody drove by right now, they would no doubt call the cops.

Fire was trying to make sure the kids at the school were safe from a demonic principal, not got to jail.

The two hurried to the back of the house. All the windows were double-pane glass. He had no clue how they were going to get in.

“Here,” Rio whispered as he pointed toward a small access door.

“I think this leads to the basement. It’ll be the easiest way to gain entrance.”

“I thought you didn’t know how to break and enter.” Fire threw his hands on his hips. “Have you been holding out on me?”

“Just get your ass over here.” Rio shoved his shoulder to the door, and the thin barrier gave way very easily. For a posh house the security sucked. There wasn’t even an alarm that went off.

He followed his mate inside, closing the door behind him. Fire checked his watch. “We have about twenty-five minutes.”

“Then we better get moving.” Rio led them down a small set of stairs that ended at a closed door. Slowly, his mate opened it and peeked inside. “Just like I thought, a basement.”

Fire walked to the door and glanced around. There were a ton of boxes stacked high off to one side. When he walked over to examine them for a decomposing body, he found them empty. “Doesn’t this guy know how to recycle?”

Rio scowled at him. “We’re not here to see if he’s green. Stop fucking around and let’s get upstairs.”
